my father is 86 and had a silent heart attack? he is in the hospital and they just told my brother that his heart is only working at half strength and he already has a pacemaker, how long can he live in this condition?
What are the symptoms of a silent heart attack? My mom woke up in the middle of the night gasping for air. The next thing she knew she had a seizure like episode....blacked out and woke up on the floor. She has never had a seizure, and she is 55. She spent 3 days in the hospital, and they couldn't freakin figure out what went wrong. Could she have a blockage that would cause that. (in her heart) Also she has been having chest pains since the incident too. ??????????
cardio doc claims i had a "silent heart attack"? i got a report from the lab after some discomfort that i showed a past myocardia infarction. i didn't even know what that meant. didn't ask and doc didn't take a moment to explain. assumed i understood. i chanced to look it up on the web and was surprized. asked my family doctor who had failed to read the report as well. i had felt pressure from time to time but never had intense pain they say comes with a heart attack. cardio man and gp said it must have been a silent attack while i was asleep. docs have that thin red line like cops have the thin blue line. i now do not trust any of them. they have sneaky looks and i sometimes suspect they carved me up with a four-way bypass and a subsequent mountain of pills and bills and they were partially or altogether motivated by economics of a heart speciality heart hospital. i met one caring old nurse in icu.. also got a "care bear" as a parting gift. grandma died well. mother is close. now me.
Ischemia - silent heart attack!? My mom-in-law passed away 24 Nov 2006 because she had an irregular heart beat - died of silent heart attack. The doctor told my hubby he must get tests done to see if he's inherited the irregular heart beat. Anyone know how big the chances are that he might have the same thing?

Will an EKG always detect whether or not a person has had a silent heart attack? I've had an EKG, which turned out "normal". However, I've been having all sorts of crazy symptoms that are not going away: mild pain in inner arms that comes and goes, heart flutters, chest shaking, fatigue (especially in legs and arms), budging veins, persistent hiccups, heart "gurgling". Primary Care Doctor says its just stress/anxiety, and put me on some Beta blockers, but the symptoms are still there. I'm only 24, but I've read that a silent heart attack is not unheard of for someone my age. Any advice from someone in the medical field would be appreciated. The EKG was conducted a couple weeks after all of these symptoms began.
How can doctors tell if you've had a heart attack? Tonight I learned about a man who had a "silent heart attack." This was discovered during a physical and prior to an EKG. How are doctors able to reach this conclusion?

Now i'm a type 2 diabetic and suffer from several other medical problem's. i can no longer drive a semi because of my health, but have been denied disability. Do heart attack victims qualify?
What tests are recommended after EKG shows heart attack? Possible silent heart attack. What tests to show damage?

Which medical tests are used to detect silent heart attacks? Impact, are you saying that the doctors who claim patients have had silent heart attacks are always wrong?
Are these symptoms of a Silent Heart Attack? I am 13, and I am losing a little feeling in my left arm, and even less lower on the left side. I was just watching an epic action movie, when i started feeling this. I also ate 5 small sausage links about 45 minutes ago. I am having cold sweats (probably because i'm nervous), And it feels like there is an on-off blockage at the top of my arm. Please help as fast as possible, it could be an emergency. My parents will just think i'm overreacting, and i don't get the numb feeling often. I eat alot of meat, so that can't be too good for my heart of course. But i am not quite overweight.
Are there silent heart attacks?Or are there always symptoms? I am having a disagreement concerning this matter and need your worthy opinion.Do people always know when they are having a heart attack , are there symptoms or does it always creap up silently? Is pain in the left shoulder blade and heaviness in the left arm more a symptom of heart attack or cancer?I know it can be anything but please decide and help me to settle this matter.
Heart attack question? Is it possible for a person to have multiple heart attacks over the span of a few weeks/months, not know it and still be alive? The person is not diabetic so not at a high risk of a silent heart attack.

How risky is LVEF of 32% after heart attack? My dad suffered a major heart attack in the last week of Aug 2008. He underwent angioplasty and was in hospital for almost 12 days. As per the doctor, it was a massive heart attack and there were two blockages of 99% and 95% respectively in LAD.[ It was silent heart attack and the procedure was done after 8 hours the attack started. Unfortunately, we had no clue that dad was suffering a heart attack :( ]During angioplasty, which lasted for almost 2 hrs and 30 min there was a dissection, as there were two bends in the artery and i believe calcification because of the delay in procedure, which seems to have healed by now (as per a CT scan done one month after heart attack). My dad seems to be perfectly healthy with no symptoms whatsoever. However, we got an ECHO done 10 days ago and it showed an LVEF of 32% and EFof 35%. I am worried. Is this serious? My dad looks perfectly fit, walks for 2 hours everyday and has no chest pain, breathlessness etc.
Is this a heart attack? Chest muscle soreness? Well since about Tues I’ve had what seems to be light soreness not the intense kind you get after not working out in a long time. My upper body just feels stiff or heavy when you flex it from the muscles around both shoulder blades and the pectorals. Also I felt a stiff heavy sensation around my sternum and near my collar bone last night. But more so when I inhale. My upper left near the sholder and arm pit just feels a little tight. But the thing is that it’s not unbearable. I'm not crying in pain, have dizziness, or lightheaded, or nausea, or shortness of breath, no jaw ache, no finger tingling, no pain in arms, no sweating. I feel alright other then that I can walk and have good sprits, I'm not all down. I just got out of church and the driving on bumpy roads bothered me a little but sitting in the church and back home I feel ok. For information I'm 20 and overweight. But not extremely obese I played football all four yrs in HS and so I do still have some muscle. If you want to get an idea of my size just look at the actor comedian Kevin James. But also here is some medical history. My dad had diabetes who just passed away on 12/17 at the age of 58. Almost a year ago they hospitalized him and found he had a bad heart. He had lots of blockages but the deal with him was he never wanted to go to the doctor I don’t think he ever got his heart checked. He smoked also. I don’t smoke and don’t drink. They put him an ICD. They also told him he had several silent heart attacks. They had to place him on dialysis. Even though he was in decent shape he was 6' and always weighed around 190. My mom’s family heart history is good. My dads only sister had a heart cath done in Nov. and she has been overweight since her teen yrs, but her results were good not one blockage. Last night I was doing home work for about 3 hrs strait in the same sitting location and this bother me a lttle. I stopped and I felt OK. I checked my resting heart rate with my watch and it was 85,82 lasts night now 78. I have no insurance and for the past few days I've put any medical attention off due to that fact. But now I realize after seen my dad I can’t take a risk. But I’m thinking or I'm going call the Drs. office on Monday since is now a weekend. Or shoud rush in to an ER? Sorry I've typed so much iand my grammer is bad, im just being paranoid I guess. Thanks!
Need help with silent heart attacks.? What is the procedure of removing a blood clot 3.2 cm * 1.44 cm in dimensions from the upper vertex of the left ventricle (LV) of the heart?
Had a heart attack 4 months back at 30? Hi, I am just 30 years old and had an attack 4 months back. It was a silent attack with me bearly realizing that something this huge has actually happened. Now I am really worried. I want to know as to what are the chances of me having another attack even when I am continuing my medication and controlling my diet? How bad are the chances for me to live to the age of 55 - 60? The doctors I met are pretty vague in their answers. Thanks in advance for your valuable feedback.

Heart Patient sweats severely at night! Suggest expert advice.? My father (57) got a silent heart attack in January 2000; he is also a diabetic. He has been constantly taking the following tables: EcoSprin (75mg), Losacar A, Tenoric (25mg) and Euglin (1mg) for diabetes, Zinetec for Gastric. Every winter he is sweating very much in night! Presently he has to change two baniyans(vests) at night because of sweating. Otherwise he is fine; glucose levels are also in control. His doctor is clueless on why he is sweating. He got a heart attack possibly also because of high antibiotic dose given by a doctor for cold and cough a day before the attack came. His attack was described as “silent”; he was all blue and sweating on 16 January 2000, the day of the attack. Please inform how the sweating stop will and why it is happening in every winter. Please help.
Heart Capicity, Angiogram questions? I recently had a nuclear stress test. The results aren't very good. It shows my heart capacity is between 35% and 39%. The cardiologist thinks I may have had a silent heart attack in the past, yet I feel fine. I am over weight but not terribly and im 50 years old. I do not get winded easily. I'm going in for angiogram this week. Can anyone give me some insight on my condition and what this test is like. I'm not fond of this test and have a terrible phobia about anything being in my body. I'm going through with it regardless but just want someone with some sort of experience to tell me in layman's terms what my future might hold and what to expect as far as the test.
Have you ever had a heart attack i.e. stroke? did you feel like barfing before, during, or after you had the heart attack or stroke? there are also silent strokes syndrome that means you can have a series of small strokes without realizing it some of the common signs are unexplained headaches - dizziness - etc.. I did post it under medicine I just wanted more answers. But it's alright for idiots to post lame questions that never get removed in this section? get real.
need heart surgery but lungs are damaged I was told they can't do the surgery help someone is surgery possible My sister is 60 yrs old had a silent massive heart attack and didn't know it and it ripped a hole in her heart. She passed out went to hospital and was told she has asthma and acid reflux and possible beginning of COPD. This happened in Oct.05. She is in the hospital now was hoping to have open heart surgery but now they say her lungs are to bad of shape and they will collapse so she is basically getting some breathing treatments and same medicine inhalers she already takes to help improve her lungs but doctors do not seem very hopeful about it. They are going to send her home in a day or two. Does anyone know any one in a similar situation that was helped or a procedure that could help her. My dad was the silent type so I can't say he ever told me lessons on life I was still child like at that age. I am now 40yrs old . I always wondered..What do you think He Would have wanted his Son's life to be like? Can you make a guess?
Can arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease cause a sudden and silent death? My mother was never diagnosed with this disease until after she died. Furthermore, she never received an autopsy. I've researched the term and this disease causes heart attacks. But when we found her in her bed she didn't look like she had suffered a heart attack plus she never called us for help, she went silently.
Tim Russert of "Meet the Press" has died of a heart attack at 58? Can we stop bickering for 5 minutes and say a prayer for him and his family (or a silent moment if you don't believe in prayer) http://blogs.usatoday.com/ondeadline/2008/06/nbcs-tim-russer.html?csp=34
My uncle has a condition called "cardiac ablation" and am curious what the long-term recovery process is. he has had a pacemaker for a few years now; had "silent heart-attack this past Saturday.
Did my dog have a heart attack? I have a 15 year old Maltese Pomeranian cross, last night after him getting quite excited when i got home, he fell to his side screaming in pain, then went silent, i picked him up and his head fell to the side and he did not seem to be breathing, I thought he was dead, i placed him on my bed, and his head twitched a few times like he was in the final stages of death, i felt a very faint heart beat and just kept patting him and talking to him, after a few minutes he seemed to wake up and raised his head, he eventually got up and seemed fine after about ten minutes, there was no body shaking so i do not think it was a seizure...any advice would be helpful....Karen

I have a cold and last night I could barely breath! and i was having sharp pains in my chest and when i cough or walk or anything really my chest feels really really heavy and my chest is starting to bruise! I have asthma but I have never been this bad! Im wondering if I had an asthma attack, or a silent heart attack or something! Stress test results confusing? I had a chemical stress test done early in Oct. I was told after-wards by my physician that I have had a Silent Heart Attack. They don't know how long ago. I am having shortness of breath, fatigue, a chronic cough, and various other symptoms. I am 46 yo Female, still menstruating monthly, and all my blood levels are normal or at the high end of normal. Sugar level 99 Thyroid normal, Cholesterol 182, LDL 105, Trig 159, have had 2 EKG's done, both Normal, blood work at the ER done and all Tests were Normal. No indication of a Heart Attack. X-Rays show no Pneumoniaa, No emphysema, No Heart Failure, (it says only to consider Asthma as reason for my chronic Cough) My concern is that I was told I have had a heart attack by my physician, but the cardiologist told me that the stress test is only a screening test, and that He can not say for sure if I have had a heart attack or not.... But then He asked me if I wanted to have a Heart Catherization done so I would know for sure if I had had a Heart Attack. Then He asked me if I wanted to do a Echocardiogram as well--- !!! Shouldn't he be able to tell me if I need these tests, and shouldn't he be able to tell from the Stress Test for certain if I have had a heart attack or not? Lastly, can anyone tell me if the medicine they use can have lasting effects, cause I am still having on and off a Fiery Burning feeling in my chest (most often occurs if I am anxious or upset). Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, D Cobb
How much does a DE-CMR cost? Is it the sort of thing insurances usually cover? First, let me qualify my first question: Using a rough average, not taking into account insurance coverage, how much does a delayed enhancement cardiovascular magnetic resonance (DE-CMR) test cost? I've read that they can be used to find out if a person's had a silent heart-attack. I have some of the symptoms associated with a silent heart attack, but they could all simply be symptoms of being obese and out of shape. Then again, that's the nature of a silent heart attack. So, while I don't feel a great deal of urgency about getting this test, I'd like to know if it's something I could afford. I realize that you cannot tell me the details about my insurance plan, nor could you tell me my local hospital rates. Generalities are fine.
The 2D Echo-cardiogram ,,? Can it be normal, when earlier ECG showed a silent heart attack
Should i get divorced? I am 34, my husband is 28, i am starting a radiology course in sept. and my husband currently has no job, he has been unemployed for almost a year ad a half, he has no GED, I keep telling him to get his GED so he can get a job with UPS or anything that requires GED. He was working with the union cable/electrical company, but its seasonal, so its hard for us to manage our expenses. He is not looking for a job, he seems ok, and i m worried because he has no goals!! i want to have a kid, i am getting older, but how r we going to raise a family if my husband dont even bother to look for a job, or go back to school? and he used to be a pot head, recently he had a silent heart attack, under 40%, so we have been in and out of ER, because he thinks he is getting a heart attack everytime, and all tests in ER come out good. He has anxiety, and he is on medication. I need help with what to do, I thought about leaving him, but he is unemployed and sick, i feel bad, but is it fair to me? what future r we gonna have?
What is a good diet for someone trying to help their blood pressure and cholesterol? Recently my boyfriend who is only 24years old has been getting a lot of nose bleeds. The doctor says that one of the reasons is due to his super high blood pressure. He thinks he has had a silent heart attack before while running for PT in the US NAVY. He needs to be in shape for his job and must be able to do the 6mile run every week. What kind of diet would be good for him? Our main goal is to help his heart and lower blood pressure along with cholesterol. He doesn't need to loose weight at all, I just want his diet to consist of healthy foods that bring down cholesteral and high blood pressure. If anyone knows of some of those foods please let me know. THANKS!!
My hubby's face gets very red during the day then reverts back to normal? What could be the cause...he does not have high blood pressure neither does he have rosecea. But it happens when he gets tired.......he had a silent heart attack some years ago could it be associated with heart problems. He appears to tired very quickly too. Could it be down to his sinuses as he does suffer with sinus problems. Next appointment with doctor well over a week a away. Any ideas please? Clare what do you mean by a carb face??? My hubby is not overweight and does not have fat face.
Difficulty dealing with doctors, nurses input appreciated? It seems like my mother has been bounced back/forth between specialist, NO ONE is willing to help her & I'm desperate for advice. 3 wks ago she had acute pancreantitis, the ER dr said she needed her gallbladder ASAP. She was told npo except liquids & was referred to a surgeon who was going on vacation. He said he'd see her when he got back & to stick to the liquid die, she's lost over 30 lbs in 3 wks. He said he wouldn't touch her anyway till she saw a cardiologist which she did & she went thru a stress test which showed she had a silent heart attack BUT the dr ONLY apparently communicates thru letters or has his nurse call so we can't get ANY answers from him to any of our questions. Mom ended up in ER again then was released for acute pancreantitis again. The cardiologist said she needs an angeogram but to go ahead & have surgery, that if she runs into any "snags" during surgery the surgeon can call him. This doesn't sound right to me, but he's supposed to be a good......... dr. There isn't much time to get a 2nd opinion & she's already been bumped around to 3 different surgeons and everyone is dragging their feet on this while she's getting sicker and sicker. She doesn't have a primary dr. Can anyone offer any advice on how to get the drs to speeding things up? She has a consultation with a surgeon on the 7th of april, which is 10 days from now and thats not even surgery......she's getting so weak and no one will help us. Any advice on how to deal with these drs would be so appreciated...thx.
Pacemaker cost is too much , what can i do? medicare wont cover my grandmothers pacemaker what should i do? She had a massive silent heart attack which damaged completely one of her arteries beyond repair and on another one they did a bypass, the third artery is doing just okay. She's been in the hospital for a week now and had various exams all and now they are saying she needs a pacemaker but that medicare is not willing to pay for it. I just dont know where to go from here. Is there aspecific hospital that would take her paying a monthly portion of it. Or who should i ask or talk to , i want to avoid her getting stressed. thank you for any suggestions.
What would you name this story??? I have written a sonnet for my h.s freshman class and i wrote it about a boy that fell in love with a girl tht was 13 years older then him (unlucky number) and there parents didnt except it so they ran off to a unknown place and got marriied ...she later on in life had a heart attack (silent killer) and now the husband feels alone without her and is just waiting around to die
Do I have a Heart Problem, I can't feel my pulse much? I don't know if I'm over reacting to this. But a couple of days ago (about 3) I ate a lot of food (it included teriaki noodles, cookies, hot chocolate, ground beef) and about 20 mins after I got pinching pains in my chest. My brother told me it was heart burn so I waited about 14 hours when it finally went away. About a day after that I noticed pain in my upper left arm. I've heard that ppl get pain here if they are going to have a heart attack or something. I tryed to ignore it....it's been 2 days now and the pain is still there (on and off)....also, the weirdest thing, is I can't really feel my pusle that much for the last 2 days. Even if I put my hand in the center of my chest it's hardly there. Even when I do some sort of activity outside...it's like not really that noticable....plus the pain in my arm is on and off. I was thinking the pain might be from using the keyboard. There's a certain game I play that requires my left arm to be up on the keyboard at all times... Maybe that's why? Is it normal for me not to feel my own heartbeat? I've just been feeling weird symptoms...for the last 3 days. I am 23 and have no history of any heart problems...I'm going to the doctors today and am REALLY nervous (even though I am nervous my heart is really slow, and silent...it seems) Usually I get full blown panic attacks too that make my heart race but even my panic attacks wont make it beat fast...it's so weird. One more thing is, if I take a deep deep breathe there will sometimes be pinching or a throb of pain the middle of my chest...sometimes. I don't get it...it's really scary. Any ideas anyone?
should i play silent hill games if.. (+ little poll inside)? ..scariest moments in games for me was in half lifes 2 ravenholm city, i wasnt too much scared, but at start when i just just entered city i creeped when saw what awaits me and at some other unexpected zombie moments some too, must admit i played at day though '=} also fast attacking and moaning zombies sometimes gets me if environment is dark or scary but i just watched silent hill movie, and there wasnt any moments where i would have been scared a bit, but i know that games are scarier, so i wonder how many times they are scarier than movies? and should i play them? are they interesting aside from scare factor? and im not sure about my self, sometimes i dont get scared at all of different scary shit, but sometimes from same kind of stuff i afraid and very much to the state i cant sleep 8/\ its like mood swings or something x] so considering all this how do u think should i try silent hill? i'm a bit intrigued after watching movie, and is it true they are one of the scariest games out there? which one is the scariest? how many times u creeped when playing it? cant ppl with weak nerves have heart attack or something? does pyramid head has anything to do with storyline? and is there connected storyline between all silent hill games? and btw why does ppl get urge to play or watch scary stuff and get scared at all huh? and which is like the very scariest game ever at all? oh noez really? i knew it! Dx ... ..i'll play that game! >=}
Silent Hill-Has anyone see this movie and what were your favorite parts of the movie and did you get scared? I remember the first time I saw that movie, I watched it at night time and I had the headphone eat piece that you connect to your TV and I almost had a heart attack and I almost jumped out of my skin cause that was just how scared I was, then I had to watch how the movie was made and then when I went and watched it again it was boring, anyway is there going to be a Silent Hill 2 based on how the first movie ended. 4-30-08
So there's this guy... {Please come here both boys and girls. I need opinions from you both}? There's this guy at my school and I really like him and I need your help... I'll start from the beginning. I was angry when this one guy said he loved me but never did anything. He asked me out and then a day or so later he said that he wasn't ready for a relationship. This ticked me off later but right then, it hurt a lot but I didn't want to let him know, I don't want him to do anything that he's uncomfortable with. So this went on for awhile and we did nothing. We were good friends, meaning we talked a lot and he was in our little circle of friends. Nothing happened for awhile and he started to flirt with one of my friends. I didn't do anything again, it was his life, I had no hold over him, but it hurt again. I wanted to look for something to take my attention off him, something to focus on. Another boy maybe, so I started looking. {I am a 16 year old sophomore girl in High School} No one in the school could get my mind off him and I looked very hard to find someone to look at maybe, just let me focus for a little while. I looked when I went to all my classes, surveyed my lunch {In my school we have A lunch, B Lunch, and C lunch.}, during the transmission time when we walk from one class to another and I hurried outside to sit by the entrance when school was over to make sure I could see the students coming out to go home and maybe find the solution to my problem. This went on for a week or two and nothing happened. I was going to give up one day when I saw him. He had long blonde hair with thin glasses and maybe blue eyes? {I never got close enough to check} With a black and white checkerboard hat on and black clothes, I won't go into details because I don't exactly remember the rest except what I already said, he wears roughly the same style every day so that's how I know. He is taller than me and really thin, not bony but perfect in my opinion. He was beautiful, erm..."Handsome", It was like he was a fallen angel. He is gothic, clothes style, not the attitude as much but still in the stereotpe of goth. He was with his friends, goth too, and they walked past me just talking. I knew I'd found the one I'd been looking for, for these past two weeks. That was the end of the first encounter. I watched him now as often as possible. I felt like a stalker but I couldn't help it, just seeing him made my heart jittery and my day so much more brighter. I didn't look for him like to find where he is at all times, I only took a seat outside after school and waited for him to pass by and for a large enough distance between us so that I could look but not touch. Windowshopping I suppose. He was so beautiful to look at. Like a model. My second and third actual incounter with him was basically this. {He was alone}"Hey.. Umm... Hey... -pokes his shoulder-" "-.- Oh, umm hey?" "I like your bookbag. >.<" "Oh, Umm... thanks." "Where'd you get it?" "Hot Topic." "Oh cool. Thanks" "..." -done- That was the first time he noticed my existance. The second encounter was: {He was with his friends}"Hey? Hey? Hey? HEY!" {It was noisy outside} He turned his head slightly and so did one of his friends. "What..?" "What's your name?" "-name-" "What?" "-name-" "What?" His friend turned around and shouted it while laughing slightly. -done- I talked about him with my close friends, they wouldn't say anything I hoped but I guess one of his friends heard from them or me when I was talking about him to another friend {He'd walked past while I was talking -I didn't give his name in the conversation but I did freak out when he walked past-} But anyway... One day I was talking to my friend and he and his friends walked by and I watched him out of the corner of my eye. One of his friends is looking at me and grins before starting to talk to his friends then the object of my attraction turns his head and looks at me. I think I had a silent heart attack. I was afraid of being rejected by him. He did nothing and they continued, now he looks at me frequently when he and his friends are walking out to their busses. {He is in none of my classes saddly, I think he's a Freshman or a Sophmore, I'd never seen with before so I'm guessing that he is new} At one point, I'd looked up at him and he was looking at me and I think he smiled. Today, I was walking in the halls to go to the library with one of my teachers and he was coming from the opposite direction {my school has shops/majors and that area of the school had only shops in it and it was the end of the day, Block 4 and only Freshmen and Seniors have shop 4th block so I'm guessing he's a freshman} and he was looking at me the whole time before he passed me. A week ago he was looking for me it seemed when we were outside. I had moved from my normal seat to sit further down the sidewalk on the railing and he was looking around for me while I was talking to a friend. The reason I believe he was looking for me was because after he saw me, he stopped looking a He has a nice personality from the few times I talked to him. Sometimes I hear him talking when he passes by, He's really nice then too. He's not a mean guy. he stopped looking and continued to look at me. I can't get him out of my mind but I love it. I love every moment I get to see him and I welcome the thoughts I get about him. I'm too afraid to ask him out, I don't want to end up having taken the signals wrong and embarass him in front of his friends and embarass myself, including the strong thought that I'm not good enough for him and that he deserves better than me. I don't want to screw up his life, I'd like him to be as happy as possible but I really like him. I don't know what to do. Should I ask him out? Wait longer? Or just stick to looking at him? I wish I knew how he felt about me but I don't so I'll ask for your help. Please help me, what should I do guys and girls? {Sorry, I think it got cut off}

Is CHENEY real or just a figment of our imagination ? You never hear anything (much) from this man does he even have a real job? Or is he just given little crap jobs so people don`t catch on that bush just wanted him to run with him as a silent (more or less) partner so he could run this country by his self (the decider remember). I hear about the 1st lady working and the things she does more than Cheney. I never hear CHENEY`S name unless he has a heart attack or has a few drinks and shoots somebody.
As a protest against high gas prices would you stop mowing your lawn? Yes! I realise in some cases it could be dangerous because of fires. But don't you think it would send a silent protest? Lets face it, when we get used to how high they are now, they will do it again, and again. etc. On the positive side fewer heart attacks, fewer repairs, fewer accidents. Do you see my point? Talk with your neighbors about it before doing it. My thoughts on this were more to the objection against high grass. But the fire aspect is just to great. Think about it though, everywhere you go, you can't see because of high grass.
what is silent heart attack? is it fatal? Any way to avoid this.

What do you think of the movie silent hill? 10 points plus 5 STARS for best answer!!!!!? The first time I saw this movie I almost have a heart attack, well I had these terrible night mares after I saw the movie, I hated the darkness, because that's where all you know what came I would cover my eyes, when really scary parts of the movie came, I would sometimes get TOO scared that I would turn off the DVD player that was playing the movie, there would be times when my dad would be at work late at night and my brother would be in his room in the basement, and you know from watching the movie you would be scared to walk down the stairs to the basement because a scene from the movie has someone walking down the stairs..... but I am lucky because I can flip the light switch that turns on the light in the basement!!!! I am not going to watch this movie anytime soon, I have already seen it about 5 times in the past. I had to watch how the movie was made, That really took the fun out of the movie, now I can watch it and it's no fun, cause I know how everything was made!!! THIS LINK IS COOL. http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=SILENT+HILL+2007&search=Search
Weight Watchers HIGH Sodium? Hello all .. 1st question here :-) So I am coupling in some Weight Watchers meals into my diet. and a Co-worker stated that the meals are great to lose weight, but high in sodium which has been coined the "silent killer" and can lead to a heart attack. Any truth or agreement to such statement? I would like to eliminate these meals from my diet if this true. Thanks in advance! Why would a diet like such promote losing weight if the sodium (salt) it contains will help you only gain weight?
Why do Christians attack atheist, why did they step up against the war? Why when they need to step up they either stay silent or support inhumane acts against others. What happen Christians, no where the heart to speak up or ears to listen. Save your scare tactics for politics, if I'm going to hell I know you will be there before me. agnostic + humanitarian + love the philosophy of Jesus, am shocked by the self righteous hypocrites who call themselves christians. I know what the responds are going to be. 1. Judge not least be Judge 2. We are not perfect 3. The devil made me do it 4. We support the war because its the patriotic thing to do 5. we have to defend our self (20 committed those act, many more supported it, but instead of targeting the perpetrators, we attack two nations, and jeopardize the lives of millions, including our own troops). 6. who cares Don't put this on the atheist, agnostics and others. You claim to be the salt of the earth, but your bag is empty. It is true because when they had the opportunity to speak up they were either silent, or supporting it. And only a very small majority were opposed. "small minority" You should be the example. A leader leads his men not only by words, but deeds. Where are the saved once, the once so privilege to be saved, the born again christians. The once with a license to commit sin and hate. I don't expect many christians to answer, they will hide again. let me add to the list. 7. avoid the question all together by placing an irrelevant statement. @peter thank you @ all who did not support the war and spoke on behave of good, thank you. And thanks again peter. "Why didn't they step up against the war."
What do you think about this poem? What do you think it's trying to reflect upon? Hope Redefined Your face: pale and expression wild with concentration The fear is like a plague, threatening your heart A silent twitch, nervously attacking the reflexes—your muscles Spasms they call it, ticks they say Silence is vital, focus is a necessity The will to live is stronger now because of the hope that shines your way Hope defined in a new light—the source of your energy, the tactic of your survival—an advantage perhaps Creak across the floorboards, perspiration developing underneath your brow Breathe short—afraid to speak—to mutter a noise Making it through this moment is your only option For the consequence of failure is unmentioned Swing the door, open your eyes Clarity refracts your retina’s one last time and alas! The blindfold is no longer there—sight has returned, the path to which you must follow is marked All nerves vanish overtaken by anticipation—the curiosity of where you’ll go from here—the unknown And yet there is still so much uncertainty, relief is an undeniable emotion For now there is hope—strong and luminescent, burning in your soul.
Is anyone willing to critique my story so far? First, you're completely lost when it comes to grammer and spelling. -x- I like your answer, and I'll heed it, Melissa, but I spell the British way, so everything might seem topsy-turvy.
how to take care someone who has hypertension? my fiance's mother used to have a weak heart and she does have hypertension (high blood pressure) most of the time. i want to know how to take care of someone who has hypertension. im afraid that hypertension is known to be a silent killer, and anytime it could attack you. what food should she eat to avoid hypertension? what foods not to eat? is there any exercise? she tends to get hypertension when she gets tired and a hot climate becoz right now is summer here in the philippines. the medicine are kinda expensive and so the continuous check ups. we just want to avoid the disease becoz we dont want anything bad to happen to my fiance's mother and we are considering the budget too for our wedding. by the way she is thin. i forgot to tell you. i know that its her life but i need to find ways to avoid that because she suffers a lot and we cant provide enough money for her expenses. we are saving for our wedding and any time it would need for us to spend it when she needed it most. we want her to get well. im not selfish and im just concern about her and our future together. anybody wouldn't want to spend money everyday when you can avoid things to happen. anyways tnx for all.

How worried should I be? I was diagnosed with atrial flutter atrial fibrulation and atrial tachycardia. My heart switches between the 3 continuously. My doc says I'm high risk for a heart attack and she thinks I allready had a silent one. Once my son weans himself I will be going on blood thinners. My doc says she's shocked I've lived this long with it. Should I be very scared? Also are there any natural ways to thin the blood without using drugs? I will use the drugs for the sake of being w/ my family (2 kids and hubby) as long as possible, but I'm scared of the negatives that go with them. I'm kinda a bleeder and bruiser as it is. Let me add that I do get a lot of answers to these questions from my doc, I would more like to know if anyone else has this and if it is truly as scary as the docs make it out to be or if they just try to get you really scared so you'll take their advice. And yes she is a cardiologist.

elvis alive? The only time I feel alive... is when I'm in front of my audience, my people. That's the only time I really feel like I'm human." "Long after I'm gone, what I did today will be heard by someone. I just want them to get the best of what I had." (Elvis Presley) Is Elvis Alive ? There are many reasons to believe that Elvis Presley is dead. When the only arguments to believe otherwise come from crazed fans and supermarket tabloids, it is easy to dismiss the possibility that Elvis is still among us. However, the circumstances surrounding Elvis' alleged death are quite mysterious and beg closer attention. As it turns out, there are many concrete reasons to believe that Elvis is still alive. The Gravesite. Elvis' name is misspelled on his headstone. Elvis' full name is Elvis Aron Presley, but on his grave his middle name is spelled incorrectly with two a's. His father would not have let this happen. When Elvis was born, his name was misspelled on his birth certificate, and his father went to great lengths to get it put right. The unique spelling of Elvis' name was important to his family. Elvis' current "resting place" is in between his father and his grandmother and not next to his mother where he had adamantly requested. It is doubtful that the people close to him would allow these things to happen. Elvis is a superstitious man, enough so that he wouldn't tempt fate by putting his real name on a tombstone, or violate the ground next to his mother until he was ready to be placed there for good. Death Certificate. Elvis was very vain, and he was embarrassed about his recent weight gain, an astonishing 50 pounds in the month before his so-called death. Even though he weighed about 250 pounds at the time of his "death," his death certificate lists him at a spry 170 pounds. The original death certificate disappeared, and the current death certificate is dated two months after his alleged death. The Wax Body Theory. This argument is very convincing when the facts are considered. Elvis' coffin required several pall bearers because it weighed 900 pounds. Attendants of the funeral reported that the air around the coffin was rather cool. It is suspected that the coffin contained an air conditioning unit to keep a wax body cool, a wax body that was a replica of Elvis designed to fool funeral-goers. And how did the Presley family get a 900 pound, custom made coffin ready for a funeral that was held on the day after his death? It takes a lot of time to build such an elaborate coffin. And why was the funeral so quickly? Some say that the immediacy was intended to make it as difficult as possible for the people who were Elvis' biggest fans to attend the proceedings. It could be a concern that they might recognize the flaws in the wax replica. Elvis was an 8th degree black belt whose hands were rough with calluses, yet the body in the coffin had hands that were soft and pudgy. The body in the coffin had a pug nose and arched eyebrows {unlike Elvis} and most importantly, one of the sideburns on the "corpse" was loose and falling off. A hairdresser later reported gluing the sideburn back on the body. Unusual Behavior. Two hours after Elvis' death was announced publicly, a man who reportedly looked remarkably like Elvis purchased a ticket for Buenos Aeries, paid in cash, and used the name John Burrows: the same name Elvis had used as an alias several times before. Elvis had a few books that were considered to be his most prized possessions. He had a bible, several pharmaceutical books, books on death, and most importantly Chiro's Book of Numbers and The Autobiography of Yogi which I will explain more about later. After Elvis's death was announced, these books disappeared and were never recovered. In the weeks preceding his alleged death, Elvis' actions were not those of a man who was about to embark on an extensive US tour. He ordered no new suits despite having gained 50 pounds since his last tour, and he bid "adios" at his last show in Hawaii. He had never done this before. Adios, like the French adieu, has the significance of being a final good-bye as opposed to an "I'll be seeing you on my next tour" kind of good-bye. Others were intrigued by Elvis' decision to sign a lucrative TV deal with NBC that would cover the tour. It was unprecedented for a network to pay such a large amount up front, in cash, for such a deal. Many wonder why Elvis even agreed to the deal since his vanity discouraged him from making public appearances due to his weight gain. RCA showed uncanny and unbelievable foresight by mass producing millions of Elvis' current and previous recordings and merchandise. This is standard practice for an act that is about to go on tour, but the numbers in this case were beyond reasonable expectations. The announcement of Elvis' death caused record sales to skyrocket. Elvis did other unusual things that created suspicion. First, he fired several employees that he had relied upon for a long time. Also, two days before his alleged death, Elvis telephoned a friend of his named Miss Foster. He told her that he wasn't planning on going on the upcoming tour. She asked him if he had canceled it, and he said that he had not. When she asked if he was ill, he said that he was fine, and that she should not ask any more questions or tell anyone anything, and that she should not believe anything she read. He told her that his troubles would all soon be over, and that he would call her in a few weeks. The author of Elvis Where Are You? writes that Miss Foster took a polygraph test regarding this story, and that she was not lying. The day after Elvis' alleged death, a woman named Lucy De Barbon, a former lover of Elvis, received a single rose in the mail. The card indicated that the flower was from "El Lancelot." This had been her pet name for Elvis, and it was a name that no one else knew. Flowers can't be sent from beyond the grave. This was Elvis' way of letting her know that he was not dead, even though he didn't want to be found. Chiro's Book of Numbers. Elvis had a fascination with numerology, an interest he fed by reading Chiro's Book of Numbers. The theory that Elvis orchestrated his death is further supported when considering the significance of the date of his alleged death. The date in question is August 16, 1977. By adding the numbers in the date, 8, 16, and 1977, you get 2001. This is the title of Elvis' favorite movie in which the hero plans his immortality in the bathroom. Elvis spent a considerable amount of time doing the same: planning his afterlife on the toilet.. Elvis spent so much time in the bathroom that he had his toilet converted into a reclining comfy chair. Coincidentally, the bathroom is also where Elvis' body was reportedly found. Given Elvis' religious beliefs, he had a fascination with things that come in threes, for example, father, son, and holy ghost. The sum of the digits from his favorite film (2+0+0+1) is three. Let's consider the triad of the repetition of the number 24. 2001 (favorite film) less 1977 (year of death) is 24. The two numbers from the day of death (8/16) when added up equal 24. The sum of the digits in the year of death (1+9+7+7) also equals 24. That is 3 occurrences of the number 24 which is divisible by 3, and when divided by three the result, 8 has a perfect cubed root (2x2x2=8). Elvis loved numerology, and when you consider the numeric significance of the date of his alleged death, it is clear that if indeed he did plan to fake his death, he could not have chosen a better date. Reason Elvis had many reasons to fake his death. It has been said that Elvis' life was in danger. He had recently lost $10,000,000 in an airplane/real estate deal with a California based organization called the "Fraternity" that had links to the Mafia. It is speculated that he corroborated with the government to expose the organized crime ring in exchange for protection, perhaps in the form of a new life and identity compliments of the Witness Protection Program. Elvis was a prisoner of his own fame. He had many other reasons to leave his life behind. Because of his incredible popularity he recieved several death threats, and he was concerned about the safety of his ex-wife and daughter. Sometimes when he wanted to leave Graceland he would send look-alikes out to distract would be followers. Elvis was also known to ride in the trunk of someone else's car to avoid being seen. Once, when he fell ill in Las Vegas, he couldn't get proper medical attention because the hospital was overwhelmed by fans. At the time of his alleged death, Elvis thought he was nearing the end of his career. He saw his self as 42 with greying hair, overweight, and he thought his voice was starting to weaken,. He was going down hill, and he was too proud to go out with a whimper. He would never want his fans to see him in such an unhealthy condition. Elvis had shown a fascination with death on several occasions. In the days leading up to his alleged death he was reported to have visited funeral homes at odd hours of the night with close friends. Was he doing research? Elvis once faked his death by setting up an elaborate shooting in which a would be killer fired blanks at Elvis who had a blood pack which he discharged. It was Elvis' intention to see how the people closest to him would react to his death. Perhaps what he learned convinced him to do it for real. Finally, one of Elvis' favorite books is the spiritual Autobiography of Yogi. One of the central themes of this book is the relinquishing of one's wealth and earthly possessions to achieve spiritual oneness. Elvis could do this, as well as address his other concerns of sanity and safety by faking his death and living in exile. Means. Elvis had the means to fake his own death. He is accused of destroying himself with drugs. In reality, Elvis was a pharmaceutical expert. He took a lot of drugs, but he knew what he was doing and was extremely careful. He knew what drugs he could self-administer to create a deathlike state. Also Elvis' experience with the martial arts was such that he could slow his heart rate and breathing in order to feign death. Elvis' manager, Colonel Tom Parker, had once created a new identity for himself. He came to America as an illegal immigrant from Holland, but through various connections managed to create a new identity complete with a passport, birth certificate, drivers license, and social security number. He would have known how to give Elvis a second life. Aswell as Elvis' ties to the government through his testimony against the "Fraternity", Elvis was known to interact with the President of the United States. He was reported in government documents to use the name John Burrows as an alias when he wanted to travel. Some people believe that Elvis worked for the government as a drug agent. He did, after all have extensive contact with many people in the music business who, as we know, tend to dabble in illegal substances. And, of course, we must allow that Elvis' connections to the government gave him access to the Witness Protection Program. If they can turn the Simpsons into the Thompsons, they can relocate anybody. Orion? Many believe that Elvis couldn't have given up performing completely. Just imagine, after a while the desire to perform would grow once he started his life in exile. The story of Orion supports the theory that Elvis attempted a secret comeback. Shortly after Elvis' alleged death, a masked singer by the name of Orion emerged on the scene. He was big like Elvis, and he sang just like Elvis. Because of the mask no one could tell his true identity. One fan described seeing Orion from near the stage. She claims that Orion left the stage between songs, and when he appeared moments later the sweat was gone from his armpits and back and she thought that his costume looked slightly different. After the song he left the stage, and the original Orion returned. Another fan described how she rushed into a tour bus at an Orion show only to see two Orions in the back of the bus. She claimed that one ducked into the bathroom before she could get a good look at him, but he appeared to look like Elvis Presley. What's even more remarkable is the fictional story called Orion that was written by Gail Brewer-Georgio about a legendary performer who had several identities and wanted to fake his death. The story was written and submitted to the William Morris Agency for publication consideration after Elvis' alleged death and before the real Orion ever performed. As it turns out, there are many ways in which the real Orion mimicked the events as described in the book. For example, the performers' managers had the same name. Also, without knowing it, Brewer-Georgio wrote of events in Orion that had actually taken place in Elvis' life. It was a case of life imitating art. Picking up the Pieces. In 1981, 20/20 did an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the alleged death of Elvis Presley. The investigative report was very convincing. Oddly enough, within two weeks of the report, the singer, Orion, disappeared and was never heard from again. The book, Orion disappeared from shelves across the country. It had been recalled by the publisher which was associated with the William Morris Agency. Incidentally, the William Morris Agency is the same agency that represented Elvis. It seems that Elvis Presley is worth more dead than alive. By faking his death and relocating with a new identity he is safe from his fans and the "Fraternity", the government can make a solid case against the organized crime ring, and RCA, Elvis' family, and Elvis' management can all reap immense financial benefits from the attention. That is... except for one benefit....after nearly 25 years no one has collected on his life insurance policy. Why ????? During his last concert tour in 1977, Elvis spoke of "not looking good tonight", but, he would look good in his coffin. He made comments of being tired of living as he was and how it was going to change. He told of how he would like to be just himself instead of an "image". On August 16th 1977, at 8:00 A.M., Elvis told Ginger Alden that he was going into the bathroom to read. (This bathroom/lounge had it's own back entrance.) For the next six hours no one saw him. Elvis signed for a special delivery letter at 9:30 A.M. At 2:00 P.M. Ginger Alden found the apparent body of Elvis lying on the floor in front of his chair, where he had been reading. She called Al Strada who in turn called Joe Esposito. George Nichopoulous (aka Dr. Nick) was then telephoned. Joe called the fire department, unit 6. The ambulance arrived at Graceland at 2:33 P.M. Paramedics administered CPR, despite rigor mortis. The body was taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital at 2:48 P.M. By 3:00 P.M. Elvis' family members and friends were informed of his "death". Public announcement was given at 3:30 P.M. August 17th, the body was brought back to Graceland for family viewing. The public viewing was from 3:00 P.M. to 6:30 P.M. On August 18th,1977. Tennesse Governor Ray Blanton ordered flags to be flown at half-mast for the duration of the funeral procession. At midday the Graceland gates swung open, a white Cadillac hurse rolled through them, followed by sixteen white Cadillac limousines. QUESTIONS BEGIN How could it take twenty minutes for paramedics to drive sixteen blocks to Graceland if the call came in at 2:33 P.M.? The Medical Examiner's Report states that the body was found with rigor mortis, while the police report states "unconcious". Why would anyone try to give CPR to a rigor mortised body ? The ME report listed the body as weighing 80 pounds lighter then Elvis' actual weight. How could Elvis have passed a physical exam just prior to August 16th if his heart was so enlarged ? How could he have played raquetball for several hours on August 16th, just before his "death" ? ABC's 1979 program on the cover up of Elvis' death stated that all the stomach contents were destroyed. Bill Burkin in his book Elvis World states that officials at Babtist Memorial Hospital had assured him that the stomach contents had been shipped to a California lab to be examined and then on to a lab in Utah, and then ? There are rumors of Elvis' "death" being caused by a heart attack, drug overdose, suffocation in carpeting, suicide and even cancer ! Persons in attendance at Graceland at the time of "death" don't agree on the color of pajamas Elvis was wearing or the posistion of the body. Why did Vernon ask many people NOT to attend the funeral but to come a week later ? Why did Vernon refuse to accept the flag which is usually given to dead war veterans ? Why didn't Elvis have any new jumpsuits made during 1977 ? The handwriting on the death certificate matched Elvis' own writing ! Elvis was very aware of which presribed drugs did not mix well with others. Elvis had glaucoma, and Dexedrine, a drug not to be taken with that condition, was listed as being in his system. Who would prescribe it and why would he take it ? Whose body was autopsied ? Funeral homes don't usually keep solid copper coffins in stock. These coffins weigh in the area of 300 pounds and usually take two months to receive once ordered. This coffin seemed to have been ready. Monte Nicholson, a nineteen year veteran of the Los Angeles Sheriffs Department, wrote a novel called The Presley Arrangement. This novel tells the story of a body that is autopsied, a man resembling Elvis. The man had died of cancer. The body is later returned for private burial, to the man's own family. The man's family are paid to remain silent about the incident. Nicholson explains a government connection. In a 1989 radio interview Nicholson said that even if he knew there was an FBI connection and was told not to say anything, he COULD NOT say. Nicholson also claimed that if he knew the answer to the question, and says he does, he will not disclose his knowledge. He said that if Elvis is alive that his book is pretty close to the truth of what REALLY happened. Was Elvis a DEA (Drug Enforcement Agency) agent ? Elvis can be seen wearing a DEA Staff jacket in several photographs, including one taken in June of 1977, approximately six weeks before his "death". Also Elvis was wearing a jogging suit with the DEA logo on it during the early morning hours of August 16th 1977. When Elvis met with President Richard Nixon he said he had been "studying" the drug culture for over 10 years, he could get into any culture group and be accepted. Elvis said he had gotten alot from the country and he wanted to repay in some way. It would have been a dangerous job and one that an entertainer such as Elvis would not have HAD to do unless he chose to. Many DEA agents pose as "drug users" and "pushers" in their undercover work. Elvis could get to anyone if he appeared to be a "user". In the book Elvis: What Happened? one of the guys wondered if Elvis was ever as whacked out as he seemed to be. Maybe he is a "great" actor after all. Perhaps he deserves an "Oscar". Death threats were issued against Elvis and his family. Those who had leveled those threats had actually broken into Graceland. At times, the FBI were called. Deputy Narcotics Director John Finlator arranged for Elvis to come to his office under the name of John Burrows. Finlator didn't want to give Elvis a badge but the President reversed the decision. On December 21st of 1970, Elvis met with President Richard Nixon in the oval office, Washington, D.C. Elvis had written a letter requesting a meeting and expressed his concerns about the drug culture, hippie elements, the SDS and other groups who were against the establishment. When Finlator finally gave Elvis the badge and promised to issue him consultant credentials, Elvis was overcome with emotion and his eyes became misty. Ten days later he met with the FBI. On the same day, President Nixon wrote Elvis a thank you. Elvis wrote to the President and said, "I can and will do more good, if I were made a Federal Agent at large, and I will help out by doing it my way." Elvis was known to be in his bedroom for weeks, seeing no one. (There was a back staircase at Graceland.) Elvis could sneak out whenever he needed to. Department of the Treasury-Bob Pritchett says that during the years of '74, '75, and '76 "Mr. Presley provided one of our undercover agents, who was a musician, a job cover. Undercover agents appear to have other occupations. None of Elvis' group of friends knew of this agent and the role he played in setting up his cover. Since he had an undercover agent in his group from '74-'76, when did he find time to use drugs himself? Elvis was very good at keeping secrets and living a "double life". Elvis spoke with President Carter two weeks before his death. It involved aid to a friend. On August 16, 1977, President Carter issued this tribute: "Elvis Presley's death deprives our country of a part of itself. He was unique and irreplaceable. More than twenty years ago he burst upon the scene with an impact that was unprecedented and will probably never be equaled. His music and his personality, fusing the styles of white country and black rhythm and blues, permanently changed the face of American popular culture. His following was immense and he was a symbol of good humor of his country." This was a formal statement, when a celebrity's death is usually only commented on. He had spoken to Nixon and Carter both shortly before the day he died. In the September 1988 issue of American Karate magazine, Ed Parker tells of a time when a terrorist group threatened Elvis' life to make him an example of how they could get to famous people. They threatened to plant a bomb in one of the gifts offered to Elvis at a concert. This was a threat as long as he was "alive", and his family were targets also. Elvis always had law enforcement officials around him. John O'Grady, who was earlier in charge of NARC Divisions of the LAPD, was one of them. He also hired Dick Grob, a former sargeant with the Palm Springs Police. He was surrounded by at least two lawmen in top security positions. Elvis was in danger. The "hoax" may have been the only way out! History will prove Elvis to be an American hero beyond being an American entertainer. SIGHTINGS With all the Elvis lookalikes, he could actually walk around using disguises and get away with it. Who would be looking for him anyway, when he is supposedly dead? Before 1977, there was an "Elvis lookalike, sound alike" at a Memphis theatre. Elvis put on his best "Elvis outfit", strolled in and mingled with the clones, doing his best "Hey, baby". Afterwards, he came back to Graceland laughing. He tried out and lost! Elvis and his mother's bodies were moved to the Meditation Gardens for burial, after three men tried to break into the crypt. Graceland was rezoned to permit burials at the estate. In the 1989 Orion's "Farewell to the King", the King says "I died once. I had to be willing to give up everything, even the will to live." The last recording session at Graceland was The Last Farewell. There have been many sightings at various places including Graceland. There are some escape routes at Graceland that people don't know about. In a syndicated newspaper across the nation on June 5, 1990, an article headlined "Elvis Lives, At Least On Census Form." The Census Bureau reported in 1990 that Elvis returned a questionaire to the bureau office in Huntsville, Alabama. It was noticed by census workers who were screening forms for completednesss. Late Night with Ross Shafer (August 1988) had a survey that showed that out of 30,000 people polled, approximately 84% believe Elvis is alive. On Monday, August 22, 1988, Harold Schuitmaker, in an item of the Detroit News, said "Elvis is Alive and Living in Kalamazoo." Schuitmaker was a well known Michigan politician and resident of Paw Paw (15 miles from Kalamazoo). The masked singer Orion was at the McMinnville Civic Center and a fan said that she felt that the man onstage and the one who signed autographs were different people. People have reported that someone sounding like Elvis called them on the phone and some hung up because they couldn't believe it. A book titled Elvis: Where Are You? came out of Wilton Manors, Florida around August, 1982 under the name of Al Jefferies. The premise of the book was that Elvis hoaxed his death. Kelly Burgess, a former assistant editor and feature writer with the Detroit News, claimed to have seen Elvis in Kalamazoo, Michigan. She is not living now. In 1988, Heartbreak Hotel starred David Keith as Elvis. (The film had the support of EP Enterprises.) A soundtrack album thanked Jerry Schilling and a special thanks to J.B. In 1987's Robo Cop, a cop is killed, but didn't die. He returns as Robo Cop-a superman hero. It was filmed in Michigan. During that time radio stations got calls from a man sounding like Elvis Presley. There have been lots of sightings there and it was also on his final concert tour. Is this possibly a "message" film? March 18, 1990, an article on Robo Cop, in the Detroit News told of Robo Cop speaking to a Boys and Girls club against drugs. It was a three month long anti-drug campaign organized by the FBI, Orion Home Video of New York, and the Boys Club of America. This Robo Cop was not the same actor as in the movie-his true identity was not revealed. he was a special agent helping the FBI fight the war on drugs. His suit was bullet-proof. During filming, some people saw a man looking like an older Elvis. In Mac and Me, a film from 1988, a young alien is lost and at the end the family drives away in an old pink Cadillac convertible. A balloon caption says "We'll be back". The sound track is on Curb Records, which is the same label as "Spelling on the Stone". There were some song lyrics which were: "Tired of being myself, being different from everyone else, somehow you knew I needed your help, be my friend forever. I never found my star in the night; living my dream was far from sight." There was a scene in the movie where Eric asks Debbie "Why didn't you tell him that you saw him (the alien)?" She says, "Because no one would believe me." Elvis has become a mythic figure, and there have been frequent rumors that he is still alive. Elvis remains the single most influential and respected figure in the history of Rock music. Elvis was the first Rock/Pop singer to have a single record sell a million copies, the first to go platinum with an album in less than two weeks, the first singer to pre-sell a million records before it's release, the first entertainer to earn a million dollars for one concert performance, and the first young, white, southern male to bring international attention to the importance of black rhythm and blues. He was the first singer to get a million dollar screen contract. He was the first music personality to have a TV performance broadcast worldwide via satellite. In 1993, he became the first rock'n'roll star whose picture appeared on a commemorative U.S. Postal stamp (the largest stamp printing in history). Elvis is a landmark in almost everyone's life, going back to distant memories of watching him above the waist on Ed Sullivan or hearing "Hound Dog" for the first time. His image continues to mesmerize: witness the appearance of 200 Elvis impersonators at Liberty Weekend in 1986. There was a time when he was merely the most popular entertainer in history. He is more than that now. He is a symbol of America as recognizable as the flag. Elvis opened the 'window of his soul' to his fans all over the world. Thank you, Elvis! Remember you are always on our minds. "TCB FOREVER! Any Comments on this ? E-mail Me i found this on the internet weird
Which of the following describes the shoulder joint ? In 1949, a study of heart disease included 5,137 adults: 2,292 men and 2,845 women. All the individuals were 49 to 70 years of age, and none showed any signs of coronary artery disease. After 14-16 years of careful follow-up, it was found that: I. 151 men and 37 women showed evidence of coronary artery disease that would account for a heart attack. II. 102 men and 18 women died of coronary artery disease before they reached the age of 65. III. 58 percent of the men and 39 percent of the women died within one hour of having a heart attack. IV. For both men and women, sudden death was more likely if they were under age 55 at the time of the attack. V. Not all heart attacks produce symptoms. A considerable number of men and women had a myocardial infarction (heart muscle damage) without knowing it. Of those who suffered such "silent coronaries," 22 percent of the men and 35 percent of the women did not know muscle damage had occurred. A group of 1000 men and 1200 women between the ages of 50 and 65 are to be studied for coronary artery disease. I need a fair answer to this question above to be submitted to the teachers

If I Give You Some Jokes Will You Give Me Some Jokes? Screwed An explorer in the deepest Amazon suddenly found himself surrounded by a bloodthirsty group of natives. Upon surveying the situation, he said quietly to himself, "Oh God, I'm screwed." A ray of light fell from the sky and a voice boomed out, "No, you are not screwed. Pick up that stone at your feet and bash in the head of the chief standing in front of you." So the explorer picked up the stone and proceeded to bash the life out of the chief. He stood above the lifeless body, breathing heavily, surrounded by 100 natives with looks of shock on their faces. The voice boomed out again, "Okay, NOW you're screwed." Death Becky was on her deathbed. Her husband, Jake, was maintaining a vigil by her side. He held her fragile hand, tears ran down his face. His praying roused her from her slumber. She looked up and her pale lips began to move slightly. "My darling Jake," she whispered. "Hush, my love," he said. "Rest. Shhh. Don't talk." She was insistent. "Jake," she said in her tired voice. "I have something I must confess to you." "There's nothing to confess," replied the weeping Jake. "Everything's all right, go to sleep." "No, no. I must die in peace, Jake. I slept with your brother, your best friend and your father." "I know darling," he replied. "That's why I poisoned you." Ahead A man is waiting for his wife to give birth. The doctor comes in and informs the dad that his son was born without a torso, arms or legs. The son is just a head! But the dad loves his son anyway and raises him as well as he can, with love and compassion. After 21 years, the son is old enough for his first drink. Dad takes him to the bar and tearfully tells his son he is proud of him. Dad orders up the biggest, strongest drink for his boy. With all the bar patrons looking on curiously and the bartender shaking his head in disbelief, the boy takes his first sip of alcohol. Swoooop! A torso pops out! The bar is dead silent; then bursts into a whoop of joy. The father, shocked, begs his son to drink again. The patrons chant "Take another drink"! The bartender still shakes his head in dismay. Swoooop! Swoooop! Two arms pops out. The bar goes wild. The father, crying and wailing, begs his son to drink again. The patrons chant "Take another drink"! The bartender ignores the whole affair. By now the boy is getting tipsy, and with his new hands he reaches down, grabs his drink and guzzles the last of it. Swoooop! Swoooop! Two legs pop out. The bar is in chaos. The father falls to his knees and tearfully thanks God. The boy stands up on his new legs and stumbles to the left.... then to the right.... right through the front door, into the street, where a truck runs over him and kills him instantly. The bar falls silent. The father moans in grief. The bartender sighs and says, "That boy should have quit while he was a head." English Royalty The Pope and Queen Elizabeth were standing on a balcony beaming at the thousands of people in the forecourt below. The Queen says to the Pope out of the corner of her mouth, "I bet you a tenner that I can make every English person in the crowd go wild with just a wave of my hand." The Pope says, "No way. You can't do that." The Queen says, "Watch this." So the Queen waves her hand and every English person in the crowd goes crazy, waving their little plastic Union Jacks on sticks and cheering, basically going ballistic. The Pope thinks to himself for a minute and then he turns to her and says, "That's pretty impressive, but I bet you I can make every Irish person in the crowd go wild, not just now, but for the rest of the week, with just one nod of my head." The Queen goes, "No way, you can't do that." So the Pope headbutts her. Why The English Language Is Hard To Learn 1. The bandage was wound around the wound. 2. How about you, how did you die?" "I had a heart attack," says the first man. "You see, I knew my wife was cheating on me, so one day I showed up at home unexpectedly. What do you think of this story? Tragic and sad.? Horror Her heart pounded as she awaited the arrival of the doctor. Her face buried in her hands, her palms frigid and wet from the tears that stained her face. The waiting room was empty, most people having left and gone to get a late night dinner. The mute grey walls lined with uncomfortable generic chairs. Year old magazines were strewn across the table; titles such as Chatelaine and Us Weekly gracing the covers of the torn and tattered books. She couldn’t handle the wait. A single hour was becoming a heart wrenching century. She listened to the metallic clink of the clock on the far wall to her left. Tick-tick-tick… each second seemed like an hour, each minute seemed to be a day. Finally, she heard the now-familiar chime signalling the end of the awful hour. She picked herself up off the hospital seat and rearranged her clothing to make herself seem presentable, although she had been sitting in that small stuffy room for over eight hours. Shaking, she walked to the telephone and dialled. Ring-ring-ring. A woman answered saying that she could finally enter. Still trembling, she walked out of the small waiting room to the large set of double doors just around the corner. She pushed through the first set of door with ease. She disinfected her hands using the small Purel dispenser in the entrance to the Intensive Care Unit. Trying to calm herself, she turned the knob to the room that she would finally see what she had been waiting for. Gliding through the room as fast as she could, nearly spilling a full bed pan, she saw him. A lump lodged itself in her throat and she froze. Her body became jelly and she just stared at him. Silent tears began to stream down her face. She could no longer hear the hustle and bustle coming from a mere two feet away, she could no longer hear the drone of the various machines in the room, she could no longer hear the nurses asking her to move. All she heard was the faint beep that represented his heart beat, the struggling breaths escaping his lips. Her eyes filled with a new flood of heart broken tears as she saw him. As quickly as she could, she tried to banish the incriminating cries. To see him crumpled and broken was pure torture. To see the dozens of tubes entering and exiting his body, to see the various needles piercing his skin. To see his bruised skin and swollen limbs. To see his body twitch uncontrollable. To see his red blood pump through the many tubes. To know that he may not survive. To know that this could be the last time you see him before his fateful hour. To know that he was experiencing failure of every kind in his weak and sick body. To know that everything that he was going through, might not be enough. To know that perhaps his body could no longer take the stress and may just shut down. To know that your last memory with him would be seeing him lay there, helpless and in unbearable pain. To see him in such horrid pain, to know that he does not see you nor recognize your face was pure torture. Compared to the torture of waiting, seeing him broken was a million times worse. Silent tears escaped from her body. Finally, she awoke from her depressed and helpless state to consult with the nurse. The nurse’s cold reedy voice echoed in her head. All her statements were a blur and only helped to worsen her already morbid thoughts. To hear that not only were the doctors attempting their best, but that their best may not be good enough. The nurse stated and stated again how his body may not be able to handle it. The doctor arrived halfway through the nurse’s long droning speech. He simply stated, “He isn’t doing too well. I think you will need to fill out this form.” More silent tears rolled down her face. The doctor handed her a complicated and official looking form. The doctor explained that she would need to discuss this with the rest of HIS family. It was a form that would declare his future in the event that he had a heart attack. She had never been left with such a decision. Automatically her conscience told her to work to keep him alive, to do anything within her power to help him, to resuscitate him if he did have a heart attack. Then, she looked to the bed that he lay in. He twitched uncontrollably. His face was distorted with pain and torture. He looked helpless and weak. She pondered her decision. She didn’t want to resuscitate him only to have him suffer for a longer period of time. She didn’t want him to hate her for keeping him alive. She knew his decision. He didn’t want to interfere with what God had planned for him. He knew that if he died, he wanted to be left dead. He wanted to be cremated. He wanted to be remembered at his strong points and not for the short fraction of his life that he had spent in the hospital. She knew his decision and she planned to respect it. She discussed his condition with the nurse and doctor for a while longer. Then, she stood at his side. She stroked his hair, held his hand, whispered her prayers and kissed him good
How do I get over anger at myself for staying in an abusive relationship? I was with a man for 2 years. I met him from an online dating site. We moved in together when we were relatively happy, even though after 2 months, he suddenly stopped wanting sex. He kept saying it was 'stress', so I hoped it would get better. He was always 'too tired' and always made it seem like it was my own problem, never his. I loved intimacy and was a skilled and willing lover, but he took all that confidence away by rejecting me. He even stopped kissing me. We started living like roommates, when I wanted so much more. He had a heart attack after a year together, and was off work for a year. He withdrew all affection, was silent and refused to acknowledge me or how sad I was, because I did love him. I kept staying even though I was desperately unhappy. I even wanted to end my own life at times because I was so miserable. I stayed and was exhausted from work and felt like I was looking after a baby at home too. I have a chronic illness, but I did everything for him. Every day was stressful. He had no concern for my welfare at all. Never wanted to know anything about me. Only what I could do for him and that he wasn't alone. He said he loved me, so I stayed. I finally left when I thought he was going to kill me after he went back to work. He became crazy and went 'postal' at work. He kept calling me every day, and I kept listening and trying to support him, even though he had insane rambling toxic crap he dumped on me about work (out of compassion). I was so afraid he would die alone of another heart attack and his family was calling me, everyone was concerned about his mental health too, but he didn't seem to care. He then wrote and told me 'he didn't need me anymore' because he had another heart attack at work and he was on paid leave. I then found him on a dating site (a friend tipped me) looking for his 'soul mate' which completely infuriated me. I was only gone 2 months! I have no idea how long he was on there. He talked about going to parties when he didn't want to do anything with me. All this after a 2nd heart attack! He had no sex drive at all. We even went to the Doctor about it. After I left, he confessed he lost his libido years ago, before I came along. All that time, I blamed myself and lost a lot of confidence as a woman. I was very good to him. We rarely fought, but he was abusive by rejecting me all the time, shutting me out and making everything my fault. If we did start to fight, he was so cruel, I became afraid, so I shut up. Now, I am left with so much anger at myself that I stayed with a man who didn't care about me in any way. I stayed out of compassion even though I was so sad and lonely inside and he refused to deal with it. He was negative and selfish, and I can't believe how much I put up with. I isolated myself from my family and friends too, which is never a good sign. I wanted to stay 'friends' but can't now. I wrote him and told him off big time! I lost my fear, and am only angry now, which I don't want to be. It's not in my nature. I shake inside with rage if I think about it. I don't want to be bitter about men, but I feel that way now. I'm afraid to date again, I blame myself for staying. I felt I couldn't leave a man who was so ill with a heart attack and depression. But now, see how stupid that was when he cared only about himself. He said he was relieved when I left because at least he didn't have to feel bad about himself, knowing how unhappy I was. Gee, thanks! How did you get over this? I have a pattern of getting in bad relationships. I'm too nice! This is why I am on here. I appreciate any advise about how you got over it, and is it a good idea to start dating again when I feel so angry? I have a tendency to stay away from men for years when this type of thing happens and I am a good woman and love men and want to find true love, except now I just feel used and untrusting. Sorry this is so long! Thank you for any help you can offer.

Verbal abuse? My dad has this girlfriend of 14 years who is not a very nice person, but who I put up with for the sake of my father. She's always been good as gold with my brother, but pretty nasty toward me. She'll play silent treatment, spout crap, but when I talk to my dad about it, he doesn't believe me. She's always said stuff like I'll never make it in life, blah blah blah, no man will ever love me, blah blah, but I've tried to blow it off, even if it hurts. I got into a tiff with her last November. Apparently I hurt her feelings, so today, I tried to bury the hatchet, for my father's sake, but she refused to accept my apology. She treated me like I had the plague. Of course I talked to my dad, as he'd wanted me to try to make amends, but she got really ugly when he confronted her about it. She started screaming, saying she blamed me for my dad's drinking problem, his heart attack, that I'm selfish and didn't care about him. It was just pure poison. Nobody wants to talk about it. What do I do?

Hi.I'm Iranian and I live in Iran. When I chat with people from other countries, I understand that they have totally wrong ideas about Iran.I just wrote this article to correct you. The first thing they accuse our government of, is that they don't let you be free.Actually, Iranians would be some of the most liberal people in the world (liberal meaning not obeying laws that they don't like).Thousands of millions of strict rules in other countries, don't even exist in Iran. Also, you should understand that what may seem so normal to you, may be a nightmare for us and vise versa. That's why you don't understand a few of Iran's laws.In Iran every single house has a sattelite. Sattelite channels had a serious influence on people, they wear very fashionable clothes.Maybe it's a kind of immitation, but still it's got an unique Iranian style. You'll see lots of beauty qeens on the streets that are just like models advertising fashionable clothes! Most part of their hair is out and they wear a lot of make up, also wearing scarves is a part of our culture.Iran is one of the super-consumers of cosmics (which is bad for our economy)! People do whatever they wish to and some of the things they do, don't fit our culture at all, however it's normal in Iran. You'll be surprised seeing the difference between what you imagined before and how the real Iran is! It's wonderful.Everything's so great if you don't take unemployment, inflation and air pollution into account which I guess are common problems in many other countries. Many things have changed so far.I can't even compare Iran with 5 years ago, let alone comparing it with 30 years ago!!!! After all, nearly 65-70% of Iran's population is considered the new generation (The youth) and they've transformed everything. Some people think women don't have any rights in Iran! Women are overtaking Iran. They're treated very well. They're the winners in most cases: They get into the best universities cos they're so clever. They get the best jobs cos they can do jobs much better than men. They've got rights that have made it difficult for men to marry them, because husbands buy them expensive things and treat them very well, otherwise women will have the right to ask them a great amount of money according to the law which most husbands cannot afford, so they'll be imprisoned. The only thing that women are not allowed to do in Iran is getting into public football stadiums and that's just because in Iran such places are usually full of cheeky guys who would cheek girls. They do anything from taking part in rallies to singing DJ / pop songs.Anything! I've put a sample here.I feel foolish for sitting here explaining ordinary things to you. Another funny thing: Your footage about stoning the women who have committed adultery.Have you ever asked yourselves they relate to how many years ago?Just for your information, those are from Afghanistan which was ruled by those freaks (Taliban). When you think of such things, try to think of the racism in your country too.I find it difficult to make you understand that Iran, Iraq and Afghanistan are SEPERATE COUNTRIES! and that 60% of Iranians are Persian and 30% are Turkish! I find it even more difficult to make you understand that Iran is a normal country like any other countries in the world. There's nothing mysterious about it!(The media are very good at making scary titles: BEHIND THE CLOSED DOORS!!! IRAN UNDERCOVER!!! This would be enough to scare people away! Iranians are much more educated, intelligent and open-minded than what you think!!! I'm sure you don't know that there are lots and lots of Iranian geniouses and scientists that are all under 25.You don't hear about their discoveries and inventions on TV. For instance this 17 year old boy has invented 72 amazing inventions and there are many many KIDS like that. You don't know that Iranian students and sportsmen win gold and silver medals in different compotitions in the world all the time such as robotics, biology, maths, physics, sports, anything! Why don't the media talk about them? They just can't summerise everything in one word "nuclear", although we're proud of it cos having nuclear energy means a country is developed.Did you know that the countries having the highest number of scientists in the world are in this order? 1-India 2-Korea 3-Iran A few months ago Iran uncovered the most effective anti-H.I.V medicine and it was signing treaties with other countries to export it.I digged the news on the internet, but there was no single sign of that. What did I find instead? "President Bush CLAIMS that bomb parts are imported from Iran into Iraq!"(The same old story!) The media are injustice. They put CLAIMS on the headlines, but they never talk about facts! Some interesting facts: Iran is the pionier in medicine and genetics and Iranian surgens have found lots of new methods for treating spinal defects and many other diseases (mainly the treatment for different types of cancer) and the best brain and heart surgens are Iranian surgens. The head of Mars Mission in NASA is Iranian. One of the best designers of sports cars working in Germany is Iranian. Some of the best 3D animators are Iranian.Iran is one of the best countries in counter-engineering.Holds the second place in building dams and holds records in loads of other things! It's one of the top countries in these fields: bio-technology and nono-technology.The 4th highest tower in the world (Milad tower) is in Tehran (which you can visit in the second link).51 top universities out of the 100 top universities in the Mid-East are in Iran and they're among some of the top universities of the world as well. The champion weight-lifter is Iranian. The woman, and a song by one of the pop singers who/which won the nobel peace prize are Iranians and lots of Iranians win nobel prizes specially in medicine field. And as you all know, Iranian girls are famous for being terrific.Persian rug and Persian literature, many Persian poets and scientists that are so famous.Persian culture is now westernised and only a little has survived! According to statistics Tehran is the cheapest capital city in the world for foriegners of course not for us! (Cos our rate is different: one Dollar =about 950 Tomans!) There are many other things. How many pages would you need to describe a country? And also, Iran is an independant country unlike its neighbouring countries. It has nearly all the developed industries and technologies and doesn't need other countries to survive! The list is endless. The news this morning: "Iranian scintists managed to make human teeth to grow again after losing you've lost them using basic cells" I'm gonna intoduce you the international news website of Iran (called press TV) which is establlished recently. It's much better than BBC news and is fully in English, Plz vist it and you'll find out what they're hiding from you! and in the section of "Sic / Tech" you'll always see that Iran discovers news things nearly everyday. The address is: http://www.presstv.ir/news.aspx From now on, the truth will right by your side! Just a link from that website which reads: Iranian scientists have registered more than 4800 inventions during the last Iranian calendar year of 1385 just in one year 4800 inventions! (April 21 2006-April 20, 2007). Read more in: http://www.presstv.ir/sections.aspx?sectionid=3510208 Some charactristics of Iranians would be: Proud, greedy, hard-working for themselve, lazy in doing their duty well!, intelligent, ambitious, not realistic, not so religious (sadly majority of the young generation is not), not punctual, impatient, well-dressed, formal, well-educated, warm and friendly and hospitable. Some people think, Iran's a desert! lol Iran is a modern country with breathtakingly beautiful nature and lots of historic places to visit. Please take a look at the following links to see if Iran looks like what you think or not! I guess not.All Iranian songs are current pop /Club-Dance/Trance/ DJ music.I send them to my American and Canadian chat friends and they all say they're some of the best songs they've ever heard. Here's a sample of the latest hits.(You didn't expect them to be so catchy.Right?) I believe in "Express yourself through music and that music is a universal language". You can just right click on the links below and choose "Save Target As" to download them. They're some of the best songs you've ever heard. It's nothing like what you expect! It's now 2007 and people still think we are uneducated people living in deserts, riding camels and carrying around guns!!!! See how the media are fooling people? None of the things you hear on the media about Iran are true. Let's clarify some political issues as well: Some of the Americans I chatted with, said in the U.S it's said that president Ahmadinejad hates the U.S and Israel and wants to nuke them!! The media are good at putting comments. It's easy to show a video or an image of our president or leader on the T.V screen or on the internet and say he says this, he says that.....I really don't get the point why our politicians defame themselves by talking about things that have got nothing to do with us.For example does verbal defence of Palestinians cause them to have a better life? The thing is that they occasionally make some statements that the media would misuse it agaisnt Iran. For example they pick up some specific phrases of a long speech (without reffering to the main points and reasons for that speech) and put so many bad comments on that.No sane person would take it for granted. First of all, Iranians don't hate anyone. If our government complains about some injustice going on in the world, it's not bad.Is it? (Although what we want them is to not to get us into trouble by talking about things that are none of our concern.) We hate neither Jews nor Americans.I love Americans otherwise why would I talk to them?! How would our guys dream of America, be like them as much as possible and hate it at the same time?! Although ordinary Iranians don't care much about world affairs, I've got to say that for us Israel is not equal with Jews! Israel is a govt.Jews are faithful people! A few of them live here in our neighbourhood and they live just like the rest of Iranians. No difference. And two of Iran's parliment members are Jews. Who says we want to force others to convert to Islam?Have you ever found a Muslem knocking at your door asking you to do so?It's so funny the way you imagine things and make yourselves believe in your own immaginations! Christians and Jews are both God believers and respectful to us.I wonder why the media like putting words in our mouth and raising hatred. In Iran, religion would be the least important thing. It means that where you come from and what your religion is, are not important to us at all.On the contrary, meeting different people would be so interesting for us! I love the Japanese who come here! I wonder Iran is a threat to whom. Which logical rule admits that it's logical to say a country is guilty because we THINK / PREDICT that she's going to do something wrong?!!!! And they repeat the same "nuclear" tosh over and over and brain wash people! News headlines: "We won't allow Iran to gain nuclear weapons"!!! Has Iran ever attacked any countries? No.Has it developed any nukes? No!That's what nuclear agency says.Only Iran's oppositions are pulling Iran's leg and what they say is of no credit. It's just based on political conflicts. What we're doing is legal. What they ask us to do (ignoring our international rights) is illegal and nonsense.Iran is a peaceful country. Why? It's the regional super-power and if she wanted, she could easily invade the countries in our neibourhood just like what Seddam did to our country, but as you see Iran has peaceful relationships with all of them.It could be a good example to some countries that just follow their interests. What is interesting is that the countries which accuse Iran of different things have been, and are still accused of the same things!!! This is a modern and innovative form of philosophy and logic! Some people say he said: Israel should be wiped off the map! But have they told you the rest of his speech and that why he's said this at all?You know that it's a passive sentence. He's never said that IRAN wants to wipe Israel off the map! He wasn't talking about destroying Israel. He was talking about relocating Israel, so that they could live seperate from Palestinians and they could both live in peace. They've only told you this phrase not the whole thing and it's mistranslated intentionally.Iran's always defended itself, but it's not an offensive country. Some say he's said: Holocaust is a myth! again this is a single phrase from among a long speech and there are totally logical reasons for saying so.If 6000000 Jews were killed, that's so terrible, but those 300000 Shiite Moslems killed by Saddam aren't important at all! Over 650000 Iraqi people are killed and it's not important! When Fox News simply says: America and Israel are capable of destroying and killing all Iran's 69000000 population within two weeks, it's OK and no one says they're threatening other countries to nuke them (I saw this with my own eyes on the Fox News website) Millions of people killed in Afghanistan, Hiroshima & Nakazaki and vietnam war are not considered human beings at all! Now I think you'd get the point why he's IRONICALLY said it's a mith. Moreover, don't you believe in freedom of speech/mind? Obviousely, some countries are using Iran as a victim to put the blame (their own faults) on Iran. And which country is better than Iran to be a victim? They've made the whole world believe that Iran isn't a peaceful country and represent false image of Iranians by making insulting movies like "300" . Anyone saying that it was not for political reasons is wrong. I know Americans don't like these either, but what can they do?They're not responsible for controlling what the media say.I hope someday the media would end all this instead of playing a negative role in the world. This part is just for Americans who would still argue over unimportant things: Those of you who say why Iran says "Death to America": 1.America means the U.S govt not the people 2.The new generation don't say such things and if some of them occasionally march in the streets that's because some of the stupid guys enjoy making noise and they mainly go out there to meet their girlfreids/boyfriends! Strange.Isn't it? 3.Such mottos are not just said in Iran and as you know whatever you hear is a response to the U.S govt's terrible actions which has made life for many people hell (You wouldn't deny that attacking countries is a mistake.right?) 5.The U.S gov't helped Seddam to attack Iran and I hope you know which country gave Iraq biological weapons which killed lots of Iranians 6.America hit an Iranian airplane over the Persian Gulf and killed 200 passengers for no reason 7.It's always botherng Iran by sanctions, displaying false image of Iran and Iranians, scares tourists away from Iran and is always harmful to our economy, development and credit 8.It's always despised the Iranians who travel to the U.S at their arrival (even ordinary ones, university students, sportsmen, scientists etc) To those who are upset with American hostages taken for 444 days: 1.Firstly, It's related to so many years ago and almost a part of history and don't forget that when there's a revolution, there'd be cheos and people may do things that they should not, moreover they're all alive and healthy.Aren't they? 2.The U.S has arrested Iranian diplomats in Iraq and keeps denying that they're diplomats. Now you decide who has the right to be upset with whom. It's exceeded the level of tit for tat. Isn't it better for both countries to forget about the past conflicts and to have peaceful relations? The two govts are like 10 year old children playing a game by harsh rhetoric. They don't care about hurting people's feeling. They just try to show that the people are enemies of each other to achieve their own goals. We as the people of these countries MUST NOT have any conflics. You know something? All govts are hateful.I just said the above things because it sounds unfair when some Americans talk about 444 hostage taking and I keep being silent.I hope you agree on this one! Now, what do you think?I can't wait to see both nations in peace. It'd be marvelous! Would this happen in less than 2 years? You know what I mean! Remember that: The sea is deeper. You don't always have to see the surface of it. Plz whenever you have time, find and read an article about "ethnocentrism".Knowing the meaning of this term is not enough. After reading about it, you'll feel a noticable positive change in your attitude towards different people! Guaranteed! Thanks for your time.
Q. does insulin hurt muscle tissue eventually? i have heard references to that. one former gp alluded to that but never explained. i tend to leave everything to the doc. i have had a 4-way bypass subsequent to a silent attack which did damage to tissue. i take 15 units (sliding scale) humolog with meals and 35 units of lantus at night. i am making a desperate attempt to lose weight and making progress with my own damn diet (tried it all -- i am counting calories and losing weight!). again, could the insulin be shrink all muscles. can insulin somehow slowly hurt my heart? Help; very serious. Talked to Navy asst. surgeon just retired who is under intense VA treatment and he told me insulin does, indeed, hurt muscle tissue!
What Do You Think Of Disfellowshiping? Jesus gave us a loving pattern to follow in regards to talking to our brother or sister and confronting them with either (1) problems in our relationships, or (2) with regards to unconfessed sin on their part. In Matthew 18:15-18, Jesus outlines three steps to take in talking to your brother, in attempting to settle difficulties or to right the wrong. If the three steps prove unfruitful, he says, "Let him be to you as a Gentile and a tax-gatherer." Math. 18:17b In Paul's correspondence with the Corinthians, he had heard of a fellow Christian who was cohabiting with his stepmother, and he wrote the Corinthians and told them not to associate "with any so-called brother if he should be an immoral person, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or a swindler--not to even eat with such a one..." (1 Cor. 5:11) Similar counsel was given regarding unruly ones in the church, who would not respond to initial counseling (2 Thes. 3:14,15). But in the case of the Corinthians, both the church and the individual failed to respond, and so Paul wrote them and said, "Remove the wicked man from among yourselves." The purpose of disfellowshiping is (1) to cause the repentance of the errant Christian; (2) to remove a stumbling stone from the church, so that others would not be infected (1 Cor. 5:6,7); (3) to instill the others with fear of God's judgment for pursuing a wrong course, and (4) to keep the church free from a marred reputation with the world (Rom. 2:23,24). If the errant brother was to seek forgiveness and display heartfelt repentance for his actions and attitude, he was to be forgiven and accepted back into the church. Thus he would not be overly abused by Satan, whose authority he had temporarily come under by being cast out into the world (2 Cor. 2:10,11). The tendency for unloving elders to abuse their authority is usually checked by the church having little authority over the lives of its members. But if the church or religious organization becomes an ecclesiastical system which demands absolute subjection to its authority, the Scriptures become a powerful tool to browbeat and coerce the individual into submission, out of fear of losing something very valuable to him. Elders are therefore counseled to walk in humility (1 Peter 5:16) and to become examples to the body (1 Tim. 4:12). They are to have tender affection for others (Rom. 12:10). Yet at the same time, they are to be ready to pray for the sick (James 5:14,15), correct those stepping out of line (Gal. 6:1), stop gossip and misleading talk (1 Tim. 1:37; Titus 1:9), and to warn the flock against false doctrine and false teachers or ideas that may be present in the body (Rom. 16:17,18; Titus 3:10,11. If necessary in order to protect the flock, the offender is to be marked as bad association (2 Thess. 3:14,15) or disfellowshiped (1 Cor. 5:11-13). Considering 2 John 9, 10: In this passage, the elder John minces no words in warning against teachers who went too far beyond the gospel, in promoting new teachings which denied the real meaning of the gospel. By the end of the first century, there were already many such teachers, notably the Gnostics and Docetists. To protect the church from false teaching, the apostle makes the acceptance of visiting Christians conditional on their confession that "Christ is come in the flesh" (2 John 7). The Greek verb used is in a present continuous sense, as contrasted with 1 John 4:2 and 1 John 5:6, where Christ is spoken of as having come in the flesh (past tense perspective). Howard Marshall, in The Epistles of John, states: It seems unlikely . . . that the false teachers simply denied the reality of the incarnation. The use of the present and perfect tenses becomes significant if the point is that Jesus Christ had come and still existed "in flesh." We know that some Gnostic thinkers taught that a heavenly power (the Christ) came upon Jesus at his baptism in the form of the Spirit, but that it departed from him again after the crucifixion, so that there was no lasting union of the divine Christ with the human Jesus, and hence no real, lasting incarnation. The elder's formulation of the orthodox faith in Jesus Christ seems to be designed to exclude such interpretations of the person of Jesus. For him it was axiomatic that there had been a true incarnation, that the Word had become flesh and remained flesh. (p. 70, 71) If this interpretation is true, then those who deny that Christ presently has a glorified body of flesh would be classed among the antichrists, and not only certain unorthodox groups in the first century. Jehovah's Witnesses And Disfellowshiping Jehovah's Witnesses practice disfellowshiping, not only for unrepentant sinners, but also for a number of other reasons. Since 1973, for instance, a member who smokes is subject to disfellowshiping. So would be those who work directly in defense departments or the military, or who are employed by any kind of religious organization. Walking into a church could merit this penalty, as could taking a blood transfusion, saluting the flag (or any act of patriotism), celebrating holidays, talking to a disfellowshiped person (including relatives), disagreeing with ANY doctrinal points, and the list of punishable offenses grows greater each year. It was not always so legalistic in the Watchtower. Like many religious movements, grace abounds in the beginning; but as they get more structured, rules and regulations take the place of grace and mercy. Note this early statement by the Watchtower: We would not refuse to treat one as a brother because he did not believe the Society is the Lord's channel. If others see it in a different way, that is their privilege. There should be full liberty of conscience. WT April 1, 1920, p. 100, 101. It didn't take long, however, for the "persecuted" to become the persecutors. By 1930, those who disagreed with President Rutherford were classed as "evil slaves" and were classed with the "man of perdition," to be destroyed. (WT 1930, p. 275-281) In 1952, a distinct disfellowshiping policy was laid out. Witnesses were not to even say a greeting to disfellowshiped ones. The March 1, 1952 Watchtower said, "Those who are acquainted with the situation in the congregation should never say 'Hello' or 'Goodbye' to him. He is not welcome in our midst, we avoid him." (p. 141) By 1955, associating with a disfellowshiped person was grounds for disfellowshiping for a JW. (WT 1955, p. 607.) In January of 1972 it was declared that homosexuality and bestiality by one's marriage partner were not considered as porneia (fornication), and were therefore not grounds for divorce (Matt. 5:32). If one divorced under such conditions, he would lay himself open to adultery and could be disfellowshiped. (WT Jan. 1, 1972, p. 32.) Yet, by December of the very same year, they had reversed their stand, saying that ALL types of illicit sexual intercourse are grounds for divorce, including the above-mentioned acts. (WT December 15, 1972, p. 767, 768.) By 1974, the Governing Body entered the bedrooms of their subjects. Standards of conduct were laid out for married couples in bed. Oral or anal sex, or anything classified as a "perversion" or "unnatural practices" in the sex act would subject them to disfellowshiping. (WT November 15, 1974, p. 704. See also WT of 1974 pages 160, 484-486.) Oddly enough, in April of '74 they had seemingly relaxed the tension towards disfellowshiped persons. In the April l974 WT, for instance, on page 467, they said: Congregation elders, as well as individual members of a congregation, therefore, ought to guard against developing an attitude approaching that which some Jewish Rabbinical writers fomented towards Gentiles in viewing them as virtual enemies. The gist of the article was that disfellowshiped ones were not to be treated with unnecessary cruelty; especially members of one's family or those in obvious hardship situations. They stated that 'we don't want to be like Pharisees' who walked on the other side of the road when a Gentile was in trouble. (WT Aug. 1, 1974, p. 467.) With the Feb. 15th issue of 1978, the bedroom rules were now not to be enforced by elders, and publishers were not to be intimidated or spied on any more; although the previously banned practices were still considered unclean. (p. 32) A reversal of this trend of grace was in store for the '80's, however. With the unrest in the organization over the 1975 debacle, and now the headquarters shakeup in 1980, a hard line was taken in 1981 against any disfellowshiped or disassociated person. The Light Gets Blighter With the failure of 1975 to bring the end of the world, as well as the headquarters shakeup in 1980, a hard line was taken in 1981 against any disfellowshiped or disassociated person. Even if they were members of one's own family, they were now to be shunned except in the most necessary functions of life. (WT Sept. 15, 1981, p. 26-31 under "If a Relative is Disfellowshiped.") The Watchtower plainly says that Witnesses shouldn't even say 'hello' to a person who has left the organization. On page 25 of this magazine they say: And we all know from our experience over the years that a simple "Hello" to someone can be the first step that develops into a conversation and maybe even a friendship. Would we want to take that first step with a disfellowshiped person? In spite of the ban, however, some Witnesses were speaking out in discontent or disagreement with the Watchtower. An even greater number were subject to "witch hunts" where suspected dissenters were asked a series of questions to determine if they still believed the Society was "God's channel of communication." Many of those questioned were automatically disfellowshiped, often without a fair trial and in secret meetings. Yet, the word got out through the grapevine that all was not well with the Watchtower's doctrine. A special problem began to develop within families where one dissenter might speak to several others, and yet remain concealed from the eyes of the elders. In order to choke the grapevine, the Watchtower of January l, l983 (p. 30,31) contained a "Questions From Readers" article on "How can we assist those in our congregation who have a disfellowshiped relative?" In the first part of the article, they attack the "heart condition" of such a person, denying any possibility that they may have left the organization for a valid reason. Here is a sample quote: It is to illustrate that if someone is disfellowshiped, he must at the time have had a truly bad heart and/or been determined to pursue a God-dishonoring course. Peter said that the condition of such a person is worse than before he became a Christian; he is like "a sow that was bathed but has gone back to rolling in the mire." However, the Watchtower reluctantly acknowledged that people are human (an ever-present hindrance to their techniques). They continued: But human emotions and attachments can have a powerful effect, making it difficult for people to act in accord with the disfellowshiping decree if a relative is involved. As the article continues, those who left the organization (including relatives) were put down for interfering with the rest of the family's "happiness." Using an illustration involving three generations of a family: (1) children, (2) parents who have been disfellowshiped, and (3) the grandparents (who are typical JWs), they comment: Of course, the grandparents have to determine if some necessary family matters require limited contact with the(ir) disfellowshiped children. And they might sometimes have the grandchildren visit them. How sad, though, that by their unchristian course the children interfere with the normal pleasure that such grandparents enjoyed! However, the reader must see some vestige of human consideration in the midst of this relentless tirade. So the following sentence, humorous in its irony, is injected: We just need to go out of our way to be warm, genuinely interested and, above all, spiritual. The attack continues with the example of a couple, one of which is disfellowshiped: ". . . the expelled mate has proved that he is not the sort of person that we want to be around...So maybe a visit can be made when the disfellowshiped one is known to be out of the house. So, in other words, the Watchtower has, indeed, gone so far as to develop the attitude of the Jewish Rabbinical writers in Jesus' day and have no doubt surpassed them on occasion. Not only are Witnesses currently not to speak to anyone who may leave the organization, but they are to avoid them like the plague. Those who have seen this attitude in practice could add that JWs usually avoid even making eye contact with such persons, and might even move out of the neighborhood. This has happened in some cases. It is all part of the attitude that they must "punish" those that leave, and this punishment is almost always of a psychological nature. Due to an increase in lawsuits directed against the Watchtower over disfellowshiping since the late '70's, the Society officially stopped disfellowshiping people who voluntarily want out of the organization as of July 1, 1984. Though provision had previously been made for this in the book, Organization For Kingdom Preaching published in 1972, virtually all were disfellowshiped who disassociated from the Watchtower, regardless of the reason. Though this practice has continued in some cases since the July 1st article, others are now allowed to be considered as "disassociated," though the treatment is the same as if they were disfellowshiped. However, evil motives or wicked sins are automatically attributed to those who wish to disassociate. Notice the way the Watchtower expresses their thoughts regarding these ones: Or, as mentioned in John 6:66, occasionally a Witness on his own initiative will decide to leave the way of truth. He may even make known his decision after the committee begins to look into his wrongdoing. . . . Then it will no longer be necessary for the elders to continue their investigation. (WT 7/1/84, p. 31) The implication is that he is a "wrongdoer" either because he is leaving, or more likely, because he is involved in some kind of sin. The December 15, 1984 WT added this barb in an effort to prevent Witnesses from learning too much: We have been forewarned that there will be apostates and people who just like to have their ears tickled. Counsel such as at 2 John 9-11, 1 Corinthians 5:11-13 and 2 Timothy 3:5 allows no room for associating with those who turn away from the truth. Nor do we purchase or read their writings. (p. 19) It became obvious that too many were still questioning the Watchtower, reading literature that exposed their past, or were talking to disfellowshiped relatives. So in the July 15, 1985 WT, the Governing Body applied the injunction in 2 John 10 (against antichrists) to those that disassociate themselves. No mention at all is made of the context of this passage (verse 7 tells us that these ones deny Christ as come in the flesh). Nevertheless, the penalty meant for true apostate teachers is now applied to ANYONE disassociating himself. The article is not specific as to whether this total shunning is to be carried out with relatives living in one's own home or not. Quoting from their AID book in reference to "apostates," they say, Such ones willfully abandoning the Christian congregation thereby become part of the "antichrist." (1 John 2:18,19) A person who had willfully and formally disassociated himself from the congregation would have matched that description. (p. 31) The Witnesses are then counseled not to even say a simple greeting to such ones, and to avoid having them in their houses at all. In the case of a married mate being an "apostate," there might be concessions made, though this is not indicated here. Still, some Witnesses continued to entertain doubts and talk about these in private. In November of 1985, the Watchtower warned its readers of "sharing in the sins of others." How might they do this? By failing to tell the elders of a fellow brother or sister who is a "wrongdoer." Since being a "wrongdoer" includes disagreeing with the Watchtower, members are encouraged to tattle on friends and relatives who hold to any variation from Watchtower doctrine. If they don't, then they share in the "apostate's" sin. (WT Nov. 15, 1985, p. 19,20) The Governing Body is taking the stand that those who reject any of the teachings of the 'mother' organization are 'apostasizing' from the true Christian faith. The March 15, 1986 issue of The Watchtower even provides the reader with visual aids, as it shows a picture of a JW demonstrating how to throw 'apostate' literature away as soon as it hits the mailbox. They say, Now, what will you do if you are confronted with apostate teaching-subtle reasonings-claiming that what you believe as one of Jehovah's Witnesses is not the truth? For example, what will you do if you receive a letter or some literature, open it and see right away that it is from an apostate? Will curiosity cause you to read it, just to see what he has to say? You may even reason: "It won't affect me; I'm too strong in the truth. And, besides, if we have the truth, we have nothing to fear. The truth will stand the test." In thinking this way, some have fed their minds upon apostate reasoning and have fallen prey to serious questioning and doubt. (p. 12) Therefore, resolve in your heart that you will never even touch the poison that apostates want you to sip. (p. 20) The Governing Body is cultivating in the minds of their followers an abject fear of any dissenters. They thereby hope to cause the Witnesses to run at the sight of anything that seriously challenges their authority. In the April 1, 1986 issue of The Watchtower, an effort is made to support their disfellowshiping of those who disagree in the slightest with Watchtower teaching. They accuse the clergy of having no authority because they are not able to agree on all matters of doctrine. Then they take Galatians 1:8,9 out of context in order to "prove" that the churches are teaching a different gospel than the apostle Paul, which is not true. They quote 1 Cor. 1:10 as an attempt to "prove" that the early church was not divided, but the context of the verse proves the opposite, since the Corinthians DID have a problem with divisions. Paul never actually says they settled the differences, either. Furthermore, the church was full of divisions over minor issues according to the Revelation of John (chapter 13). A key statement is then made: Approved association with Jehovah's Witnesses requires accepting the entire range of the true teachings of the Bible, including those Scriptural beliefs that are unique to Jehovah's Witnesses. What do such beliefs include? (p. 31) They then list the beliefs necessary: 1) Their view on the issue of God's sovereignty. 2) Jesus was a preexistent creature prior to his birth. 3) The Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses are the sole interpreters of the Bible. 4) Christ returned in 1914 and set up his kingdom in heaven. 5) 144,000 will go to heaven. 6) Armageddon is near, followed by the Paradise earth, where the rest of the Witnesses will live. The Governing Body is thusly confusing the issue, by painting a false picture of the New Testament church. The church was divided on many things, according to the New Testament. On the major doctrinal issues they agreed, though, such as the message of the gospel (1 Cor. 15:3,4), the incarnation of Christ (1 John 4:2; 2 John 7), and that he is the promised Messiah in the Jewish context (1 John 2:22,23). Later heresies would demand further clarifications of orthodoxy, such as the Deity of Christ, the means of salvation, etc. The orthodox churches today are in agreement on these issues. Furthermore, the Witnesses admit that, since 1918, they have been teaching a "new gospel not taught in centuries past," namely, the invisible return of Christ and setting up the kingdom in 1914 (WT 5/1/81, p.17). Therefore, they, not the churches, fall under the condemnation of Gal. 1:8,9 of preaching a different gospel, and a different Jesus (2 Cor. 11:4). As time goes on, we can expect the Watchtower to become even more paranoid regarding the questioning of their authority or doctrine. This is largely for two reasons: (1) there is an ever-increasing amount of information available that exposes their scholastic dishonesty, and (2) there is an ever-increasing number of dissenters who will not remain silent. Their only recourse (assuming they want to maintain their present absolute authority over their members) is to fortify the "Watchtower Curtain" against people defecting towards freedom. Please pray with us that this curtain will be lifted. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- reprinted from the Bethel Ministries Newsletter of Jan/Feb 1987 SIMON SAYS . . . Shun Your Own Family by Joe and Helen Ortega and Randy Watters "Simon says" is a game normally played by children; a kind of follow the leader. Sometimes, however, it is played by adults, with serious consequences. This article is about such consequences, as observed among Jehovah's Witnesses. It was not too long ago that this Newsletter ran two articles on disfellowshiping, so I apologize for any redundancy. Perhaps after reading the letters written to us in this issue, you will understand why there is a need for another article. There are some days I cannot hold back the tears when I read these letters and see the pain and suffering that so many are experiencing upon leaving the Watchtower. As we know, the Jehovah's Witness families of such ones are encouraged to treat them worse than a stranger. The outcast is to be shunned without an acknowledgment of their existence and the treatment is to be devoid of human courtesy and compassion. To those not familiar with the Watchtower organization, such treatment is shocking. Indeed, it is a far cry from the description Jesus gave on how to recognize his disciples. He said we would know them by their love (1 John 13:35). The following is an example of the treatment given to a man who resigned from the Watchtower Society when he realized they were not "the truth." His wife divorced him when he left the WT. She is still a Witness. He had a severe automobile accident and spent weeks in the hospital from extensive head injuries. He writes: My ex-wife never once let the children call to see how I was or even send me a card. Not one Jehovah's Witness ever came by or wrote a note to see how I was. However, I was blessed to have some good Christian friends call me and come by the hospital. Another letter is from a lady who was never a Jehovah's Witness. Her daughter became a Witness. The lady's "crime" was being a Christian and attending a Christian church. She writes these heartbreaking words: "She has stopped coming to see me and she will not bring my grandchildren either. Please tell me what I can do?" Still another letter states: "After I was disfellowshiped, my entire family would have nothing to do with me. I cannot see my daughter or her children. It has been 5 years." A man in Florida writes: "I have four daughters and I haven't seen them in three years. They are Jehovah's Witnesses." A young woman from Chicago wrote recently: It is hard for my children to understand why they cannot go to their grandmother's funeral. She died a Jehovah's Witness and the entire family are Witnesses. They were asked not to come because I was disfellowshiped. They really don't understand. Why does this so-called Bible-believing organization have such unscriptural and heartless rules that break up family ties? Let's reexamine their explanations from various Watchtower magazines. As far back as 1963 they said, [Disfellowshiping] serves as a powerful warning example to those in the congregation, since they will be able to see the disastrous consequences of ignoring Jehovah's laws. Paul said: "Reprove before all onlookers persons who practice sin, that the rest also may have fear."1 Tim. 5:20. (WT 7/1/63, p.411) While disfellowshiping for unrepentant gross sins is biblically proper (1 Cor. 5:13), the WT cuts off anyone who disagrees in the slightest with Watchtower policy or teaching; one of the many reasons they are recognized as a cult. (For a full treatment of the Scriptural reasons for disfellowshiping, see the March/June issues of this Newsletter.) To be disfellowshiped by the elders of the Watchtower (even over minor doctrinal issues) means being totally shunned by God as well: It is a great tragedy for one to be disfellowshiped. For this means a cutting off from Jehovah and his favor. The disfellowshiping action taken by the congregation is merely the confirmation of what has already taken place in the heavens. These visible agents of God [the elders] merely acknowledge what Jehovah has already done in heaven. (emphasis added) A disfellowshiped person is cut off from the congregation, and the congregation has nothing to do with him. Those in the congregation will not extend the hand of fellowship to this one, nor will they so much as say "Hello" or "Good-bye" to him. (ibid., p.411,412) [The members of the congregation] will not converse with such one or show him recognition in any way. If the disfellowshiped person attempts to talk to others in the congregation, they should walk away from him. In this way he will feel the full import of his sin. . . . the disfellowshiped person who wants to do what is right should inform any approaching him in innocence that he is disfellowshiped and they should not be conversing with him. (ibid., p.413; emphasis added) What about blood ties? The July 15, 1963 Watchtower (p. 443) goes into this question in detail. They consider the family who does not live under the same roof as well as the family who lives together. They insist if he does not live under the same roof, the only contact with him would be when absolutely necessary. Let's look at their words. Under the title, "Family Responsibility in Keeping Jehovah's Worship Pure" they refer to the relative not living in the home: What if a person cut off from God's congregation unexpectedly visits dedicated relatives? What should the Christian do then? If this is the first occurrence of such visit, the dedicated Christian can, if his conscience permits, carry on family courtesies on that particular occasion. However, if his conscience does not permit, he is under no obligation to do so. If courtesies are extended, though, the Christian should make it clear that this will not be made a regular practice. . . . The excommunicated relative should be made to realize that his visits are not now welcomed as they were previously when he was walking correctly with Jehovah. (WT 7/15/63, p.443,444) The Watchtower follows up with how to treat the disfellowshiped mate who is living under the same roof: If the excommunicated husband insists on offering prayer at mealtimes, the dedicated members of the household would not say "Amen" to the prayer, nor would they join hands as some have the custom, as this would be participating spiritually. They could bow their heads and offer their own silent prayer to Jehovah. (ibid., p.446) But wait! "New light" from Jehovah? Ten years later it seemed that God changed his attitude and rules regarding the cutoff ones and decided to show love and mercy to them. Note the August 1, 1974 Watchtower (p. 467) under the heading, "Maintaining a Balanced View Toward the Disfellowshiped One": Congregation elders, as well as individual members of a congregation, therefore, ought to guard against developing an attitude approaching that which some Jewish Rabbinical writers fomented towards Gentiles in viewing them as virtual enemies. It is right to hate the wrong committed by the disfellowshiped one, but it is not right to hate the person nor is it right to treat such ones in an inhumane way. (WT 8/1/74, p.467) . . . not "mixing in company" with a person, or treating such one as "a man of the nations," does not prevent us from being decent, courteous, considerate and humane. (ibid., p.468) Yet, even during this time of liberality, shunning (in the form of holding back one's affection) was practiced: . . . How, then, can parents carry out the injunction to discipline their children in harmony with God's Word when one of their children is disfellowshiped? They can still use God's Word or other publications that discuss the Bible in training the son or daughter, but they use these in a corrective manner, not as though having a spiritual `good time' with such a one in the way they could with the other children. How this is handled is for the parents to decide. This does not call for unkindness, but they do not accord such disfellowshiped son or daughter the same approved spiritual relationship granted the others. (ibid., p.470; emphasis added) One can only imagine how this "special treatment" affected such unfortunate children. Simon says . . . "Take a harder line." Reading the statements about being "courteous and humane" sounds as if God changed his mind and felt pity and compassion for the erring ones. Sadly, this was not the case. Jehovah, according to the Watchtower Society, went back to the "old light" as "new light." Once again the unloving, unfeeling hatred for those cutoff ones was brought back. The Jan. 1, 1983 Watchtower accused any who may be disfellowshiped (for whatever reason) of having a "truly bad heart" or pursuing a course of wickedness: It is to illustrate that if someone is disfellowshiped, he must at the time have had a truly bad heart and/or been determined to pursue a God-dishonoring course. Peter said that the condition of such a person is worse than before he became a Christian; he is like "a sow that was bathed but has gone back to rolling in the mire." (p.30) The Watchtower did reluctantly acknowledge that people are human. They continued: But human emotions and attachments can have a powerful effect, making it difficult for people to act in accord with the disfellowshiping decree if a relative is involved. (ibid., p.31) The attack continues with the example of a couple, one of which is disfellowshiped. When other Witnesses come to visit the couple, they must exercise caution, for . . . the expelled mate has proved that he is not the sort of person that we want to be around. . . So maybe a visit can be made when the disfellowshiped one is known to be out of the house. (ibid., p.31) While Jehovah's Witnesses would have you believe that those who are disfellowshiped are gross sinners who were rightfully disfellowshiped according to the Bible (1 Cor. 5:13; 2 John 9-11), the truth of the matter is, many of those disfellowshiped simply disagreed with some particular teaching of the organization. Raymond Franz, former member of the Watchtower's Governing Body in New York, writes: I know many persons who clearly evidence [a] concern [for truth], yet who are labeled as "apostates," "antichrists," "instruments of Satan." In case after case after case, the sole basis for such condemnation is that they could not honestly agree with all the organization's teaching or policies. (Crisis of Conscience, Atlanta: Commentary Press, 1983, p. 32) Franz describes disfellowshiping thusly: What must it mean to a mother, who has seen a baby daughter come forth from her own body, has nursed that baby, cared for it through illness, has trained the young girl through the formative years of life, living her problems with her, feeling her disappointments and sadnesses as if they were her own, shedding tears along with her tears-what must it mean to that mother to have her daughter, now an adult, suddenly reject her and do so simply because her mother sought to be true to her conscience and to God? What must it do to a father or mother to see a son or daughter marry and be told, for the same reason, that `it would be best if they did not appear at the wedding,' or know that a daughter has given birth to a child and be told that they should not come to see their grandchild? This is not imagination. Exactly those things are happening to many parents who have been associated with Jehovah's Witnesses. (ibid., p.33) Witnesses are currently instructed not to speak to anyone who may leave the organization, and are to avoid them like the plague. Those who have seen this attitude in practice could add that JWs usually avoid even making eye contact with such persons, and might even move out of the neighborhood. This has happened in some cases. It is all part of the attitude that they must "punish" those that leave, and this punishment is almost always of a psychological nature. Evil motives or wicked sins are automatically attributed to those who wish to disassociate. Notice the way the Watchtower automatically implies they are "wrongdoers": Or, as mentioned in John 6:66, occasionally a Witness on his own initiative will decide to leave the way of truth. He may even make known his decision after the committee begins to look into his wrongdoing. . . . Then it will no longer be necessary for the elders to continue their investigation. (WT 7/1/84, p. 31; emphasis added) The implication is that he is a "wrongdoer"; either because he is leaving, or more likely, because he is involved in some kind of sin. Simon Says . . . "Close Your Eyes" The December 15, 1984 WT added this barb in an effort to prevent Witnesses from learning too much: We have been forewarned that there will be apostates and people who just like to have their ears tickled. Quoting from their AID book in reference to "apostates," they say, Such ones willfully abandoning the Christian congregation thereby become part of the "antichrist." (1 John 2:18,19) A person who had willfully and formally disassociated himself from the congregation would have matched that description.(p. 31) What Will "Simon" Say Next? With many court cases now in progress in various parts of the United States and Canada, it is hard to say exactly what will happen in the next couple of years. Most likely, the WT will continue to enforce a hard line against any communication with disfellowshiped friends or relatives. The reason is simple: The Witness will be asked to examine the history and cover-ups of the Watchtower organization, so as to reconsider their allegiance to the New York-based organization. Since an objective examination of the Watchtower organization virtually always leads to the Witness leaving, the Governing Body wants to prevent this at all costs. To lose their followers is to lose their power. If "Simon said" then, who would jump?
what would be the hypothesis, independent variable and dependent variable of the article? Prayers offered by strangers had no effect on the recovery of people who were undergoing heart surgery, a large and long-awaited study has found. And patients who knew they were being prayed for had a higher rate of post-operative complications like abnormal heart rhythms, perhaps because of the expectations the prayers created, the researchers suggested. Because it is the most scientifically rigorous investigation of whether prayer can heal illness, the study, begun almost a decade ago and involving more than 1,800 patients, has for years been the subject of speculation. The question has been a contentious one among researchers. Proponents have argued that prayer is perhaps the most deeply human response to disease, and that it may relieve suffering by some mechanism that is not yet understood. Skeptics have contended that studying prayer is a waste of money and that it presupposes supernatural intervention, putting it by definition beyond the reach of science. At least 10 studies of the effects of prayer have been carried out in the last six years, with mixed results. The new study was intended to overcome flaws in the earlier investigations. The report was scheduled to appear in The American Heart Journal next week, but the journal's publisher released it online yesterday. In a hurriedly convened news conference, the study's authors, led by Dr. Herbert Benson, a cardiologist and director of the Mind/Body Medical Institute near Boston, said that the findings were not the last word on the effects of so-called intercessory prayer. But the results, they said, raised questions about how and whether patients should be told that prayers were being offered for them. "One conclusion from this is that the role of awareness of prayer should be studied further," said Dr. Charles Bethea, a cardiologist at Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City and a co-author of the study. Other experts said the study underscored the question of whether prayer was an appropriate subject for scientific study. "The problem with studying religion scientifically is that you do violence to the phenomenon by reducing it to basic elements that can be quantified, and that makes for bad science and bad religion," said Dr. Richard Sloan, a professor of behavioral medicine at Columbia and author of a forthcoming book, "Blind Faith: The Unholy Alliance of Religion and Medicine." The study cost $2.4 million, and most of the money came from the John Templeton Foundation, which supports research into spirituality. The government has spent more than $2.3 million on prayer research since 2000. Dean Marek, a chaplain at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., and a co-author of the report, said the study said nothing about the power of personal prayer or about prayers for family members and friends. Working in a large medical center like Mayo, Mr. Marek said, "You hear tons of stories about the power of prayer, and I don't doubt them." In the study, the researchers monitored 1,802 patients at six hospitals who received coronary bypass surgery, in which doctors reroute circulation around a clogged vein or artery. The patients were broken into three groups. Two were prayed for; the third was not. Half the patients who received the prayers were told that they were being prayed for; half were told that they might or might not receive prayers. The researchers asked the members of three congregations — St. Paul's Monastery in St. Paul; the Community of Teresian Carmelites in Worcester, Mass.; and Silent Unity, a Missouri prayer ministry near Kansas City — to deliver the prayers, using the patients' first names and the first initials of their last names. The congregations were told that they could pray in their own ways, but they were instructed to include the phrase, "for a successful surgery with a quick, healthy recovery and no complications." Analyzing complications in the 30 days after the operations, the researchers found no differences between those patients who were prayed for and those who were not. In another of the study's findings, a significantly higher number of the patients who knew that they were being prayed for — 59 percent — suffered complications, compared with 51 percent of those who were uncertain. The authors left open the possibility that this was a chance finding. But they said that being aware of the strangers' prayers also may have caused some of the patients a kind of performance anxiety. "It may have made them uncertain, wondering am I so sick they had to call in their prayer team?" Dr. Bethea said. The study also found that more patients in the uninformed prayer group — 18 percent — suffered major complications, like heart attack or stroke, compared with 13 percent in the group that did not receive prayers. In their report, the researchers suggested that this finding might also be a result of chance. One reason the study was so widely anticipated was that it was led by Dr. Benson, who in his work has emphasized the soothing power of personal prayer and meditation. At least one earlier study found lower complication rates in patients who received intercessory prayers; others found no difference. A 1997 study at the University of New Mexico, involving 40 alcoholics in rehabilitation, found that the men and women who knew they were being prayed for actually fared worse. The new study was rigorously designed to avoid problems like the ones that came up in the earlier studies. But experts said the study could not overcome perhaps the largest obstacle to prayer study: the unknown amount of prayer each person received from friends, families, and congregations around the world who pray daily for the sick and dying. Bob Barth, the spiritual director of Silent Unity, the Missouri prayer ministry, said the findings would not affect the ministry's mission. "A person of faith would say that this study is interesting," Mr. Barth said, "but we've been praying a long time and we've seen prayer work, we know it works, and the research on prayer and spirituality is just getting started."
men, would you find it overbearing if your girlfriend told you what to eat? my bf is 15 years older than me, and i'm a little concerned about his diet. he's a very busy man, so it's hard for him to eat healthy, he ends up eating out a lot. he gets lots of exercise, so that's fine. i want to make sure he stays healthy b/c i care about him and i don't want anything to happen to him (my dad died at a very young age - massive heart attack) so i try to make sure he eats healthier. more fruits, veggies, chicken breast, etc. i cook for him and i've cut things out of his diet, like butter, oil, unnecessary carbs. that's how i eat anyway. i'm trying to get him to eat out less, so sometimes i'll tell him not to do that and last week i told him he eats too much red meat and should cut down. he hasn't complained about it - he just remains silent when i tell him what not to eat. i don't want to be overbearing, but b/c i lost my dad so young i'm all paranoid. i don't want him to think i'm trying to control him, and i don't want to scare him and tell him about my dad! he's not overweight at all. he doesn't eat much cuz he's so busy but when he does eat it's not exactly healthy!
Please help make it better!? There once was a reporter that heard of a haunted old western town. Beyond her hesitation she decided to investigate this town as her job entitled “the unknown of the dead”. She arrived to this town early one morning, the place abandoned, old trucks, dust, almost like no one ever lived there. She decided to look around and saw a rocking chair through the window rocking; she was thrilled, as now she has discovered that civilization there does exist. She ran into the house to find no one in sight yet the chair still swaying back and forth. Anxiously she fled out the house, to find a child, bare foot, and staring right at her. She moved closer to get a better look at the young girl; “BANG” that noise shattered behind her, she turned back around with dismay and the girl was gone! She started to hear children’s laughter, searching for the laughter she noticed children sitting by their windows, and then disappeared. In an instant she started to hear sweet singing of nursery rhymes, rhythmic knockings on a wall that faced her, the trucks creaking and matting down as though someone would be sitting on it. Everything became silent. She run’s to her car to find her keys gone and herself lying on the dusty desert floor. And then overcome by darkness. She wakes up in her car and realizes this was all a dream. She travels home to see her husband lying awake on the floor; she sits down beside him and strokes his face. Only to see him sit dead still, he starts to cry and she notices his wedding ring in his hands. A note beside him telling that she’s dyed of a heart attack! Only then she realizes she’s dead and what happened to her was no dream but who would ever know the truth!
How much do you know us and our country(Iran)? I think reading this in 5-7 minutes would be better than listening to the news in a lifteime.Plz don't think I'm a very old person.Just 18.A university student studying English who just cannot sit back and hope. My question is: what percentage of what I say is acceptable to you? This article has three parts: 1.Cultural and general info 2.music and 3.political, so plz read it from the top to the bottom. Most part of their hair is out and they put on to much make up, also wearing scarves is a part of our culture.Iran is one of the super-consumers of cosmics (which is bad for our economy)! People do whatever they wish to and some of the things they do, don't fit our culture at all, however it's normal in Iran. You'll be surprised seeing the difference between what you imagined before and how the real Iran is! It's wonderful.Everything's so great if you don't take unemployment and air pollution into account. They've got rights that have made it difficult for men to marry them, because husbands buy them expensive things and treat them very well, otherwise women will have the right to ask them a great amount of money which most husbands cannot afford, so they'll be imprisoned. The only thing that women are not allowed to do in Iran is getting into public football stadiums and that's just because IN IRAN, such places are usually full of cheeky guys who would cheek girls.I don't think girls would go there, even if they're allowed to do so. Another funny thing: Your footage about stoning the women who have committed adultery.Have you ever asked yourself they relate to how many years ago?Just for your information, those are from Afghanistan which was once ruled by those freaks (Taliban).I find it difficult to make you understand that Iran, Iraq and Afghanistan are SEPERATE COUNTRIES! and that we're Persian and some Turkish not Arab! And I find it even more difficult to make you understand that Iran is a normal country like any other countries in the world. There's nothing mysterious about it!(The media is very good at making scary titles: BEHIND THE CLOSED DOORS!!! A small example is this 17 year old boy who's invented 72 amazing inventions. You don't know that Iranian students and sportsmen are winning gold and silver medals in different compotitions in the world all the time such as robotics, biology, maths, physics, sports, anything! Why don't the media talk about them?Did you know that the countries having the highest number of scientists in the world are in this order? 1-India 2-Korea 3-Iran A few weeks ago Iran uncovered the most effective anti-H.I.V medicine and now it's signing treaties with other countries to export it.I digged the news on the internet, but there was no single sign of that. What I found instead? "President Bush CLAIMS that bomb parts are imported from Iran into Iraq!" The media are injustice. They'd put CLAIMS on the headlines, but they would never talk about facts! Some interesting facts: Iran is the pionier in medicine and genetics and Iranian surgens have found lots of new methods for treating spinal defects and many other diseases (mainly the treatment for different types of cancer) and the the best brain and heart surgens are Iranian surgens. The head of Mars Mission in NASA is Iranian. One of the best designer of sports cars working in Germany is Iranian. Some of the best 3D animators are Iranian.Iran is one of the best countries in counter-engineering.Holds the second place in building dams. The 4th highest tower (Milad tower) in the world is in Tehran (which you can visit in the second link). The champion weight-lifter is Iranian. The woman, and a song by one of the pop singers who/which won the nobel peace prize are Iranians. And as you all know, Iranian girls are famous for being terrific.Persian rug and Persian literature, many Persian poets and scientists that are so famous.Persian culture is now westernised and only a little has survived! According to statistics Tehran is the cheapest capital city in the world for foriegners with Dollars of course not for us! (Cos our rate is different: one Dollar=about 950 Tomans!) Who do you think is building Dubi?Arabs? No my friends, Iranian architectures, engineers and traders funding them, cos they don't think building the same things in Iran would be beneficial for them, Since the media scare tourists away from Iran. There are many other things. And also, Iran is a very independant country. It has nearly all the developed industries and technologies and doesn't need other countries to survive! That's why the unfair U.N sanctions don't bother us! The list is endless. Some charactristics of Iranians would be: Proud, greedy, hard-working, intelligent, ambitious, not realistic, not so religious, not so generous, not punctual, impatient, well-dressed, formal, well-educated, warm and friendly and hospitable. Some people think, Iran's a desert! Iran's a modern country with very beautiful nature and lots of historical places to visit. Please take a look at the following links and see if Iran looks like what you think or not! (Surely it doesn't!) This is a photo of Tehran: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/7/79/Tehran-2-1600.jpg http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tehran If you like you can visit these too, hope you like them: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Hills_south_west_of_Sanandaj_near_the_village_of_Kilaneh.jpg http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Jhcfjuhfuvfjhyf.jpg http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Dariushhotel2.jpg http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Kish-island.gif http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Dariushhotel3.jpg http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iran Some people think music is forbidden in Iran.Did you know that Iranian pop music has won the prize in France in 2005? All Iranian songs are current pop /Trance/ DJ music.I send them to my American and Canadian chat friends and they all admit that it's the best music they've ever heard. They specially love the beat. You can just right click on the links below and choose "Save Target As" to download them. You'll love Iranian style. It's nothing like what you expect! See how the media are fooling people? None of the things you hear on the media about Iran are true.If you think I've been admiring Iran too much, that's because you'd do the same thing if you were looked down nearly everyday for some false reasons. I think it's better to clarify some political issues as well: Some of the Americans I chatted with, said in the U.S it's said that president Ahmadinejad hates the U.S and Israel and wants to nuke them!! The thing is that they occasionally make some statements that the media would misuse it agaisnt Iran. like picking up some specific sensitive phrases from among a long speech (without reffering to the main points and reasons for that speech) and putting so many bad comments on that.No sane person would take it serious. First of all, Iranians don't hate anyone. If our government complains about some injustice going on in the world, it's not bad.Is it? We hate neither Jews nor Americans. They're both nice people. If their media are fooling them, it's not their fault. If I were in their shoes, I would hate Iran too regarding all the terrible lies they keep hearing about it nearly everyday.Although ordinary Iranians don't care about world affairs, I've got to say that for us Israel is not equal to Jews! Israel is a govt.Jews are faithful people! A few of them live here in our neighbourhood and they live just like the rest of Iranians. No difference. And two of Iran's parliment members are Jews. Who says we want to force the others to convert to Islam?Have you ever found a Muslem knocking at your door asking you to do so?That's so funny. Christians and Jews are both God believers and respectful to us.I wonder why the media like putting words in our mouth and raising hatred. In Iran, religion would be the least important thing. It means that where you come from and what your religion is, are not important to us at all.And I wonder why some Muslem countries think there's a problem between Shiites and Sunnies. It doesn't make sense in Iran. I wonder Iran is a threat to whom? Which logical rule admits that it's logical to say a country is guilty because we THINK / PREDICT that she's going to do something wrong?!!!! Has Iran ever attacked any countries? There's no proof on that. That's even what nuclear agency says.Only Iran's oppositions are pulling Iran's leg. What we're doing is legal. What they ask us to do (ignoring our international rights) is illegal and nonsense.Iran is a peaceful country. Why? It's the regional super-power and if she wanted, she could invade the countries in our neibourhood just as what Seddam did to our country, but as you see Iran has peaceful relationships with all of them.It could be a good example to some countries that just follow their interests. What is interesting is that the countries which accuse Iran of different things have been, and are still accused of the same things!!! This could be a modern and innovative form of philosophy and logic! Some say he said: Israel should be wiped off the map! But have they told you the rest of his speech and that why he's said this at all? If you know a little literature, you know that it's a passive sentence. He's never said that IRAN wants to wipe Israel off the map! And he wasn't talking about destroying Israel. He was talking about relocating Israel, so that they could live seperate from Palestinians and they both could live in peace. They've only told you this phrase not the rest of it and it's mistranslated deliberitely.Iran's always defended itself, but it's not an offensive country. While some countries which have nukes are clearly threatening Iran to nuke her! Good, isn't it? I know Americans don't like these either, but what can they do?They can't control what the media says.I hope someday the media would end all this instead of playing a negative role in the world. 3.Such mottos are not just said in Iran and as you know whatever you hear is a response to the U.S govt's terrible actions which has made life for many people hell (You wouldn't deny that attacking countries is a mistake.right?) 5.The U.S govt helped Seddam to attack Iran and I hope you know which country gave Iraq biological weapons which killed lots of Iranians 6.America hit an Iranian airplane over the Persian Gulf and killed 200 passengers for no reason 7.It's always botherng Iran by sanctions, displaying false image of Iran and Iranians, scares tourists away from Iran and is always harmful to our economy, development and credit 8.It's always despised the Iranians who travel to the U.S at their arrival (even ordinary ones, university students, sportsmen, scientists etc) To those who are upset with American hostages taken for 444 days: 1.It's related to so many years ago and don't forget that when there's a revolution, there'd be cheos and people may do things that they should not, moreover they're all alive and healthy.Aren't they? 2.The U.S has arrested Iranian diplomats in Iraq and keeps denying that they're diplomats. Now you decide who has the right to be upset with whom. It's exceeded the level of tit for tat. It's better for both countries to forget about the past conflicts and to have peaceful relations. The two govts are like 10 year old children jumping at each other verbally, but we as the people of these countries MUST NOT have any conflics. You know something? All govts are hateful.I just said the above things because it sounds unfair when some Americans talk about 444 hostage taking and I keep being silent. So sorry for that.I hope you agree on this one! Now, what do you think?I can't wait to see both nations in peace. It'd be marvelous! Thanks.

what do you thinkk of my poetry?♥? Here are a few of my poems, just the ones I have saved on the computer I have a notebook full haha. Tell me what you think please<3 Painted over. Fine bristles explode with color, Outlining your soul. As for me a silhouette, Of a winter's day so cold. My shadow with blurry edges, Cast on the desolate snow. If you could only feel the void, You would fill my palette so. A dab of color will brighten the day, I swear to you it's true. And you're the only one That can paint my gray skies blue. AS TIME PASSES. Time embraces the world thrusts it to the ground We sit here void of emotion making not a sound It ages us inevitably someday we all must die Days fade to black the light passes us by BROKEN. Harsh fists bear heavily, Against her fragile skin. She kicks and screams, But cannot win. Tears streak her face, She cannot talk. She runs for the door, But it is locked. Drunken fists press her To the cold white wall, Pain envelopes her Helplessly she falls. Now she lays motionless on this bitter tile floor, Bloody and beaten, She can't take much more. CANCER. The theif comes silently Without an introduction. Penetrating your soul. Having no empathy. Showing no remorse. It cannot be eradicated. You feel as though, Faith abandoned you. Along with your body, Which lays motionless. Under the firmly pressed sheets, In your eternal prison. As you lay with lines etched, Across your pale face. Darkness surrounds you, You can no longer see the light. Despair envelopes you, Your breaths are becoming shorter. You long for the day The disease will release you to heaven where you will finally be cured of it forever. LOVE YET UNSPOKEN ---Two souls----------intertwined--- by one shared love. They gleam --into the other's eyes. hands-- -----clasped tightly together.----- ---------words not needed--------- -----------to express this---------- ------------------bond.----------------- **^my first concrete poem** Asphyxiation. Silent screams fill me, With anguished thoughts. My soul's tainted with rust. Decaying with rot. Hands trembling, I struggle to breathe. Trapped in this body, There's no way to leave. Asphyxiated, Choking, I cannot see straight. The light slowly dims, I suffocate. Pictures in the Sky. I reside in the lavish grass Gleaming up entranced. At the sky, oh so brisk. It unfolds gently Bearing white mist so pure Parading across the sky. Like actors on a stage Wonderful caricatures As depicted to a child's eye. Drowning in Lies Choking on tears, Drowning in lies. Trying to swallow, These soft suddle cries. I reach for the surface, Gasping for air. The water's too thick, Black with despair. Tendrils of lies, Holding me back. Entangling around me, A silent attack. Buried Desperate and confused, What I loved is gone. I trudge along in the cold, Wondering what went wrong. Tears freeze before falling, Chills run down my spine. The Earth encased in white, Looking so divine. But underneath the beauty, Of this arctic barren place. Lay memories from last summer, I'd give anything to erase. Frostbite's setting in, I don't know where to go. For this summer love, Is now buried in the snow. Tears of Blood I press the cool shiny blade To my scarred arm. I watch it slice deeply, Tearing flesh from bone. Tears of blood trickle And run off my fingertips. I glance at the blade. Stained crimson with blood. Slowly I lose conciousness. My veins run dry. My blood runs cold. My soul bids me goodbye. Leaving behind a mangled body, Along with this arm- An artwork of Picasso. Falling My lonely lost soul, Now tied down by chains. All hope is destroyed, By a heart in disdain. My shadow's edges, Are depleted and blurred. The pain penetrates, My voice becomes slurred. My thoughts are null, Of sympathetic remorse. My mind's closing in on me, It keeps getting worse. I'm empathic with hate, And fear I can't fight. My vision is hazy, I'm losing my sight. Darkness surrounds me, I can no longer see. Despair envelops me, I'm gasping to breathe. Void of emotion, I make not a sound. All hope leaves me quietly, As I fall to the ground. Cold and lifeless, I lay on the floor. I'm now in fate's hands, I fear what's in store. I am only 13 so please judge these according to the cababilities of a 13 year old, not an adult. thank you =) and if you like them, tell me and I'll post more. please dont say im "obsessed with the dark side" or stuff like that. i deal with an anxiety disorder known as posttraumatic stress disorder and i have depression which i take zoloft for. this is how i deal, not an obsession with emo & fads. justin, i'm good at math...i dont want to be emily dickinson or anything. poetry is a passion, not a career for me.

Help?????? My name is Sharon, i'm 17 years old and I don't know what to do about my little brother, Kevin. He's a nice kid, polite and very smart, but we never knew our mother, our dad was raising us, but he just recently died by a heart attack. I can tell my little brother is scared. He never said one word since our dad died, before he kept asking questions about our mother, but now our dad died and he's been put in a silent mode. I've tried everything to communicate to him. The only thing he ever does is draw pictures and go on the computer. I have tried sending an email to him to see if that would work, it didn't. I don't know else to try. Can anyone help me? Please. Can anyone please just talk to him. The way he has been acting is really scaring me. He's 7 years old, but very smart. He can spell pretty good for his age. Thanks to those who decide to help.
