Is there anything to help with caffeine withdrawal symptoms? I really want to stop drinking diet soda and after several attempts I think it would be easier to start smoking and try to quit. I have tried weaning off and that only works for a little bit and then I keep adding one, then two more sodas a day until I am back to where I was in the beginnging. I can easliy drink 6 or more cans a day. I am thinking of going cold turkey since that was the one way I was able to in the past but I can't afford to spend a week or more with migraines. Anyone have any advise?
Caffeine withdrawal symptoms? I've gone from drinking around 8 cups of coffee a day, to only drinking 2. I'm suffering headaches and feel tired. Are these symptoms anything to do with this? How long will they last for if so? Thanks.
Caffeine Withdrawal Symptoms... ? So, for the past two - three weeks I have seriously cut down on caffeine. Instead of one-five cups of coffee and/or a few cups of Coca-Cola, I'm having no coffee or Coke to maybe one Coke. I've had a huge headache that Tylenol wouldn't help, an inability to concentrate, serious fatigue so that I can't get up in the morning, chills, slight nausea, and a slight fever (my normal is 96.4ish and I'm 98.4ish). Days when I have caffeine in the morning my symptoms go away for quite a few hours and then start to come back. Then the next day I will feel so worn out I can't go downstairs to get coffee. Is this caffeine withdrawal? I'm unsure about the fever and the fact that I'm so worn out some mornings. Anyone? (= i went to my doctor and he said he didnt kno wat it was but hed treat for the symptoms and if it didnt go away in a week hed see me again >.< oh, and im a vegetarian, could it possibly be that im not getting enough protein or vitamins?? i take one a day
Are these symptoms of caffeine withdrawal from sodas? I cut out all sodas and coffee cold turkey 2 days ago. And boy, am i ever feeling it. Symptoms ranging from headaches, nausea, lethargy, fatigue, irritable. Are these normal? I took advil and it did nothing for the headache. Any advice? Thanks
Can a person have withdrawal symptoms from caffeine? For the past few weeks I have drank between 2 and 3 energy drinks a day. Usually The Rockstar kind or Monster. I have been feeling sick for days now and I stopped the drinks to see if that was causing it but 3 days later I still feel terrible, no energy, nausea, headaches, upset stomach, mood changes. I feel almost like I have the flu but I don't.
Can these be symptoms of caffeine withdrawal? I quit caffeine cold turkey 3 days ago. I used to drink a lot of sodas and coffee. First day was massive headaches, then it turned into feel lethargic and tired. Now on top of all that...my head feels like its in the clouds. Kinda like a foggy feeling not to mention lack of concentration also. This stinks. Any help would be appreciated.
Is chest pain a caffeine withdrawal symptom? I took a lot of energy drinks in the past few weeks...I mean A LOT!(school is the cause, but that's unimportant now) I stopped taking them two days ago, and I had had little to no energy...I felt so lethargic and I've gotten around 10-11 hours of sleep each of these past two days. Is chest pain a normal caffeine withdrawal symptom?
I'm having caffeine withdrawal symptoms? today I started the 30-days-isagenix program and I'm not suppose to drink coffee or any thing that contains caffeine. I'm having severe headaches and I can't have any pain killers either? what can I do to ease the pain? and how long will these symptoms last? I'm in so much pain my head hurts
I've recently quit drinking caffeine, are these all normal withdrawal symptoms? I quit two days ago and before that I drank about 4 cups of soda a day and drank coffee a bit (both for about 4 years). Caffeine made me my cheery self, and helped me get through the day. Since I've stopped I've started Having massive headaches Feeling extremely tired, all of the damn time Become extremely impatient at everything Become extremely moody By body hurts every damn where I also can't concentrate....I'm having extreme difficulty doing my school work..I took me hours to finally finish a paper I could've normally finished in about 20 minutes. After writing that, caffeine withdrawal seems more and more like a period >_> It may also be worth noting that I didn't completely cut off caffeine at my normal consumption rate, I gradually lowered it, and then cut it.
Need to know what's going on with caffeine withdrawal....? Alright, I used to drink about 4L of pepsi per day, and energy drinks and everything. After a long time, I decided I had to quit. I made it through the headache, and I thought I made it through, but I still haven't.... It's been almost three weeks. I'm completely exhausted, irritated, and angry at everything. I just want to feel normal again. I want to have energy and be able to think. Why aren't the caffeine withdrawal symptoms leaving?
How can I minimize caffeine withdraw symptoms? Three days ago I switched to decaf coffee and tea. This is in response to my realization that I had developed an addiction and the caffeine is overstimulating my pituitary which is presenting in various symptoms. I started with a headache two days ago that will not go away. I'm also feeling generally lethargic and having withdrawal symptoms. Any suggestions for minimizing these symptoms? How long will this last? FYI... I am not a soda drinker. I drink lots of water and I eat a whole foods diet. I also excercise daily.
How long does caffeine withdrawal last? I quit drinking coffee, tea, and all kinds of pop just over two weeks ago and I am still getting mild headaches and feeling a little sluggish. Has anyone else out there experienced withdrawal symptoms this long, and if so what did they do about them? Thanks.
Caffeine Withdrawal? I am considering cutting my caffeine intake way down, nearly completely out of my diet. Has anyone suffered from withdrawl symptoms when cutting caffeine? Right now I would be considered a heavy caffiene user, 6+ cups a day
Caffeine withdrawal? Over 2 weeks ago, i was up all night online drinking pepsi. That monring my heart was pounding. And i was all nervous. I'm 15 and i told my parents about this. They said it was the caffeine in the pepsi. Stayed up during that whole day and went to bed around 7 am. Got up at like 10 pm. After i woke up i was still tired. Is it the caffeine withdrawal causing this? The fatique and mind foggyness, Lightheadedness? I was drinking pepsi so much and NOOOO water at all. I was prob drinking it 4 days in a row without NO water. I went through about 3 liter bottles in about 3 days. I doubt its my sugar. Right now my symptoms are starting to go away. But the other day i started drinking dr pepsi. (had 2 glasses) and it came back again. Erghhhhh hehe any advice?
What's the max amount of time that Caffeine Withdrawal can last? I'm a 15 year old male, I used to have several cans of soda per day and then all of a sudden I stopped mostly for my teeth, and then I had basic caffeine withdrawal symptoms for a few days(headache and stuff,) but also I had trouble with my eyes like I couldn't focus and they were sensitive to light..that was last week, but now all of the symptoms are gone except for the eye thing...am I just having extended symptoms because I used to have like 7 cans of soda per day and went to 0 cans per day?
No Diet coke / Caffeine for a week. Withdrawal symptoms/weight gain help!? Before I cut out coke my BMI WAS 21 AND i was normal in weight. I have not had diet coke/ caffeine in the last 5 days and have put on 5 pounds in 5 days.I feel tired, had the worst headaches ever, and been feeling very sick. Is this common? And why the weight gain? Does caffeine speed up your metabolism or something??? I havent changed my diet or anything but 5 pounds in 5 days for not drinking diet coke is CRAZY. Now what do i do?
Will this cause caffeine withdrawal? So everyday I have one or two coffees, which are pretty strong. Today I had like 5 coffees and my mum foundout and banned me from coffee all weekend. Cause I always have coffee at the same time roughly, will this cause any withdrawal symptoms? Cause I've had this routine for about 18 months. Thankyou :) I'm 14, she's paranoid. I <3 coffee.
Caffeine withdrawal question...is this normal? is it normal to smell coffee and tea out of nowhere? it's nowhere near my house and i can smell it like it was in a cup right in front of me! is this part of the craving/withdrawal symptoms? The smell is so STRONG. I've quit all caffeine cold turkey and it's been about 3 weeks since I've taken any.
How long does caffeine withdrawal generally last? I've been drinking at least one cup of coffee everyday for about 6 1/2 years. Prior to this, I had been avoiding caffeine completely for a period of about 3 years but a medication for headaches containing caffeine. I'm sure I'll experience some kind of withdrawal-I generally never drink more than 1 cup but sometimes have drank 1.5 for extended periods of time and it's coffee that contains a high amount of caffeine. I've read that withdrawal symptoms, if any, last up to 9 days but something tells me that they would be longer? In the interest of providing coherent details, I just thought that I should add that I was "prescribed a medication for headaches containing caffeine", not just "but a medication for headaches containing caffeine." as it appears. I would go back into the above paragraph and edit this awful grammatical error/ommision but that is not possible.
how much caffeine does it take to become addicted?might my current headache be related to caffeine withdrawal? what is the equivilent of this in number of coffees. Also, how is caffeine metabolized, how long does it stay in the system, how long after your last caffeine intake before you experience withdrawal symptoms, and how long do you need to abstain from caffeine before you are no longer addicted. I'm just curious, in the last 2or 3 days I have been drinking energy drinks, this morning I had a coffee, and this evening I have a headache. I don't normally drink coffee or energy drinks. Might I be addicted already and suffering withdrawal or is my headache something completely different? Any references to comprehensive websites appreciated.
avoiding caffeine withdrawal? I drink a lot of caffeine most from energy drinks..I really want to kick the habit, but I am scared of being lethargic and tired all day..what can I do or possibly supplement to avoid the withdrawal symptoms??
Rash from caffeine withdrawal? On a whim, I decided to go without coffee for a while and see if it improves my natural energy level. I've been drinking only one 15 oz mug a day, so I figured it wouldn't be too bad. I didn't get any withdrawal symptoms until about 36 hours after my last cup and then... I promptly decided now isn't the time. O_O. Massive headache, nausea, dizziness, muscle aches. The works. So I drank a couple cups of coffee. Symptoms eased but didn't go away. I haven't been able to eat most of the day. That's the background for my question. Tonight, I have a bumpy rash all over my arms. This is weird and I cannot think what it could be related to if not my non-caffeinated folly earlier today. I found one reference online to someone reporting they had a rash after quitting caffeine. I was wondering if anyone has heard of this symptom before? Not really a reliable source, no. It was just a forum that popped up when I Googled. Someone reporting an odd reaction to quitting caffeine and wondering about it, like I am.
Can caffeine withdrawal cause acne? This probably sounds like a weird question. But I quit caffeine cold turkey about three days ago, and haven't had any since. I've been having some normal caffiene withdrawal symptoms- but those are normal. I've been drinking soda (at least one to three a day) since I was a toddler (maybe three or four) and I'm thirteen now. Except I've expected most of the withdrawal symptoms and its worth it too, they dont bother me although they are a pain. But here's my question- Can caffeine withdrawal cause acne, too? I normally have mild acne that is never very bad, and was almost entirely gone due to medication. But as soon as I stopped the caffeine- it's gotten even worse then before, and I have a huge rash of it on the right side of my face. I know it sounds strange, and improbable...but it hasn't been this bad since I was eight (I've had my acne THAT long). Also I haven't been under extreme stress from quitting caffinated soda, so I dont think thats it...but maybe its physical stress and not mental? Help please.
Can caffeine withdrawal cause heart palpitations? I haven't had any caffeine since Sunday. I am giving it up. For reason I don't even know. Just to see if I can do it and, keep off it. I had a couple heart palpitations since quitting. Is this one of the withdrawal symptoms? I've also experienced, irritability, jitters, twitching, headaches, upset stomach(minor), dizziness, lack of concentration and fatigue. When I first tried to quit, my heart stopped racing and pounding at night. Now when I quit this time, it still pounds and I didn't even have any soda. I was hoping my heart would stop pounding from quitting not, continue. So my question is, can caffeine withdrawal cause heart palpitations? I hope this stops soon. I do not like it at all. I don't know if you would call it jitters. Just very minor shaky feeling? I also feel the need to have more sugar. I guess that's from not having any soda. Soda's have tons of sugar. Caffeinated sodas was more source of caffeine.
How long will a caffeine withdrawal last? I'm trying to quit caffeine because of a certain medicine I'm taking and I have extreme fatigue and body aches or is there anything I can do to stop the symptoms and long long will they last before I get to feeling better.
Can you feel caffeine withdrawal a week after giving up drinking a lot of caffeine? I've been drinking Diet Coke for about 23 years, I gave it up about a week ago, I limited myself to 1/2 to 1 half drink of something caffeinated a day. The first week was fine but the past 2 days I have felt horrible (almost sick) and sluggish! Did the symptoms take that long or could I really be sick? Why didn't I feel like this right away?
Caffeine - Addiction, Tolerance & Withdrawal? I'm just wondering about this because ive started using proplus pills, i know it can have an addiction, people say it cant cause addiction, but people need like 3 cups of tea/coffee to function in the morning just to function, no-one can say that isnt an addiction how long of taking these will it take me to get addicted? will i build a tolerance? what withdrawal symptoms is there to caffeine?
What withdrawal symptoms will i have? I'm stopping drinking regular sodas tomorrow and going to diet caffeine free ones and practicly only water and i know i'm going to get withdrawal so will anyone tell the me the symptoms? im shaky now...and i really only had 1 soda today(very unlike me i usually have 4 a day)so is this a part of it>
How long do withdrawal symptoms usually last? I used to be taking 200-400 mg of caffeine a day from those caffeine tablets. Today, I woke up with a headache and I didn't take them today. I had some ice cream and that helped my headache. Do you think my headache will come back tomorrow? How long doyou think caffeine withdrawl effects will last? Sources? i'M 16, 5'5" and135 LBS.
Caffeine Withdrawal - Lower Back Pain? I was expecting a killer headache, which i received, but after recently stopping caffeine intake (about 2.5 days ago) my lower back also starting to feel really sore - a dull aching pain, not a spasm or anything. it's really tight - difficult to sleep. is this a symptom of caffeine withdrawal? i can't think of another reason for it - i'm fairly active and fit otherwise. yeah i'm thinking i need to introduce caffeine again and then gradually reduce. do withdrawal symptoms go away fairly quickly after caffeine intake?
I have withdrawal symptoms, Should I just give up? I have shakes and shivers. My body is out of control. Thankfully My brain can resist this. I can't seem to stop the shivers and shakes though. I haven't had caffeine since yesterday. I use to drink 6 cokes a day.
Caffeine withdrawl.. advice? So ive read online that caffeine withdrawal symptoms occur as soon as one day after stopping for 2-3 days and can last up to 10.. In my case the symptoms didn't start until about the 3rd or 4th day.. and this is the 8th day i'm currently on. I get the short but sharp painful headaches, and VERY fatigued. Is this normal? has anyone else who's quit drinking sodas and/or caffeine experienced similar symptoms? From all the websites i've visited it seems like they should have stopped now. ANY advice will help thanks also i know the best thing to do is gradually stop drinking sodas, that would almost eliminate the withdrawal symptoms but i cannot do that, its too late and the quit drinking caffeine thing is between me and my girlfriend we both just stopped my caffeine consumption wasnt too bad either.. 1 or 2 sodas a day, sometimes none
quitting caffeine.... how long will these symptoms last? after 10 years or so of caffeine addiction, i've finally decided to bite the bullet and quit!! it's been a week now. and i STILL have a severe throbbing headache. yesterday i was having heart palpiations. earlier i was really nauseous. and in general i've just been light-headed, moody, grouchy (who wouldn't be with a constant headache!!), and having random bouts of extreme tiredness. i know these symptoms are normal for caffeine withdrawal, but WHEN WILL THEY END??!! i've googled it, and every place says 2-3 days. HA!! it's been a week with no respite at all. i haven't even quit completely yet. i've been gradually reducing my intake all week, and i'm now down to 1/4th the amount of what i used to drink. i'll probably go down to zero tomorrow or the next day. so.......for people that have actually managed to kick the habit.....how long did it take you to feel physically well again???? i feel like im about to cave and just start drinking coffee again if these symptoms don't subside soon........
What is the best remedy for caffeine withdrawal? I think i am suffering from caffeine withdrawal. I have flu like symptoms but i know its not the flu. I have a headache, eye ache, my back aches, and i have nausea in the morning. I drank a bit of caffeinated tea, and I felt a ton better. But I am afraid I will have to drink more to feel completely better. I also took cal mag tablets, but I just don't want to feel like crap anymore. I have a lot to do today and I can barely function cause of these symptoms. So what is the best remedy for this? thanks i had two cups of coffee and two cans of dr pepper on friday and saturday is when i got the withdrawal symptoms. I had plain yellow tea today no sugar or milk, and I feel a lot better. thanks :)
Is it weird that I would experience caffeine withdrawal symptoms when drinking caffeine? So, I gave up caffeine. Three days later I was suffering horribly. It manifests in headaches, toothaches, and earaches. After those days of being miserable were over, I took just 1 drink of soda, and immediately got all of those symptoms again. Yeah, but that's what is happening. After the caffeine is out of my system and I intake it, I get those symptoms. It does limit the amount of caffeine I take in though.
How long does caffeine withdrawal last? I drank 12-24 cans of diet coke a day everyday for years. I stopped drinking it, switching to propel and the occasional sprite a month ago and I'm still getting headaches and other symptoms. When can I expect these to go away?
Do I have caffeine withdrawal? Friday i had two dr pepper cans around dinner time. And 2 cups of coffee right before I went to sleep. The next morning I was nauseous and had flu like symptoms. I took advil throughout the day but didn't feel any better. I don't have the much caffeine but that day I consumed a lot. Does that go for caffeine withdrawal? thank you so much glaser!
Caffeine Intoxication & Withdrawal? Alright, heres my problem. There was about a month long period where my diet (sadly) consisted of large amounts of sugar and caffeine. On top of that, I would go running 1-2 miles at night and those things were probably still in my system. There was one time when I had 5 red bulls in a day. About two to three weeks ago I experienced what I thought to be a minor heart attack. Fuzzy/Fatigue/Cool feeling in arms, tight chest, heart palpatations. I experienced this on the way to work so I called a paramedic, they said it was caffeine overdose and that I should flush out my system, eat, and get rest... what did i do? Go to work. 2-3 weeks later I'm still experiencing these symptoms after dropping caffeine, like right now for example I feel like I have had an energy drink or coffee recently, when it's been over a week. Rapid heart rate, tight chest, fuzzy feelings... Are these from withdrawals? The headaches have come and gone already.Answers are much appreciated. Also, ER or Doctor?
How could I NOT be addicted to caffeine? I have been drinking daily Red Eyes and Black Eyes (coffee with shots of espresso added) for almost 10 years. Last month I decided to quit caffeine cold turkey. I was ready for the worst--headaches, fatigue, etc. But...........nothing happened? I had no headache, no withdrawal symptoms, and I didn't feel any different at all. I started drinking my Red Eyes again. I just realized I didn't have any coffee today (first time ever) and again........no withdrawal symptoms. How on earth is this possible? Did anyone but j2then actually read the question?
What are some effects caffeine (pills, energy drinks, ect...) can have on the body? I'm not really of the hard core energy drink or pill group, but I'm trying to write a short piece about a girl and her best friend. In short he's a recovering drug addict after nearly dying of an overdose, she's taking caffeine pills and drinking energy drinks like a fiend to try and keep up with her responsibilities and school work. He think that she should stop, but she insists that they're not drugs and that she'll be fine. She continues this habit until she starts having long lasting affect that she cant ignore, she permanently damages her heart or dies. Or something of that nature.. It was going pretty well until I hit a snag. Is that even possible? I've researched some, but what I read was fairly fuzzy and unclear. What are some of the short term and long term effects of caffeine abuse? what are some problems caffeine can have on the heart? Other organs or organ systems? How long do you normally have to abuse caffeine to get permanent damage? can excessive caffeine use lead to certain heart conditions? Problems with the brain? What are some symptoms to caffeine overdose? What are some symptoms of caffeine withdrawal? Also, if you could give me extra information beyond my questions that could make my piece more realistic would greatly appreciated.
How can I break my addiction to caffeine? It's REALLY bad...? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~SHORT VERSION: I'm 15, i drink A LOT of energy drinks, and im addicted to caffeine. in 2008 I had over 16 gallons of Monster energy drinks. i tried to quit, and didn't have any caffeine for 2 weeks. I had withdrawals, and they were really bad. I was ALWAYS tired no matter what time it was, but i couldn't sleep at night despite the fact that i was tired, i had random, severe depression for no reason whatsoever, headaches that hurt more than anything I could have ever imagined (even 3 ibuprofen didn't help at all), I was randomly nauseous (2-3 times a day every day), I couldn't focus on even the simplest tasks, and even if i could focus on something, i had no motivation to do it. how can i quit caffeine without feeling withdrawal symptoms? How long will it take? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~DETAILED VERSION: I know this is really bad, because my doctor told me it's the worst caffeine addiction he has seen it his 45 years of being a doctor, and the other yahoo answers questions only described headaches. I'm 15 years old. I drink A LOT of Monster energy drinks. I keep the little tabs from the top of the can whenever i have one and put it in this box in my room (one box for each year). i recently counted them all up from 2008, and here's what i drank from 1-1-08 to 12-31-08: 68 regular cans (16 fl oz) 28 XXL cans (24 fl oz) 9 BFC cans (32 fl oz) 1 Hitman shot (3 fl oz) thats a little over 16 gallons. I want to quit, because i know it's horrible for me, and it's SUCH a waste of money, but i tried, and i had the WORST withdrawal symptoms in the world. I didn't have even a sip of Monster, or any caffeine (not even headache pills with caffeine) for two weeks (ending today, I had a BFC today), and those were the hardest weeks of my life. Here are some of the symptoms I had: I was ALWAYS tired no matter what time it was, but i couldn't sleep at night despite the fact that i was tired, i had random, severe depression for no reason whatsoever, headaches that hurt more than anything I could have ever imagined (even 3 ibuprofen didn't help at all), I was randomly nauseous (2-3 times a day every day), I couldn't focus on even the simplest tasks, and even if i could focus on something, i had no motivation to do it. Those went on over 2 weeks with no signs of slowing down at all. Today I had a BFC, and i was in the best mood i've been in for about 2 weeks. I need to quit caffeine, this is really bad. How long will it take to get through the withdrawals? How can I get through withdrawals feeling as little symptoms as possible? another withdrawal symptom was that i would twitch a lot out of nowhere, sometimes in mid sentence, and it was bad too. it happened to me before i tried to quit caffeine, but it was more severe during those two weeks its not that i want to drink caffeine again , i really dont, but the withdrawals are so bad i feel like i NEED the caffeine.
Caffeine/Sugar withdrawals? I think I'm having Caffeine/Sugar withdrawals but I'm not so sure I've got a bad headache feel nauseous feel sleepy palpitations now and then Does this sound like withdrawal symptoms? I have no idea I've started a diet because I need to lose about 10 pounds and I thought cutting out caffeine and sugar would be a great boost.... can't say I'm feeling the benefits as of yet, feeling pretty lousy and miserable actually. I've also cut out alcohol but I didnt drink that much anyway, maybe 3 bottles of wine a week and a couple of small bottles of cider. =(
caffeine withdrawal headache? so i had this headache all day yesterday and yesterday. i took nyquil for sinus pills last night so i could sleep and the headache was gone this morning after i woke up but came back quickly! i was wondering if it was just a symptom of pms or if its because i needed caffeine in my system. advil was not helping AT ALL. its usually the only thing that gets rid of my headaches, but not this time. i drink ....red bull... almost every day before work. which is 3 or 4 times a week. i hadnt had any yesterday or today. so i had a feeling that might be it. i bought a red bull and after drinking it my headache is pretty much gone. D: am i addicted to caffeine?????? now i fill jittery >_<
How can I stop drinking so much soda when I'm literally addicted? It's almost sickening how much soda I drink in a day. Don't get me wrong, I only drink water or Pepsi. Whenever I try to stop drinking soda, I get these horrible headaches. My Health teacher told me that I get bad headaches because its my body's withdrawal symptoms from the caffeine because I'm addicted. How can I stop drinking soda without the painful headaches?
When will the caffeine headaches end? After drinking 3-4 caffeinated drinks per day for YEARS, i finally decided enough was enough. I started reducing my intake to 1-2 cans per day, then I cut it out completely a few days ago. The headaches are brutal...and I am not sleeping well. My eyelid is twitching too...when will the headaches and withdrawal symptoms end? Any suggestions?
addicted to caffeine? If you drink fizzy drinks that has alot of caffeine in it like coke, do you get addicted? Coz i love coke so much and always drink it when i get the chance! (not today though coz im trying to detox off it been drinking water, but its hard! lol) coz when i dont drink it for like a day, i start to crave it and get withdrawal symptoms like head aches and shakes. what is that? thanks x
Coffee Question? If I drink one cup of caffeinated coffee everyday during the week at work. Will I have caffeine withdrawal symptoms on the weekend when I dont drink coffee? Mostly headaches and irritability every weekend. Has this happened to anyone?
Do you need caffeine to keep you going? Do you need caffeine to keep you going? Like say you drink a can a pop during the day, then later do you want another 2 or 3 more cans of pop? And if you don't get to drink them do you feel like your going through withdrawal symptoms? Me I'm a pop addict, I have to have 2 or 3 a day otherwise I'm in withdrawal.
WHy does caffeine do this? Cause your mind to be so damn foggy and fatique. I been having withdrawal symptoms for almost 2 weeks now. I havent drank pepsi for about 3 days and i had 2 glasses. The day before i had dr pepper and had a glass or 2. Could that be causing that of the caffeine in the soda's? God its a horrible feeling. I feel like a floating cloud with my head floating around. haha Also, 2 days ago after i drank pepsi i started having heart palpations. Then they started to go away. Could it be like cuz of my blood pressure dropped after the caffeine was outta my system and its causing this?
why is cocaine illegal but caffeine isnt? They both have similiar effects, in fact the only real difference I can see is that pure cocaine is slightly more toxic than pure caffeine. 3-4 cups of strong coffee back to back is enough to kill you or at least cause serious intoxication. The reason most people dont die from caffeine is that its not given out in pure form as cocaine is. I dont want to hear that cocaine is dangerous or addictive because caffeine is just as addictive and people show similiar withdrawal symptoms. The thing most people dont realize about cocaine is that the form found on the streets is highly concentrated pure cocaine hydroxide...PURE things will cause bad effects and addiction...the actual coca leaf only contains 0.2% cocaine hydrochloride which is not an effective dose. The same as if you took a bottle of Everclear(90-proof pure alcohol) and tried to drink it you would die...is the same as if u took pure cocaine and tried to consume excess quantities. The danger is not in the drug but the dosage. The intensity is caused by the concentrated product of cocaine hydrochloride though. We cant go and buy concentrated, pure caffeine. The coca leaf itself is not dangerous and would give a legal outlet for impoverished farmers in south america to sell their product. Oh yea..and as the guy below me said...all the street violence would end if these drugs were legal. Pfizer and other drug companies would take over their distribution and there would be no money to be made in selling the drugs on the streets.
how long do caffeine withdrawal symptoms last? i gave up caffeine cold Turkey about 2 weeks ago and now i have no symptoms except for extreme tiredness. i used to drink 7+ cups a day. i usually get up, after an adequate nights sleep. then after 3 hours or so i am really tired again! its so bad i usually have to have a 2 hour nap just to function for the rest of the day. im assuming this is due to the lack of caffeine but how long will this go on for? any advice would also be really appreciated.
caffeine withdrawalllllll? So its my 10th day after having a caffeine withdrawal. My accelerated heart stoppped. I got so used to it beating so fast, now i feel like weird. Like im getting over the symptoms. But i keep worrying about my heart. I notice when i have my mind occupied im all okay. Like today i mowed the lawn. I felt normal. Soon as i sit down i start worrying. Is it that my body is getting used to my heart not beating fast? lol or am i just a big physco :D
I am very confused abut Lexapro Withdrawal? I found a WikiAnswers page that listed common complaints/withdrawal symptoms when going off Lexapro and guess what.. I got ON meds to begin with because I had most of the very symptoms that people experience when getting OFF the med: Extremely vivid/ active/bizarre dreams all my life but major complaints being: Electric shock sensations around my mouth, with occasional "brain zaps" followed by difficulty breathing (as if I couldn't get enough air) then a "cataplexia" type reaction where I would slump, slur my words, feel 'unreal" then fall promptly asleep. Everyone said it was anxiety/panic. I have tried to understand this for YEARS because I would feel that way while doing activities I THOROUGHLY enjoyed (watching tv, being around friends, playing computer games, driving etc). My cocktail has almost completely fixed all of my complaints, but my questions still plagued me. Why the reaction when relaxed? I mentioned this to my pdoc again and he finally wrote me a script for an EEG to see if I'm having seizures (the EEG is to be preformed both while I'm awake and asleep. Now I just need to find someone who can give it lol). Anyhow, every time I've stopped my meds the complaints roared back to life in full force by day 3. (Which coincides with much of what I read from others). I've always assumed it was just the anxiety/panic reaction I've always had while not medicated. It's very interesting to me that people have these sensations from **withdrawal** and I had them before seeking treatment (as well as "withdrawal'). For me, I have those sensations often hourly, often every day for 8 years now (when not on meds). I call them "adrenaline zaps" and surges. I'm loosing more and more faith in meds and of finding any peace from these symptoms. Anyhow... now I'm all the more curious if what I'm now going through from no meds is withdrawal or my original problem resurfacing lol And I'm curious about what causes the withdrawal in other people- is it from the med itself or too much/not enough of some hormone? Because what if that relates, somehow to my original symptoms. I know I'm beating a dead horse here.. I've asked similar questions before. But when I found that site, it roused more curiosity lol The only thing new and original that's going on since stopping my meds is nausea and loss of appetite . I feel that those are my withdrawal symptoms and the rest is just the same 'ole same 'ole. I had a big religious assembly this weekend and at the end of it I was emotional and entered a panicked state... an hour and a half later, when I was able to check, my BP/pulse was 150/96 and 114 (resting- but a fast pulse is normal for me) I'd hate to know what it was in the middle of my attack lol *sigh* I REALLY hate this. But I need to be med free for the EEG, so...... Anyone have any theories, encouragement, advice? I've cut out caffeine, so hopefully that will help *some*.
Is Caffeine and Guaranine completely the same? In the article; http://www.healthline.com/natstandardcontent/guarana, I am a little bit confuse about the elaboration of caffeine. What I understand about Guaranine is that, Guaranine has synergistic effects caused by its consistuents that are saponin, tannin and xanthine but in Caffeine there is no synergistic effect. If that is the case how come they claimed that they have the same withdrawal symptoms?? Can anyone please elaborate?? Thank you. im sorry about the error. is this http://www.healthline.com/natstandardcontent/guarana im sorry about the error. is this http://www.healthline.com/natstandardcontent/guarana
Pregnancy symptoms, summer, or stress??? My girlfriend has been complaining of a persistant headache for the past three days and mild tiredness. Also she just started her period on last saturday and we thought she was done with her period around wednesday but she says it kinda started again around wed. or thursday and its still bleeding a week later because its now the next saturday. However, its also the start of summer and her sleep patterns have been out of wack. she goes to bed around 3am or 4am and goes to work around 10am. also, shes a big coffee drinker and has cut back on it the past weeks. i dont know if her headaches are from caffeine withdrawals and lack of sleep or if all the described symptoms or due to pregnancy or if its even something else for the bleeding. also, shes been kinda stressed out for being an incoming freshman for college and shes late with her registration papers and having some family problems so maybe its stress, but i dont know. please help.
Want to learn something about recreational drugs? Recreational Drugs Some people take recreational drugs; it seems like a fact of life. Their use has been around since the dawn of man. They were historically taken in a religious setting but now are used for enjoyment, medication, and inspiration. Obviously not using drugs is the healthiest option but I doubt humanity will ever fully discontinue using recreational drugs. Since their use is so common and widespread I thought I might write out some facts about the most popular ones so if you do decide to use any of them you know the effects, risks, etc and can make a more informed decision. Caffeine- Caffeine is a stimulant that effects the cardiovascular and nervous system. It is legal and easy to obtain. It causes increased heart rate, blood flow, metabolic rate, and respiratory rate. It increases alertness, elevates mood, and decreases fatigue. With frequent use the user runs the risk of becoming chemically dependent to caffeine. Withdrawals from caffeine can cause difficulty concentrating, nausea, anxiety, and insomnia. It is possible in extreme amounts to overdose on caffeine and permanently damage the cardiovascular system and possibly result in death. Tobacco (Nicotine)- Nicotine is a stimulant that effects the cardiovascular and nervous system. It is legal and easy to obtain. Using nicotine causes increased alertness followed by a sense of relaxation; it also reduces appetite. With frequent use the user runs the risk of becoming chemically dependent on nicotine. Nicotine withdrawals can range from insomnia, weight gain, constipation, anxiety, restlessness, and difficulty concentrating. In extreme dosages nicotine use can result in overdose (usually with patches). Using tobacco products has been shown to cause various kinds of cancer depending on the method of use. Mouth, lung, throat, bladder, larynx, kidney, stomach, etc. Alcohol (Ethanol)-Ethanol is the depressant found in alcohol, it effects the nervous system and thins the blood. It is legal and easy to obtain. Using ethanol causes euphoria, reduction of inhibitions, and gradual decrease of motor skills depending on dosage and tolerance. Frequent ethanol use can result in chemical dependence and in higher dosage overdose. Ethanol withdrawals can be very severe and range from depression, nausea, headaches, shakes, and cold sweat. If you are chemically dependent on ethanol you should consult a doctor, as Detox can be fatal if not done properly. Ethanol has also been shown to cause various cancers such as, mouth, throat, liver, larynx, etc. It also has been shown to cause serosis and damage various organs in your body (esp. liver) Strong Psychedelic Drugs (LSD, Psyliocybin, Peyote, Salvia Dinorum)- They are hallucinogenic drugs that effect your nervous system and chemicals in the brain. Using these drugs cause changes in mood, distortion of reality, dissociation, synathesisa, and hallucinations with all senses. You cannot become chemically dependent to any of these drugs but you can become psychologically dependent to them. This means that you feel a psychological need to use the drug but you will not suffer any chemical withdrawals if you discontinue use. These drugs effect how you think and perceive the world in a very powerful way. The quality of your experience depends on your mood before use, the location you take them in, and the people you are around. Based on these conditions you may have a positive, life changing experience or a negative, horrifying experience. Because of this risk it is recommended you have an experienced sitter who is there to watch over you and console you. The sitter is also there to make sure you don’t do anything dangerous or stupid while you are hallucinating. If you have previous mental issues these drugs may make them worse. They effect how you think and may cause you to bring up old issues and cause mental distress or even a mental breakdown. Hard illegal Drugs (Meth, Cocaine)- These drugs are considered hard because like alcohol they have a high rate of chemical dependency and severe withdrawal symptoms. They are also highly illegal. When used they cause euphoria, altered mood, increased alertness, insomnia. They have a high risk of chemical dependence and their withdrawal can be fatal. They are similar to other stimulant withdrawals but more severe. If you have a chemical dependency to these drugs then you should consult a doctor since the withdrawal can result in death. Smart drugs, Pharms (Rx drugs)- Prescription drugs are relatively easy to get and are legally distributed by the medical companies. Their use causes a wide range of symptoms including, altered mood, relaxation, increased alertness, sedation, reduced inhibition, among others. Rx drugs use in higher frequency can result in chemical dependence and in higher dosage can result in overdose. Rx withdrawals can be very severe and you should consult a doctor when discontinuing their use because the withdrawals can be fatal. T Cannabis is weed.. Psilocybin is the active ingredient in shrooms... obviously you need to learn a few things yahoo answers cut out the cannabis section(not enough room) sorry! Cannabis (THC)-THC is a mild psychoactive drug that effects the nervous system found in the buds of the cannabis plant. It is illegal but fairly easy to obtain. Its effects are highly varied depending on (location, mood, etc see strong psychoactive drugs) however the most common are, increased sensory experience, altered sense of time, increased appetite, change in thought process, euphoria, relaxation. The over load of sensory experience can cause short-term memory loss for the duration of the high. You cannot become chemically dependent on THC but you can become psychologically addicted (psychological need to use, no withdrawals when use stops). There has never been an overdose of THC and many believe that although it is theoretically possible in use it is impossible to use that much THC. If you use THC by smoking the buds of the plant the smoke from the burnt plant matter can irritate the lungs. Other methods of THC use such as inhaling THC vapor or digesting activated THC
Extreme caffeine withdrawals... could it be something else? Ok, so it's all the standard stuff with the headaches and all that good stuff. But it's been 3 days and it's like I'm having the same symptoms as someone on, like, heroin (which I am NOT). I'm shaking, and my vision is switching from being really blurry to normal simultaneously. I've had this happen once before, when I was forced to go 6 days without caffeine, and by the end of it, it was like I had the flu. I know other caffeine addicts but none of them seem to react in ways as extreme as this. I was wondering if anyone else has had reactions like this, and if so how you dealt with it? Or, if not, any ideas of what else it could be? Thanks -Kayala
Thyroid problem? For the past 3 weeks i been feeling just weird. Fatique, no energy, cant concentrate, irritible, depressed like also a little constipated. The symptoms come and go. So then hes like ill make an appointment on friday. He was gonna call today to make it tommorow and he never did. I'm just worried. I keep thinking maybe its still symptoms of caffeine withdrawal, because i was drinking so much pop 3 weeks ago. Could it still be my body is craving the caffeine? I dont think its my blood sugar. Last time i went to the doctor they took it and said it was 86, Im a little bit overweight also. Just worrying me. I guess he doesnt believe me at all. I attend to worry about my health alot though. Im the type of person if im not feeling well, i wont tell noone until it gets worse. Its because my dad has alotta health problems also and my mom and dad knows i worry about my dad alot

Ohh and im 12, and 5 ft, 3 inches, and weigh 46 kg, and yes i have a good social life
Am I Addicted to Caffeine? I drink one cup of coffee usually every day, but recently at about 3:00 I get a dull headache, and it seems that coffee was the best solution. I've read that addiction usually only occurs if you have large amounts of caffeine for an extended time, so i was wondering if this could be a withdrawal type of symptom?
for real coffee addicts ? how much coffee does it take to actually get addicted to the caffeine? (where there are actual withdrawal symptoms, i.e. headaches). I drink a lot of coffee every single day, yet i don't believe i am actually and truly in the literal sense, addicted.
I am 16 weeks is it "too late" to reverse the effects of caffeine on my unborn baby? Okay this is very bad but all throughout my pregnancy I have drank a chai tea with about 100 mg of caffeine in it per day. I plan to stop caffeine starting tommorrow. I dont care about withdrawal, I'll drink water to ease the symptoms. but is kind of too late at 16 weeks to reverse the bad effects and start fresh? also studies show a link between caffeine and miscarriage...if I am 16 weeks could this still be a worry of mine? and if caffeine is linked to miscarriage, is it also linked to stillbirth?
coffee & anxiiety??? I have a major anxiety problem, and I've heard that coffee (caffeine period) can cause anxiety disorders. I haven't had coffee for four days but this anxious feeling hasn't gone away yet, and I almost had another anxiety attack just yesterday. Could the anxiety also be a withdrawal symptom being that I was drinking coffee everyday then suddenly stopped? How long would it take for the anxious feeling to go away, along with the anxiety attacks? Should it have been gone after the first day or two? Or would it take a week? Two Weeks?
Coffee?? Anxiety?? If coffee can cause you to feel anxious and have anxiety attacks can quitting coffee make the anxiety worse (being the withdrawal). I read up alot about coffee causing anxiety and so I decided to quit. After 6 days of not drinking coffee I felt my anxiety slowly fading as the days went by though hadn't left. If anxiety can also be a symptom of withdrawal can it take 2 -3 weeks maybe even more? After the 6 days of no coffee and avoiding other products that contained caffeine, I decided to test myself and have a cup. It'd never happened before but I had a major anxiety attack not too long after the coffee. So now I'm back at block one. Has anyone else ever found that having coffee or even going too long without coffee has brought on an anxiety attack and if so how long will the withdrawal symptom (anxiety) last for? I've found that the anxiety has been worse since I quit drinking coffee hoping that it's just a withdrawal symptom and that soon it will go away.

What is wrong with me? Earlier today I started feeling sort of dizzy and shaky... but more floaty than anything else. At first I thought it was withdrawal symptoms because I forgot to take my zoloft last night, so I took it. Then I started thinking maybe I'd just had too much caffeine, so I took a nap. I woke up an hour and a half later and still felt... floaty, but not shaky or anything, so I wrote it of to having napped in the middle of the day. But now, 3 hours later, I still feel weird and floaty and sorta detatched. What is wrong with me? Just in answer to a few questions... I have been taking zoloft for almost a year now. I actually doubt it is due to withdrawal, since I was only about 14 hours late when I took it. I've missed two days before, and only after over 48 hours of missing doses did mild withdrawal symptoms begin to show (and even then, I only got the weird electric eye twitching). I haven't eaten in a while, which might be my best bet, but the caffeine might be a factor too. I usually only have one can of coke (34 mg caffeine) in a single day and it usually takes me about two hours to finish one can. Today I had a can and a half in about an hour.
Why does this happen? I'm a caffeine (more accurately, coffee) addict, with no intention of quitting. I have been drinking it for a long while. But I was just wondering why, before I have my daily java, I don't experience any withdrawal symptoms, but once I smell coffee, I start getting a headache and in general feeling like crap, until I can get it. I'm curious about this. Ten points to anyone who gives me a good answer. And no, lecturing me won't do any good. Believe me, others have tried...and failed. ♥ to my fellow addicts out there. ;P ~brunetttie
For those who have used Suboxone???? I have a few questions about this medication...My bf is currently on it for his heroin use and I would like to hear from anyone who has/is been on this medication and how they dealt with it while using it and those who have been able to live life without it. Did you experience any side effects? Did you drink more caffeine? (My boyfriend asked bc he is up to 10 cups a day...though I think it is him getting back to work and the time change...) What was life like once you were off of it? Any withdrawal symptoms? Did you use again or did you have the urge? If so, how did you fight it??? Any answers would be appreciated from those who have any sort of experience with this subject as I worry considering what I have been through with my bf before he decided to finally get clean...Thanks : )
Trying to cut back on soda, any advice? I made a promise to a good female friend of mine that I would cut back on my soda intake. Some days I've had soda by the liters (eek!), other days it's about 3-5 servings (12 oz). I'm thankful my teeth are still intact (for now), and I know if I continue my habit life ahead won't be good. I've developed side effects with my soda habit though. For one I know I am addicted because on most days, I drink soda just to get a "buzz", like I'll drink and then afterwards I'll be like "why did I just drink that?" I am pretty tolerant to caffeine (I crash after drinking soda), but I still crave more, and this often leads to sleepless nights (energy drinks much?). Finally, especially after drinking Bawls and other drinks ,I can feel my heart beating crazy (scary I know). My ultimate goal is to give up soda, but I'm starting off slow (from 3 times a day to 3 times a week to 3 times a month, or something like that...). Any advice. What are common withdrawal symptoms? (last soda 16 hrs ago).
Rate my report, please (1-10: 10 highest)? CAFFINE: THE GOOD AND BAD By Elizabeth Marie Hachet Why is Caffeine Bad? (Part one) Caffeine is the modern drug of choice in the work world, easily accessible, socially acceptable, readily affordable, and of course perfectly legal. As for the health effects, I’ve read evidence both for good and ill, so right now I don’t fall strongly on either side. One thing is clear though — caffeine is addictive. And this addictive nature is what leans me towards the negative side.” You wouldn’t take drugs, right, knowing they were against the law? Well, caffeine is not a drug. It’s in everything from coffee to soda to chocolate. Most of us have it every day without realizing it. Now, don’t get me wrong. It’s not against the law or anything. It stimulates your system to give you energy (which is why most people need that cup of coffee when starting the day.) However, if you drink too much, you CAN BECOME ADDICTED TO CAFFINE. Yes, addicted to caffeine – permanently. There is no way of stopping this, and you will be diagnosed as a “caffeine addict.” That means you’ll never be able to stop drinking caffeine – as long as you live. Yes, I’m dead serious. According to the study, published in the October 2004, issue of Psychopharmacology, the combination of symptoms that result when steady users abstain from caffeine has an official name: caffeine withdrawal syndrome. Yes, withdrawal, as in withdrawal from addictive drugs. Definition of withdrawal: 1. to draw back, away, or aside; take back; remove: She withdrew her hand from his. He withdrew his savings from the bank. 2. To retract or recall: to withdraw an untrue charge. 3. To cause (a person) to undergo withdrawal from addiction to a substance. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- “Not to long ago, a friend of mine and I decided to go off soda for a month (with cheat days once every week.) We didn’t ease into it slowly; instead, we jumped right into it. I got a caffeine withdrawal – even though I don’t usually get them, I got one the first day (I don’t drink soda every day), and I had one for four days after that. However, after the fourth day, I was no longer craving caffeine or soda, and even though we had then set up a soda day once a week, I still am no longer craving soda.” – Elizabeth Hachet, 15. I would love to hear about your experiences with Effexor? Hi, I have recently stopped taking Effexor XR75 after only four months of use...when my mom was sick, then died, I just needed some help. Now I am feeling like a heroin junkie without it, ie, I am having a lot of the symptoms listed of withdrawal. I also recently quit smoking but I am using nicotine replacement. I love my caffeine as well. If you are going through any of this, I would love to know how you are dealing with it, whether you have ever felt unsafe (phys or emotionally) from either use or withdrawal of the med. Recently a lot of seemingly isolated discomforts, I have traced them ALLLLLL back to the substances in my body and particularly withdrawal. It also can't be all that hard to imagine complications from nicotine and caffeine. If that is your story, I really wanna hear from you! Please let me know how you are doing, any tips to clean up my system safely, what to expect, how long before I feel better...personal experiences only please! Thank you very much! Let me clarify a few things: I am moody and tender hearted but not suicidal so please don't worry about this. I'm pretty safe and as a precaution a lot of people are looking in on me, supporting me, etc. I really don't want to restart Effexor just to taper off if I can help it. I want off and I don't want to switch to another anti-depressant. I honestly don't think I will ever take psychotropic meds again and I certainly won't take them lightly. I can tolerate the physical symptoms of withdrawal, but more than anything I wonder if withdrawal ever brings on more serious problems, like heart attack or stroke. If it is just my body telling me to get more effexor...no dice. Let me also explain about my depression. I am relatively confident that it is situational, even though I was going through a looooooong situation. Most of my anxiety/depression is due to being the caretaker during my mom's illness. Then she died, I was her roommate. I am lonely, etc but very much relieved now that she is gone. I miss her but I don't worry about her, you know? Also, my life is looking up! Lots of stressors but things are good...moving, new job, finances are coming back together, I have and will continue to have a rock solid support system. So my life is getting back on track without her and I am starting to define myself apart from my late mother. Basically this was a situation that was a long time in the making. My efforts to get healthier are good at this point but I'm miserable. I quit smoking only to need nicotine gums, etc more than I ever smoked. And I have gained a lot of weight. I will try taking better care of myself. Thanks for the kind words from all! AND I am part therapist myself. I work in the therapeutic community. I am surrounded by people who can help me deal with this stuff on an emotional level. I'm not IN therapy? But a lot of the people I am friends with help me through it, and I have skills of my own. I am very much aware of my emotional needs at this point. And my grieving is natural, and well monitored by me, and my friends, and all the therapists I work with. So it's not like I'm doing all this in a box. I would love to keep in touch with any of you, feel free to email me at musicimprovedme@yahoo.com. Oh and Professor, I don't have much confidence in my doc anymore either. Case in point, I am asking for advice here instead of with him...he was pretty negligent to give me this stuff knowing I am so easily addicted to other things. Last add on, I promise, thanks everyone for reading and responding.
should coffee be made illegal? coffee's active ingredient methyltheobromine or as it is referred to on the street "caffeine" is a bitter white crystalline xanthine alkaloid that acts as a psychoactive stimulant drug and a diuretic in humans. This naturally occurring compound belongs to the same family as crystal meth a schedule 1 drug. the initial effects or "high" of caffeine is a feeling of increased energy and ambition, the user feels less tired and more alert and joyful. Caffeine tolerence builds up quickly however leading up to increased doses being required to achieve the high. Caffeine is chemically addictive and produces short term withdrawal symptoms. the lethal dose of caffeine is only 10 grams. other schedule 1 drugs such as "marihuana" the dose is 80 pounds Caffeine may also be a "gateway" drug. although not all caffeine users use hard drugs almost hard drug users have used caffeine. Caffeine should be made a schedule 1 drug as it has no accepted medical use and is often abused. say no to drugs
What can replace Gasoline and Drugs in the U.S. economy? Look at the list of our consumables: Gasoline, Alcohol, Caffeine and Nicotine are the top of cash-flow chain. They are all things that we, as a society, need to wean ourselves from, if only because the various juices will eventually run out and cause possibly violent withdrawal symptoms. My question is: What's the next machine-dispensable product that everyone will buy?
Quit smoking, need advice? I am a heavy smoker and have decided last week to quit. I know i'm really ready for this and today is my first day without a cigarette. So far it's going well and i don't have any cigarettes with me, but i would like to know from ex smokers if there is anything that i can maybe eat or drink or do that will help for the withdrawal symptoms and cravings. I know any alcohol and caffeine is a definite no-no. Any advice from anyone who has been through this will help a lot! thanx
