About nine months before my dad died suddenly of a massive heart attack, he went to the doctor because he was? About nine months before my died suddenly of a massive heart attack, he went to the doctor because he was coughing up blood. I can't remember what my dad said caused it because this was several years ago that this happened, but the doctor gave him some medication to cure his condition--whatever it was. My question is that was this coughing up blood any indication of heart problems or was this just some condition that was completely seperate from any indication of a heart condition or future heart attack?

Why does a human being drop dead so suddenly after a massive heart attack? I have just been watching footage of two soccer stars who died instantly on the football pitch in 2004 and it took less than 2 seconds for them to die. Why does it happen so fast? People are just stating the obvious which I know already. What I want to know is why there is no writhing around in agony for a good few seconds before death. It is completely instant, usually they don't even get chance to close their eyes..

I suffer with CHF after a MASSIVE heart attack. Appreciate opinions.? I am mid-age guy. Auto ran me down badly. It caused a massive heart attack in all segments of my heart. Now I have severe congestive heart failure. I tried Rx diuretics, the strongest, no success yet. CArdiologist says no remedies to revitalize dead heart muscle. I don't want a heart transplant. I refuse to go back to hospital. My ejection fraction is +50%. If my heart muscle so damaged forever, then people like me, can they ever overcome the fluid retention?? My right leg oozes from a spot on skin, streams of clear water from inside my body, DRENCHING my clothes 24/7. I have little water to urinate, since it's spilling out my leg day & night. I gasp with angina if climb stairs or exertion. Does anyone know cases like me who improved & live semi-normally after the huge attack? Doctors have no magic wand to cure me - no specific remedies. I'm losing all hope for my life. Cardiologists have no special cures for me, they say this is my fate.
Are all Arrhythmias treatable if detected before a massive heart attack? Or are there some people who are just told they are a ticking time bomb? This arrhythmia or dysrythmia was revealed to family members when it occured as a survivable complication of a kidney cancer surgery. Turns out, this patient had been diagnosed with arrhythmia a few years before and chosen not to tell anyone. During the episode after the kidney surgery, night-time docs reacted with alarm to the arrhythmia and wanted to begin aggressive treatment of that in the post-op period. The nephrologist was called and said, nonsense. The patient really trusted the nephrologist and later told us the neph said, "With guys like me, it's our hearts that get us, not dialysis." A year later, the patient was dead of a sudden and massive heart attack, although he gave signs in the last month (reviewed retrospectively) that he felt his death was coming, and he was definitely changed in lovingness and gentleness and intensity of focus on the moment and the people with him for the four years prior to his death.

Friends dog had massive heart attack suddenly, NEED ANSWER NOW? Ok Sunday my friends dog died of a massive heart attack out of the blue. My friend and his family let her outside in their backyard, she was running around and playing with their other dog just fine when they left to eat. They were only gone long enough to go out to a resturant and eat then come back home. When they got home however, their dog was on the ground, as if she had laid down. She was dead already, they took her to their vet for an autopsy. When they got a reply, they found it was a massive heart attack. The only health condition she had wrong with her was a very slight heart murmur. No enlarged heart or anything like that. We do know that his neighbors hate their dogs alot though. Anyone know of anything that would have caused the poor girls sudden massive heart attack? I know poison can, but the only way she could have gotten in to anything was if someone gave it to her.
My dad had a widow-maker massive heart attack, and now he's getting a difibullator...what can we expect? My dad had a massive heart attack which they call "a widow maker" and that was in November. He almost died but they were able to shock him back to life. He was overall a healthy 52 year old man with no health problems besides slightly high cholesterol, which he was on medication and a healthier diet for. He went for check ups and had a normal EKG just 4 months before the heart attack. He would've died, but my parents live a couple blocks from a hospital and he had a funny feeling in his chest, so they rushed him in. A piece of plaque blocked off 100% of the major artery in your heart. They had hoped his heart function would improve with time, but because of the location of the blockage, it damaged a substantial portion of his heart. They have measured his EF (I think it measures your heart's function) and his is about 25-30%. From what I've researched, that makes him a candidate for a heart transplant but the doctors haven't mentioned that. One of the tests he had measured slightly better at 30-35%. The first doctor he saw wanted to do a test that would put him into V-Fib but instead of jumping on that test he went and got a second opinion from a better hospital. That doctor took one look at his test results and said he needs a difibullator. So he's going to be having this done in a few days. I am really scared about it. First of all I feel a little guilty that my own health issues (I had cancer at 27, he watched his mom die from the same cancer in her late 30's) and the fact that he was also in a serious car accident where he lost part of his hand (not his fault, and got a crappy settlement for the tragedy) may have played a role in his massive heart attack. Now I am worried about him having this done, and I am also worried about his future. He was normally a very strong man, physically and mentally. After the hand "degloving injury" which left him with half a hand, and then a few months later a serious heart attack, he looks weak, thin (he was always muscular and bigger frame) and he looks like he's aged 10 years overnight. I would say given the circumstances he's holding up OK and trying to maintain some normalcy in his life but things are not perfect. Is there a risk to getting the difibullator? And honestly what are the chances it's going to really help? Does it have risks once it's implanted? And what are the chances he's going to be able to live a normal life after this? He's really motivated to go back to his normal life and he's in denial of the changes that are inevitable. He thinks he can work again (he owned a construction business) and he thinks he is going to be totally fine. I think it's good to have a great attitude like this but I need to know realistically what to expect. Do you think he can go on to live a normal, long life after all of this?
Does every person who has a massive heart attack die? My Uncle died 5 years ago from a massive heart attack and I just wonder does every person who has one die? If no, then why did he die? When the ambulance got to the house in around 5 minutes? I'm just wondering this because my cousin (which is my Uncle's son) has his theory on he doesn't think it was -just- a massive heart attack that killed him and I'm just trying to make sense of all of this. We did not have a autopsy done because his wife ruled it out and the doctors said 'it was a massive heart attack'. Thank you in advance.
My dad died from a massive heart attack...? My dad died from what the paramedics termed a "massive heart attack" back in 1992. There was never an autopsy performed on him, but I'm assuming since his death certificate said that he died within minutes of the onset of the heart attack, his attack happened very suddenly and was caused by one or two major arteries being blocked. My question is this. If the same episode would've happened to him today, could he have been saved? I remember the ambulance took about 20 minutes to get to my house because their building was located on the other side of town. I called the ambulance within a few minutes of him losing consciousness and collapsing, by the way. I was wondering if the medical technology is more advanced today than it was back then and if the methods that are used to try to either stop or revive someone who has suffered a major heart attack are more effective nowadays than back then. Are the methods, instruments, etc. different than back then or have they stayed the same?
My brother died of a massive heart attack and was released from the hosp. 3 days before- Malpractice or what? He had a heart attack in Jan. and a stent was used, he has had reoccurring chest pain and several hospital stays and heart cath's along the way. On his last visit to the hosp. they told him that he had Post traumatic stress syndrome with his heart symptoms, he died 3 days later of a massive heart attack. The coroner said that he had complete blockage in the same artery where the stent was. Would this be a misdiagnosis or malpractice? He was on meds to reduce the plaque and on blood thinners. A few weeks before he was in the hospital (out of state) and they told him that he had severe corony artery disease with more blockage and inflamation of the heart muscle. He moved home and was in the hospital 4 times (3 different hosp.) with severe chest pain, they ran the typical tests: ekg, echo card., gave him pain killers and sent him home-never addressed the severity of his condition. The last visit they told him that his heart was fine.

My Grandfather had a massive heart attack and is in coma-like state at 78...family wants to pull the plug? My grandfather suffered a massive heart attack on his 55th wedding anniversary to my grandmother. It happened at home. Instead of my grandmother calling 9-1-1 she called my aunt who lives 15 minutes away. No one is certain when he stopped breathing but they think his heart stopped beating about the same time he stopped breathing. My family called 9-1-1 after the arrival of my aunt and they arrived in less than 10 minutes. When my grandfather arrived at the hospital he was unconscious as he has been since. They gave him a c-scan which did not show any bleeding or swelling. He is on a respirator & feeding tube to live bcuz he can't breathe/eat on his own. THey have done an EEG which showed minimal brain activity and will perform another tomorrow to see if it changes. If it doesn't my family believes there is no saving him and to take him off life support. I've read that people "awaken" from this and go onto living their lives. I'm just wondering if this is true for my pap at his age
Friend is 61; had massive heart attack. 3days ICU &4 reg. Airlifted 60+ miles. No insure. 4stents Cost guess??? Most of it's in the title. He has no insurance. 61 & had a massive heart attack. 2days in ICU & 5 in a regular room. Actually in the 3rd day of the regular room right now. He was airlifted 60+ miles from Arkansas to Tennessee. 2 stents were put in immediately upon arrival [through the groin area] and 2 more stents will be done tomorrow... also via the incision in the groin. Apparently a top-not group of cardio surgeons. Cost guess??? Anything they can do for relief NOW, and in the future? Thanks! Hey, thanks for the info. I'm just copying the responses and giving it to them. I appreciate you all takng the time. And FYI, I am not stressing them. They are asking ME to search the net and try to find out for them. They are concerned, as anyone would be. He makes too much money to geet assistance, I think. But they just make it with not much to spare. Since he is self employed, there isn't enough money left over for insurance. Wish I had talked to them about catastrophic medical insurance. It has very high deductibles, but better than THIS! And much lower in cost! Personally, I told them not to worry. You have to do whatever, so you may as well not stress about it. We are coming back from over $100,000 debt. So WE have been there, too. I told them we will share our can of beans. 8-]

How high can blood pressure get before a heart attack? I spoke with my mom today. She's in her late 60s and has had high blood pressure for years. She still works regularly but is staying home this week to see if her blood pressure can be moderated after spiking to 236/145. (I'm not 100% sure about the second number--it may be a little off, but I am absolutely positive about the 236.) She was given a new medication, as well as some anxiety medicine. She's always had high blood pressure, but the 236 even scared her. So, how close is someone to a heart attack (or some other major body malfunction) when blood pressure goes that high? I remember my mom's mom had high blood pressure and died from a massive heart attack at age 70 about twenty years ago.

Why did my dad pass away of a heart attack? My father passed away of a massive heart attack over a month ago. After the fact I tried looking up some information about it but I'mnot sure I understand it. So please, do not copy/paste information. My dad had diabetes & high blood pressure. He stopped smoking over 10 years ago. He also had a large belly ( but his legs and arms were tiny). I know those all increased his odds of having a heart attack. He has been eating really well for the last few years and had low cholesterol. So am I right to assume that his arteries were not blocked? He did not have a control on his diabetes... He also passed away in the shower. Did that make a difference? How long does the massive heart attack last before someone passes away? I would appreciate any help I can get

my bf mother had a massive heart attack and is in the hospital dieing. She was very blunt about not caring for me much. We have been together a couple of years, live together, and Im expecting also. I have never experienced having to be that first hand support of a person. What should i do? how do i be supportive? should i go to the hospital to see her? the reason for the last question is bc wouldn't it be kind of fake of me to go see her knowing we dont care for each other. it would seem as if im only there to support him. i don't know if i can handle seeing her all hooked up. she said she thought she would go bc im pregnant. any opinions welcome.
