Is salicylic acid really dangerous during pregnancy? I have combination/oily skin and it's VERY hard to find products that don't have this listed somewhere in the ingredients. I don't use peels or creams or anything, only a facial wash and toner and oil control moisturizer (Vichy Normaderm and Avene products). Did you use products with salicylic acid during pregnancy?

Willowbark + Salicylic Acid + Pregnancy? My skin is a mess. Between the fertility treatments I was on and the subsequent pregnancy, my skin is going crazy. I know you cannot use salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide during pregnancy so I did some research at Sephora and found a Boscia product containing Willowbark. What's the deal with salicylic acid? Last week I sent my fiance to the store to pick up some toiletries, including facial scrub. I don't really stick to a particular brand, so I told him to pick up whichever one he wanted. He brought home Equate Medicated Apricot Scrub, which contains salicylic acid. I had not heard anything about not using this during pregnancy [I'm almost 19 weeks] until reading a question on here recently. By that time, I had used the facial scrub twice. Is this really harmful? I've not used it since, and will of course ask my doctor about it, just looking for some other opinions!

12 weeks pregnant and i just found out salicylic acid is a NO NO.? Hi, i've had problem skin my whole life. For the past year or so i've had it fairly well under control. Lately though, with these hormonal changes my skin has been going crazy. She gave me a non-acne targeted toner, which I've been using twice daily. The ingredients were not listed on the sample packs I received. I wasn't too worried about what was in it, because I was told it didn't contain salicylic acid. Well...come to find out (long story), it does contain salicylic acid...and I've been using this all along! So basically, I'm really worried about birth defects and such. My doctor basically told me not to worry because there is nothing I can do about it, just do better from here on out. Still, I'm upset about this whole thing. Does anyone have words of wisdom, advice, or maybe a personal story to make me feel better about the fact that I've used this horrible ingredient twice daily for my entire pregnancy thus far? 20 weeks pregnant and using Murad Acne Kit and other products with salicylic acid. Is it Safe? I'm 20 weeks pregnant. SInce the beginning of my pregnancy my face completely broke out with acne. Differin and Pregnancy - anyone use it while pregnant? I've done a lot of research on differin's safety - it's absorption topically is minimal and research in pregnant rats showed toxicity only at very high oral doses. There is no hard evidence that it is harmful and of course no randomized studies in pregnant women to show it is absolutely safe. From what I have read, it does seem to be relatively benign and actually falls in the same pregnancy class as benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid - all category C. But, given that it is a retinoid-like compound and related to the hightly teratogenic oral Accutane, most doctors are not willing to consider it's use in pregnant women. Just wondering if anyone has used differin while pregnant and if your doctor was okay with that.

Burts bees blemish stick safe during pregnancy? I'm suffering from acne, as I'm sure a lot of you are! I do have adult acne that is only controlled by birth control, and Benzaclin, none of which I can use now! I was at CVS today and saw that Burts Bees has an acne line. Most of their acne products utilize the natural form of Salicylic Acid. I know SA is a no-no during pregnancy...so I steered away from it..even though it's the natural form and only 1% SA. I did find a Blemish Stick by burts bees, that is mainly tee tree oil. It did NOT list Salicylic Acid as an active ingredient {like it's other acne products DO}, but does contain "willow bark extract" which is the plant from which salicylic acid is derived. Another salycilic acid question...? I'm 34 weeks pregnant and didn't know about the risk of salicylic acid until today while browsing the web. Advice on who to listen to about acne treatment during pregnancy? I have severe acne that was pretty under control with a daily 3 step system (Clinique's acne system, containing salicylic acid and benzol peroxide). After finding out I was pregnant, I stopped using it because I read that it wasn't safe on an online baby website. Soon after stopping the treatment, my entire face became covered with acne- every inch of it, worse than I'd ever seen on anyone in my life. At my first prenatal appointment, the nurse felt bad for me but said there really wasn't anything I could do but use a plain cleanser and maybe some baking soda for a scrub. Yesterday I had another appointment and I asked my OB if there was anything I could do about my acne. He suggested things like the 3 step system I had been using, and told me that so long as I was using it externally, I would be safe. I'm so confused now! I do not want to take any risks, but at this rate, my complexion is going to be scarred for life. I don't even want to show my face in public! I swear, nobody will ever see a picture of me from this pregnancy...or my wedding (getting married in a month). What on earth is a girl to do with all this conflicting advice? Someone asked why I'm giving the internet so much 'clout'...I'm not giving the internet any credit, just stating that as the reason I stopped using my acne treatment in the first place. What the issue is, is that my OB's nurse told me to absolutely stay away from anything with salycilic acid (one of many acne fighting ingredients she advised me to avoid), then my doctor turns around and says it's okay to use it. My OB has been wrong before about a few things (leading me to seek treatment for a condition elsewhere) which is the main reason I would have any doubt in what he says.

Scared! Acne/pregnancy worry.? I am really scared and panicking now. I am just over 15 weeks pregnant. I have been avoiding everything I should be, but gave no thought to acne cream I have been using. Are night creams OK to use during pregnancy? I have an Olay night cream that I stopped using because I had heard that certain ingredients in night creams cant harm the baby. The same things were said about salicylic acid - which my doctor laughed at and said that there is not enough in any facial cleanser to do any harm whatsoever. Mario Badescu Drying Lotion while Pregnant? I'm freaking out, is this true?!!?!?!?!? I just read in a n article in a pregnancy magazine that using salycylic acid causes birth defects. Both my moisturizer and my toner and an acne spot treatment I use occasionally contain this. I went to the store and realized that almost ever acne cleanser, moisturizer and toner does. Are either of these things safe to use during pregnancy? Clinical strength deodorant? Salicylic acid face wash? Just wondering. Thanks. My face wash does not contain benzoyl peroxide.

Treating plantar warts during a pregnancy??? I have a wart on my hand that I've been treating for a while now - -the problem is that I may be pregnant - should I continue w/ the freezing treatments or is it dangerous to the baby? I know that salicylic acid is a no no during pregnancy so I assume this would be too. Is there any other - more natural & safer methods of treatmnt?

Are there any specific topical acne medications that should be avoided during pregnancy? I heard that salicylic (sp?) acid could be dangerous, but what about things like pro-active or things comparable to that (I think they contain benzoyl peroxide)? I'm so thrilled to be pregnant but my skin has gone crazy! lol

Acne medication in pregnancy? I am 9 weeks pregnant with my second child. I have been using a daily moisturizer with salicylic acid in it, to prevent acne, for years now. Not even thinking, I've been using the moisturizer throughout the beginning of this pregnancy. I read the other day that it is not good to use acne medications during pregnancy because it can cause defects to the baby. Has anyone else used this during pregnancy? If so, what was the outcome? Thank you :) Also, I do not plan on using this anymore. I already bought a new cream, that does not have acne medication in it. I just want to know if the exposure that has already been made will cause any problems.

acne and pregnancy...? is it safe to use salicylic acid or benziode peroxide while your pregnant? im 11 weeks and was reading a magazine and it said to avoid it/them? i use dermalogica and my face wash has salicylic acid in it and i sometimes use clearisil which has benzoide peroxide... i have a doctors appt this week so i'll as my doctor but until then im just curious on why not to use them and if it true..

do you know of facial cleansers? does anyone know of good facial cleansers to use during pregnancy that doesnt include salicylic acid~?~ thnx for the help

Mario Badescu Drying Lotion pregant? I bought the MB Drying lotion today because it's listed under the "Pregnancy" section of the Mario Badescu website, only to get home and see that it has salicylic acid in it. Is it such a little amount that it's okay? I'm too scared to use it, and I'm mad that the website says something so contradictory!

I have been using Neutrogena the Advanced Solutions Complete Acne Therapy System for about a month and now? im reading online that using acne products containing salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide are not safe during pregnancy! they had already told me sonething was wrong with my baby and now im just freaking out that i might have done more harm! i didnt know it wasnt safe with my last pregnancy my last doctor told me it was fine but now researching it online apparently it isnt safe! so since i used it for this amount of time has it already affected my unborn child? or if i stop now will there be no harm done? sorry if i sound paranoid but i dont want to cause my baby to have any more problems!

Major ACNE now that I'm preggie! Help?!? I never had oily or problem skin before I got pregnant but seems like since just a few weeks in my skin has been oily and new breakouts are a daily occurence. They stick around for weeks too! I had been using ProActiv here and there before pregnancy when I would get a breakout to quickly calm it and get rid of it but I read that it has too much salicylic acid for pregnant women to use it so I switched to St. Ives Apricot Scrub hearing that the product worked wonders for other preggie women. Guess what... made it WORSE. All those tiny granules clogged my pores more and I had a major breakout just a few days after using it. Anyone know of anything else that I can use to help with majorly angry skin? I read today that Oil of Olay with witch hazel works great but I'm not really anticipating spending a ton of money on a bunch of different products til I find one that works, what has worked for you? KK - did you mean that is HAS looked better or really that it hasn't been working but you're going to keep using it?

skin care face wipes during pregnancy? ive only just read (and the info is equally divided) that pregnant ladies shouldnt use products that contain salicylic acid well ive used it up till now ,but im going to discontinue ..(Neutrogena face pads) and just wondering what other people have heard about this
