Is it safe to give Bayer aspirin to dogs with arthritis?

5. Generally, unless your dog has some health condition that would make it not such a good idea. Call your vet and ask about dosing, they'll be able to tell you how much to give, and how often.
6. It completely depends on the size and breed of the dog. Consult your vet about the question. They can and should provide you with an exact dosage amount. If it's urgent, you can even give them a call and they should tell you at no charge.
7. You will need to consult your vet for appropriate dosage, also, you can't use aspirin for extended amounts of time!! It will cause an ulcer. Try something like Rimadyl, or Deramaxx which you can get at your vet. (possibly metacam if it's a smaller dog.)

11. I have read and been told by the vet buffered aspirin. Check into proper dosage for your dogs weight. Ask your vet about Glucosimine Chondroitin. It is a supplement that many believe helps with arthritis. I have heard a lot of positive things about its use with all sorts of animals and humans. If it gets too bad there are also meds to help w/ the pain and treatment you can get from the vet.

13. You can give asprin 81 mil only - not Tylenol. Depending on the size of your dog. Small dogs 1/2 asprin 2 x a day. Up to 12 lbs. Big dogs - 1 81 mil tab for 65 - 75 lbs. 2 x a day. Chexk with your Vet to be sure. I use a medication called Zubrin for arthritis pain management. It comes in a 100 mil tablet and I have to cut it into 1/4 pieces because my dogs are under 20lbs. 14. rather then going for pain killers, why not try glucosamine sulphate? this is good for artheritis and joint problems.

Either use the MSM, glucosamine, chondroitin mix already suggested by someone, found in health food stores, or try to find a product which is fairly new on the market which usually includes one or more of the above together with extract of green lipped mussel - that may sound strange to you, but researchers are excited about this products which seems to work really well and has been tested on both humans and animals. Also add small bits of fresh or powdered ginger to his foods (turmeric is good too). Also give him some form of essential fatty acids, like cod liver oil or salmon oil daily. These things will not only help the pain, but also prevent recurrence - you will also have the added benefit of a healthy coat and skin. MSM is a natural, organic form of sulphur which is highly anti-inflammatory. Adjust your dog's diet too - do not feed dried pellets, but try to convert to a raw food diet - which is what dogs' bodies are meant to live on. There are many sites showing you how to do this, and it is very easy to do. A fresh, raw bone to chew on every now and then also helps both health and teeth. Pelleted food tends to build up substances in the body which are difficult to get rid of, and causes many health problems. If you really must use a preprepared food, use one which is organic, with more protein and very little or no grains at all. Oats are best. 17. You shouldn't give an animal any medicine which we can take without consulting your vet you never no if its going to poison your dog or cause other problems with organs, the best thing for arthritis is Metacam which you can get from the vet the results are amazing as i used it on my old collie.
