Aspirins

Can my body be immune to aspirin & sleep aids?

I rarely take aspirin, I believe what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, but when I DO have a bad enough headache I'll take aspirin. I'll use Excedrin Migraine & instead of 2 I'll pop 3 so I knock it out. I won't take any more than that during the day. Yet sometimes, it won't help. I find the same with sleep aids. I refuse to take them, but lately I've had some personal problems that're troubling me. Granted that could be my problem, but you'd think sleep aids would make me tired, but they don't. I was given the cheap equate allergy pills to try. I was told they usually make my friend tired, so I thought why not? So I took 3 again, rather than 2 as it says, & it still did nothing for me. My friend at work just so happened to take the same thing an hour before me & she was ready to pass out. Well. . .3-4 hours later I still wasn't sleepy. Can my body be immune to these things? This was suggested from a friend. But I don't see how since I rarely take anything. Just curious.

  1. There are a number of factors that can contribute to your bodies response to medications. Your weight compared to your friends could be a reason for the different reactions as well as your body's biochemistry. Careful with taking more than the recommended dose. If you need help sleeping try taking meletonin- it is a natural chemical found in the body but you can also get it from supplements. You can get it pretty much anywhere that sells vitamins.
  2. i think your body at some point will get used to it...And would require a more of the stuff to get the same or any effect..like alcohol, the more bottles and days you drink, the higher your tolerance get...
  3. I would say your body just doesn't respond to these over the counter medications. You are not addicted, thank goodness you don't take them often, because than you would be addicted. If you have headaches continously or sleepiness I would consult with my family doctor. Some people get affected by medicines and some do not.
  4. The body chemistry in every person is different and the way drugs interact with them can also differe from person to person. You may want to try an herbal sleep aid. Although I wouldn't try any with melatonin in them as a lot of people have described getting night terrors after taking it. I personally take a sleep aid called SnoozeEase. You can check them out here if you are interested. http://www.snoozeease.com
