allergy to aspirin?
so, ive been told i have an allergy to aspirin. but i have no idea when this happened, as it was reported by my mother- who is no longer around. i know she was also allergic. im a 23yr old female, ive taken lotsa other stuff like advil, naproxen etc never had a problem and i wanna know if i legit am allergic to aspirin. how can i go about finding out if i am without doing more harm than good? i mean, aspirin has so many beneficial effects i feel like i wanna know if i really am allergic b/c it could save my life down the road if i am not-

- You might ask older family members if they recall how it came to pass that your mom said you had an aspirin allergy . Then ask your family doctor what is the worst thing that could happen if you tried an aspirin , and were allergic . I'm not positive - but I don't think aspirin allergy is quite as serious as a penicillin allergy ; but since drugs affect different people differently , check out side effects first for allergy to it . Sometimes years ago if a parent had an allergy it was taken for granted the kid did too ..to be on the safe side . You could always go through allergy testing .
- stay away from all Nsaids, be sure the allergy is listed on all of your medical records, and depending on severity -wear a med alert tag. follow up with your allergist for more answers.
- You can get an allergy test run by the doctors usually they do this by marking small marks on your skin to see why, if you are allergic to aspirin it's better to be safe then sorry and i'm sure the doctors won't let anything harmful happen to you because you are surposed to be in their care. Also if you do need a pain releiver paracetamol is also good to use.
