Allergy To Aspirin Associated With HIV and Hepatitis C? I read this somewhere. Someone please tell me its not true. I have notice in the last couple of years that when I take something with aspirin in it that I have a horrid allergy attack. My eyes water and my nose is so stuffed it feels like it's going to explode. Couldn't I have just aquired an allergic reaction to aspirin over the years?
Aspirin allergy question? when i was younger, my nose used to bleed quite often, and later on a doctor told me i should not take aspirin because it thins the blood and may cause nose bleeds. whenever i had the flu as a kid, if i'd take any pill that contained aspirin. i would end up bleeding from the nose, so i decided to never take the drug again. Now i am 20 and am aware that my capillaries are very thin - i still respect the advice of not taking aspirin, even though i havent had a nose-bleed in a very long time. i've also read that if you are allergic to aspirin, then you pretty much are allergic to any NSAIDs, yet i've been taking ibuprofen for years (instead of aspirin) and it didn't cause any nose-bleeds. Then i am asking, if i can't take any NSAIDs, what CAN i take for pain relief? I have headaches often so i need to take something. when i was a kid my doctor told me i should avoid taking aspirin because im allergic to it and it causes nosebleeds. aspirin IS a NSAID as far as i know, even though not all NSAIDs are salicylates.
Would it be wise to begin a one a day low dose aspirin regimen even though I have no medical problems/allergy. I believe in preventive maintenance of my body so that I don't have any complications in my later years. I also don't want to make things worse so I guess I ask before I start this regiment. I just had my blood works done. Everything is normal. I should have asked my doctor this question but I missed that chance. Thanks
aspirin allergy: what are the symtoms? ..................................great
What is the best OTC pain reliever for people with Aspirin allergies? I usually take tylenol, but I am concerned about its affect on my liver. What else can I take?
allergy to aspirin? so, ive been told i have an allergy to aspirin. but i have no idea when this happened, as it was reported by my mother- who is no longer around. i know she was also allergic. im a 23yr old female, ive taken lotsa other stuff like advil, naproxen etc never had a problem and i wanna know if i legit am allergic to aspirin. how can i go about finding out if i am without doing more harm than good? i mean, aspirin has so many beneficial effects i feel like i wanna know if i really am allergic b/c it could save my life down the road if i am not-
Allergy and Aspirin paste? I have acne and I heard about using aspirin paste to help it. However, I am allergic to aspirin. Would topical application affect me as well?
What foods have aspirin in them? I have a serious allergy to aspirin. I had anaphylxis shock that put me in hospital for a week, 5 days intubated. Since that episode I am still having hiving issues and angiodema. Not allergic to any foods was tested. Allergist told me to look for aspirin in food that somehow I am still getting some of it in my body. Where do I start? Thanks the doctor said there are aspirin products in food
How much aspirin a day is too much? I take at least two, often up to four or five BC powders a day for sinus headaches. Each dose contains 650 mg of aspirin. Is this too much? And if so, what harm can it cause? (Prescription allergy medicines have never helped me. The only thing that works for me is the BC powder and a twice daily dose of OTC pseudophedrine.)
Allergy Attack After Taking Asprin Associated with HIV and Hepatis C ? I read this somewhere. Someone please tell me its not true. I have notice in the last couple of years that when I take something with aspirin in it that I have a horrid allergy attack. My eyes water and my nose is so stuffed it feels like it's going to explode. Couldn't I have just aquired an allergic reaction to aspirin over the years?
When to wear an allergy bracelet or necklace? My boyfriend is allergic to aspirin and ibuprofen. I know some people with severe allergies or diseases (diabetes) wear a piece of jewelry to indicate their condition in case of an emergency. Should he wear one?
If I'm allergic to aspirin...? will I be allergic to Motrin or Ibuprofen in general? I'm very confused about this. My medical doctor never prescribes Motrin due to aspirin allergy, but today my dentist said "that's crazy". She prescribed me ibuprofen and said I would not be allergic. Is it the same as aspirin?
Can you take benadryl and aspirin at the same time? I take benadryl twice a day, once when I wake up, and once when I go to bed. I get sick often, so I take those to prevent allergies from making me sick. I have a headache now and I want to take aspirin to make it go away. Will I be okay if I take aspirin with it?
Does this sound like the symptoms of an allergy? When I get up in the morning I have a bit of a headache on my right side, my right upper back tooth feels like it might be bad, I take two aspirin, the problem goes away, I would think if it was a bad tooth, aspirin wouldn't do that much. What do you think? Thanks!
Paracetemol, aspirin and caffeine?? Allergies? I have just taken two of these and feel lightheaded and dizzy, is this an allergy/ reaction? I have had this problem before and do try to just take plain old paracetemol but needs must!!
Why is aspirin bad for children? I have heard that it is bad for them. I was just curious because I like to know WHY things are. I don't need a research paper, just the short simple answer. Could it cause health problems or a common allergy? Thanks in advance.
what allergy medicine for pet rat? One of my rats seems to have developed allergies to the laundry soap and gets distressed if his blankets and hammocks are more than a day dirty. I have changed to sensitive laundry soap and he is currently in a different room than his cage mates on clean towels. I am familiar with respiratory illnesses in rats, but this is only in his nose and he stops sneezing and wheezing if I have just cleaned the cage and now that he is in a isolated room. Any vet out there no of what I can get for him to help his allergies? I don't want to use a steroid, because it will lower his immune system. Usually , we use childrens antihistimine (without aspirin) but it is not working. I am wondering if there is a allergy medicine (similiar to human med Claritin) that would allow him to go back into the cage with his buddies for the weekend until I can get him to my vet . Yup, it's the Tide. Poor thing. I liked the post about antibiotics and steaming, all of which I know about, but it was very knowledgable. Tomorrow I am going to wash every rat hammock and clothes in unscented detergent and he shall be moving in with two new baby boys in a 'clean' room.
Does no aspirin before surgery mean no icy hot balm? I know that when someone has surgery your not supposed to take any aspirin products 2 weeks prior to surgery. But the Icy Hot balm that I applied 5 days before surgery to someone I just realized had an alarming notice. It said if you have an allergy to aspirin products consult a physician. Now I don't know if this balm is something that shouldn't be used before surgery and if it has aspirin in it? I'm really worried about this. We didn't want to cancel this surgery as it's very important and shouldn't be delayed. Does anyone know if no aspirin before surgery means no Icy Hot Balm (for arthritic back pain) and should this be avoided as well???
Is there a recognized medical abbreviation for "Bee Sting Allergy" similar to NKDA, NO PEN, NO ASA, etc. NKDA=no known drug allergies, NO ASA=allergic to aspirin, NO PEN= allergic to penecillin. Any similar type abbrv. for BEE STING Allergy.
Face swells when I take Diphenhydramine HCI (Benadryl/Tylenol Allergy). Allergy to an antihistamine possible? Has happened twice - once as a kid, took benadryl for spider bite on my leg - face became swollen. Happened last weekend (15 years later) when I took Tylenol Severe Allergy for sneezing, runny nose/eyes.. Didn't realize it had same ingredient as Benadryl. People say its impossible to be allergic to an antihistamine. BUT MY FACE SWELLS! I also have allergies to penicillin, aspirin and chocolate. I have dermographism (get big red whelps if I get scratched). I get huge whelps from flea, mosquito or ant bites. Two weekends ago I got 3 fire ant bites on my foot and spent the whole day with hives all over my body - should have gone to ER but didn't - even had tight throat and chest pains. Something isn't right, but what? (Going to the doctor tomorrow to get a referral to whatever kind of doctor treats this.) In the past doctors have just said they don't know what's wrong with me...
is it a skin or blood allergy or what? my friend has this condition were at night his skin becomes inflammed(similar to the way yur skin will make when u've just had a burn) but it scratches him and it comes out in large and small patches all over his body. in the morning n during the day it not there. his blood type is o+ and he is allergic to medicenes like aspirin so i think these things are all related.
Question about allergy test? I had food allergy test covered 100 foods, showed no allergies. I am allergic to aspirin (very serious reactions), my question is I hear that there are aspirin products in foods, is this true? and how do I know which ones? "Because you reaction is to asprin you may need referral to a dietitian to get an awareness of which foods contain a lot of salycylate." this is what someone told me in another response that is why I am asking.
Prednisone and aspirin for dog? Our dog regularly takes aspirin to help with his hip/back problems. He has just been prescribed Prednisone for his serious allergies (other medications were first tried). Can these two drugs be taken together? Or should he just be taking the Prednisone? The vet is the one who told us to put him on the aspirin. He does know about it as it's in my dog's chart.
What would make a persons sweat smell like urine? Could they have a food allergy? They are very clean & only take baby aspirin to thin their blood on a daily basis. They even rinse their clothing twice to get all the soap out. It only happens when they sweat. Hormonal? She is in menopause & asked me to post this for her. No, she does not have any urinary tract or incontinence problems. Just sweat that smells like urine! What could this be from? She does not consume any type of alcoholic beverages. She drinks a LOT of bottled water (1/2 to 3/4 of a gallon per day). She takes a shower 2-3 times a day! Has extremely low pulse rate from a genetic heart defect & is on a low sodium & low fat regimine.
Are women more likely to have allergic reactions to medications than men? Does Lupus play a role? I am continually developing allergic reactions to medications and it is really getting bad. Tonight, I took aspirin and broke out in hives and my eyes swelled together. That leaves only Tylenol for me to take when I have pain. What happens when I develop an allergy to it? I have yo-yo ANA, speckled. C-3 and C-4 is yo-yo as well, so I have not been diagnosed with Lupus.
Aspirin and Nyquil? Took 650mg of aspirin for a headache, and I'm wanting to take Nyquil, because of my allergy symtoms. I'm just wanting to know is it okay to take both at the same time?
Can my body be immune to aspirin & sleep aids? I rarely take aspirin, I believe what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, but when I DO have a bad enough headache I'll take aspirin. I'll use Excedrin Migraine & instead of 2 I'll pop 3 so I knock it out. I won't take any more than that during the day. Yet sometimes, it won't help. I find the same with sleep aids. I refuse to take them, but lately I've had some personal problems that're troubling me. Granted that could be my problem, but you'd think sleep aids would make me tired, but they don't. I was given the cheap equate allergy pills to try. I was told they usually make my friend tired, so I thought why not? So I took 3 again, rather than 2 as it says, & it still did nothing for me. My friend at work just so happened to take the same thing an hour before me & she was ready to pass out. Well. . .3-4 hours later I still wasn't sleepy. Can my body be immune to these things? This was suggested from a friend. But I don't see how since I rarely take anything. Just curious.
Natural allergy medicines work?? I've been taking over the counter claratin, but its useless and ups my asthma. I've read on other questions people said honey, aspirin, and caffiene.... I have hypoglycemia, and I cannot have any of that. I'm lactose-intolerant and I know homeopathic remedies have lactose (and it makes me wheeze worse). I'm looking for names of medicines you can buy at health food stores. Anything actually work? My doctor has already done an allergy test... and I'm heavily allergic to practically everything. I have a gluten-intolerance too. Anti-histamines don't work. One night I ate a massive amount of veggies and took vitamins before I went to sleep, and for the first time in like 5 months I didn't sneeze in the mornings. I eat a lot of starch now. Oh, and I also have a massive HEPA filter.
My dog has a skin allergy, what could I give her? Alright, I have a pomeranian that developed this allergy a few years ago. She was itching and scratching to the point of her losing fur, bleeding, scabs, making it raw, sometimes around her eyes get pink and she looks miserable. We took her to the vet and they gave her a steroid, my mom said it was like a dog version of prednesone or something...well we ran out and don't have the money or a vet to take her to right now (from moving to a new state)...and now her butt and armpit and groin areas are REALLY raw and scabby and sore...and without this medicine she is tearing herself apart. I can't remember what the vet said would be an okay as an alternative. I think he stated Tylenol/Aspirin were bad for the liver, but a 1/2 of Child's Benadryl would be alright...do you guys thinks this would work, at least for the itching, or is than a safe oral thing we can give her for skin irritation?? This isn't a food allergy. We've discussed it with the vet we had before we moved and he gave her a pill for it. It flaired up randomly and we've fed her the same food for 8 years now. It flaired up about three to four years ago and he said it might have to do with seasonal allergies...it does seem to happen more often in the hotter months...but it still happens all year round. flared** I don't want to cure the scabs already there. I don't need that...I want her to stop itching...so she stops getting scabs. I'm just saying what a VETERINARIAN has already told us...but we get her medicine refilled due to money...so we need something safe to tide her over.
Did aspirin do this to me? I think aspirin kind of messed up my hearing! I read a little bit on aspirin the side effects and I’m guessing I took too much or I’m allergic to it! I took a few because I had a headache and the next morning I woke up with ringing ears, cold clammy skin and stomach discomfort. Today my ears are still ringing and I can’t hear properly and I get dizzy if I stand to long and I have no clue what to do! I’m not even sure if it was the aspirin that did this or allergies or even stress because I have been under a lot of stress lately I have been crying the past two days before this! Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?
can aspirins help with seasonal allergies? oh, and what medicine can you take if you have both allergies AND a cold?
I have an abscess tooth, and was prescribed clindamycin, is this safe? I've heard alot of bad stuff about this antibiotic, and wonder if it's ok. I have some allergies(penicillin, ampicillin, amoxicillin, and aspirin)and wonder if its still ok for me to take, please help!
What can I do to ease my dog's ear infection until I can get to a vet? I know she's very uncomfortable but I can't get to a vet for a couple of days. Her ears are very red and it they seem to hurt or itch. I've been giving her aspirin and Benadryl (because she has a lot of allergies that aggravate her already inflamed ears). Is there anything I can do to make her comfortable until I can get her professional help? She has short hair and her ears aren't long like a hound' ears, and I'm kind of reluctant to try human remedies (other than the aspirin and Benadryl, which my vet recommended for allergy flare-ups). I also am very careful about her food and any of her other allergens, though it's possible that mold or grass could have made her flare up and the cold weather worsened it.
Opinions please: HSA question? I hae an HSA account for my medical insurance. My expenses table shows that I can iuse my HSA debit card to pay for medications, such as aspirin, allergy and sinus medications, antacids, and bandages.....but NOT items merely beneficial to one's health, such as vitamins, nutritional aids and supplements, toiletries (e.g. toothpaste), or cosmetics (e.g. face cream). Do you think I could use it to buy Iron pills? I have minor anemia and I think that taking these will help me feel less fatigued and tired and weak during the day. Is this a qualified expense?
What kind of face wash should I use? Here are some things about my skin: -I am allergic to acnefree -My skin is very sensitive -I am allergic to aspirin -I am allergic to ibuprofen I know it sounds like I am just a mess of allergies, but I'm really not :) Does anyone have any suggestions as to what kind of face cleanser I should use? Or, should I go to a dermatologist and get a prescribed face cleanser? Thank you in advance for your help!
Pleeeaaasse Help me! How can I get rid of bad chest congestion and cough? I have bad asthma/allergies as well. I cant take anything with aspirin in it. I cant stop coughing and its a really deep persistent cough and I am coughing up some green goop. I have been taking 2 mucinex cough/chest congestion every 4 hours, Zyrtec D, and Xopenex. I have no insurance so I'm trying to beat this myself. Anyone know anything else I can try?? Any Ideas??
Can I give my cat allergy medicine in small amount? I have been trying to cut as many corners as possible; so, my cat has a cold and I really don't want to take her to the vet if we can help her get over it on our own. I have looked up cat colds and if it does get worse in the next day or two then I will take her to her vet, but if not I could save a bit of money. I won't give her a full amount of medicine just a little to see if it might help. Non aspirin of course! Please don't condemn me like a lot of people did to another question like mine. I love my animals and take really good care of them! I just wanted to see if there might be a cheaper way. I don't take myself or my kids to the doctor every time we have a cold; so, give me respectable advice. Thanks
Why are meds effective for some, and not for others? (need advice for anti-allergy meds & pain meds, etc)? Everyone reacts differently to every med, and sometimes one individual can have something work for him and something else not. Why is this? Is it because of the difference of chemicals between drug brands, and one chemical might do a better job than the next. For example. I used Allegra. It sped me up too much so any benefits were clearly outweighed by the stimulant-quality of it. But it worked to a degree. Claritin-- did absolutely nothing. Very minimal if anything. Everyone praises it, but it did nothing for me. Zyrtec-- seems to be extremely powerful, even more so than prescription Allegra. some of the drugs people said were poor, do wonders on me, and some of the ones that were praised did nothing. As for pain meds, I tried over the couner meds. Aspirin did very little, whereas tylenol/acetaminophen worked fairly well, but nothing too spectacular. Motrin/Ibuprofen did wonders. In fact, this drug for whatever reason seemed to work even better than prescription pain meds such as Oxycontin/Oxycodone/Percoset/Vicodin In fact, after trying the prescription meds, I found them to sedate me and put me at peace, more than anything, like a very quiet/relaxed and body warm high, with weakness, tiredness, and more shallow breathing as side effects, but didn't do that much for the actual pain! Seriously it didn't. Motrin worked better, without the side effects. Why is it that some meds work better for some than others, why do the pain meds prescription, not produce desired pain relief, and Same with the allergy meds? I'm just baffled. I also have asthma, and singulair does NOTHING for me, yet others praise it.
I have very red splotchy skin all over? Sometimes it is better and sometimes worse, but don't know when or why. I take allergy med. and low dose aspirin to help, yet it doesn't help much. Any ideas or suggestions?
Why do people say they don't need drugs to enhance their lives? I believe this is a very hypocritical statement to make. Because i bet some of you have used aspirin to enhance the quality of life, example would be to stop head aches or other pains so its a little easier to get through your day. Also Caffeine is another one. I'm sure people that would state that have had a cup of coffee, perhaps a can of coca-cola. Caffeine is a mind altering drug. Now people that have said said statement, Have you ever had a shot of whiskey or vodka, because you guessed it, Alcohol is a drug. You use to enhance the party part of your life, or maybe as a way to calm down at the end of the day. I do not support drug addiction. I'm just saying, please use a better excuse for not doing drugs other then "I don't need drugs to enhance my life" Some people do. a good example of people who need drugs are people who are bi polar. Or maybe anti depressants though, they are horribly over prescribed, same as ADD medication and even diet pills. We, especially us Americans are addicted to our drugs. we cant go through an allergy season with out our friendly drug claritin or something similar. So yeh. with all this in mind, would you still say you dont need any drugs to enhance your life? Or maybe you still do them, but dont consider them drugs. After all, caffeine sharpens the senses and stimulates you enough to keep you awake longer. Thanks hope someone can answer me ;o Aspirin isn't status seeking ;o neither are anti depressants or bi polar medication, unless you think they are faking? so they can take meds that have bad side effects. And i don't think people with Bi polar, or who are actually depressed due to chemical imbalance are usually job less, unless it was a cause from their medical condition. just thought i would add this part ;o Oh one more, And i don't mean just Abuse, i mean Use also. Because everyone uses some form of drug. Whether Herbal for a sore throat, or runny nose, or pharmaceutical synthesized for different pains, ie vallium for anxiety or muscle tension. everyone uses ;o Unless when you are sick or hurt you let it heal its course with no help. example is, you broke your arm and bone is pierced through the skin, do you not want the pain killers to help ease pain? thus enhancing that section of your life for better? ;x man i keep thinking of new details but this is last one. Ok so some people do need the drugs to help them, and arent abusing em, and taking for 'fun' but this brings me to a big point, what about taking drugs for spiritual growth? They arent really doing it for fun, but doing it because it brings them closer to god. You can't say no it doesnt, that's just like saying prayer doesn't bring you closer to god, or meditation. You cant prove it doesn't. Also just to say, in saying, people with bi polar or who are depressed need their drugs to bring back balance is exactly what im saying, it enhances their lives, for without it, they may be something they dont want to be.

Need to eat organic foods for IA Allergies and sacylicates? I have been diagnosed with IA anaphylaxis. I am allergic to aspirin had huge anaphylitic shock last year. My doctor wants to to rule out a lot of foods that have sacylicates in them. Or foods with any preservatives. My husband and I went to a whole food store today and were overwhelmed as to where to even start. First off the food was really expensive, and we don't know how to eat this way. Where should we start? What do you eat? Can you share your menus?
My cocker spaniel has problems with his ears. They smell and the vet gave me antibotic? Is there something I can give him to prevent the problem. I think it is yeast in his ears. He also has allergies, which I give bendryl. He is 11 years old, so occasionally I give him a baby aspirin if he seems to be in pain. His diet is Natures recipe/Senior. I don't know what to do for him. The vet bill is just too much for me to pay any longer. Anyone with advice on dealing with the ears.
Can 2 aspirins cause increased heart rate? I had a cold, and took 3 ibuprofen and 1500 mg of vitamin C. A few hours later, I seemed feverish, so I took 2 regular aspirin, thinking they would help the fever. I tried to take a nap an hour later, and my heart rate, which is usually 60-70, was 105 - it stayed there while I was lying down, And was still 90 late that evening. I wasn't taking any other cold medicine, just effexor for depression. Over the next 5 days, it gradually got down to 60, but I wondered if I have an allergy to aspirin, I never take it usually.
Do I have a cold or allergies? Ever since I arrived in England about 10 days ago, I have had what I thought was a cold. I have basically had runny nose (quiet a bit! All those tissues) and more recently, itchy and watery eyes and...more runny nose. Throughout the 10 days, I have been generally tired and have pretty much spent the entire time sleeping in or reading books, leaving only to go to class. I started by taking aspirin, then went and got day/night cold medicine (Benylin here in UK)...and am now realizing that its not really working. The runny rose and constant fatigue is getting really irritating and keeping me from going out. So is it allergies or a bad a cold? Any suggestions on which medication to take? Anything to stop the damn runny nose!

When I'm sleeping, it feels as if something is banging my forehead...? Many times in the night, I wake up to what feels something banging my forehead; jerking my entire head. Often, this is followed by excessive ringing in my ears. This is quite concerning and it's affecting my sleep. Here are some details about my health (and I've no insurance so medical testing is not an option): -male -22 years old -155 lbs -5'11 -caucasian -vegetarian -relatively active -moderate/light drinker -non-smoker -no drug use -hypertensive (unknown cause) -Chiari-Malformation (elongated cerebral tonsils causing excess pressure of CSF) -various allergies And here are the medications and vitamins that I consume every day (my physican is well aware): -Celexia (antidepressant and for anxiety) -Atenenol (anti-hypertension and for anxiety) -prescription-strength Clariton (allergies) -Topamax (sleep sedative) -vitamin A through E, and multivitamin -zinc -omega-3 -magnesium -melatonin -soy-whey protein -sudafed (for allergies) -caffeine -aspirin
Why does my stomach ache? I took 2 'Anadin Extra' about 45 minutes ago for a headache and now have a nasty stomach ache. The ingredients are aspirin, paracetamol, caffeine, E460 and E464, none of which I have an allergy to. Is it possible that the combination of ingredients could have an adverse effect or am I just getting ill and moaning too much?
A very personal question ?Women can only answer this one? I have allergies and can only take tylenol. This is the thing. I have cramps that are awful during my menstral cycle. I went to my gyn and she says that she did not find anything out of the ordinary. It is so miserable. I cramp, run fever, have backaches, pelvic pain, and sometimes vomiting. As there anything that you can suggest that is not an NSAID ie advil, motrin, alleve, aspirin, I cannot take these. I need something that can alleviate this. I have migraines too. I am extremely emotional. I cry throw tantrums the works. I do not even sleep in the bed with my fiancee, I sleep on the couch. Please tell me anything that can help me out.

keep getting sick all the time? I either have a sore throat, or a cough, or sneeze alot, or I feel fatigue or I have a headache! What's wrong with me? I eat right, I keep fairly active why do I keep getting sick? I know I have allergies that act up (usually in the morning from all the dust and pollen) but this is kind of ridiculous now. If I don't have a cold then I will feel fatigue or I will have a headache or sore throat. And I can't take aspirin cause it makes me feel worse. I'm scared to go to the doctor and my family can't really afford, I know my mom won't take my anyway but is there some kind of name for this or do I have a weak immune system? Thanks.
I'm too young for heart problems, so what could it be? Now, Sunday night, I woke up in tears, my chest and back hurt just soooo bad, and last night through right this very second(4:57am), there is a tightness in my neck and chest-mostly my chest. I took 3 reg strength aspirin and a Claritin, thinking it could be allergies-cuz usually around this time of year, since I was little, I would get some sort of upper respiratory infection. But I'm not coughing! I really CANNOT make an appointment with my doctor, because of various personal reasons. So, if any SMART person has experienced this and can give me some kinda clue-I would really appreciate it. ~Me LOL! Clive, you rock! I had to giggle cuz ya seem to have a sense of humor. It is starting to lighten up a little bit. It hurts a little more to breath in, but I'm not wheezing. I have been a little stressed lately, and experienced muscle spasms in my chest in the past. I'm not light headed(maybe a little ditzy sometimes! but I'm not dizzy right now!). I can breath in; it's just a little uncomfortable. Pediatrician, you are so sweet! I appreciate that. NOT exactly THAT young-I'll be 30 in 7 months, but I really appreciate your answer. I NEED MY COFFEE too, btw. Two kids and stuff to do. giggle. Thanks much. I must have a "thumbs down" stalker or something! I didn't give them to you. I really appreciate the concern that real people show for some occasionally ditzy female (MEEEE!)that you don't even know. TY
After drinking, I wake up after 4-6 hours of sleep, rapid pulse, wide awake, dead tired but can't sleep. Help! This happens reliably after even a moderate amount of alcohol, and the type of drink doesn't matter either. I read another question that suggested this could be an allergy, and to try claritin w/ aspirin, suggested by Zorba Pastor on www.wpr.org - does anyone know about this or any other possible remedy? Taking sleeping pills (as I'm doing currently w/ my doc's recommendation) isn't a good solution!
wow, i have this baddd alergy after taking a couple of aspirins.? like i took two aleves or sumthin and now i have rashes all over my face and my back and stuff. its red and its swollen and it itches!! i took two benedryl's (allergy medicine) the pharmacist said it would be ok. I have chronic headaches lasting for wks at a time any helpful suggestions? Since I was a kid i've had headaches. I am also a sugar lover. Have been trying to sub w/immition,but thinking tht's bad. I have allergies-been taking meds for sometime 4tht. Prob need organics/more natural but am in the dark about this stuff. This past headache has lasted for a month. Have taken aleve, tylenol, advil, aspirin and none of it helps. The only thing that took it away 4 a nite was darvacet but can't take that all of the time or i'd be addicted and no dr would perscribe tht for long. I have nausea, dizzy, all of the migraine sympt. i discont my allergy meds since all of them said they could cause headache..now my ear is poppng and i'm getting 'stopped up'. not sure what to do at this pt. lying down makes it worse and i'm going nuts trying to avoid noise and people. making me very intolerant of most everything. any advice would be most appreciated! I recently went to the dr who told me all the homeopathic rem's were crap. he prescribed me tylenol with codeine which i forgot keeps me up all night and the bottle says make sure not take too many or itll be a bitch coming off. great. he said he could give me preventative...but not yet-have to go back to make headaches legit.
neck pain...what could it be? Almost three weeks ago I started having pain in my neck and shoulders and found it hard to turn my head left or right. A few days before my lower back was sore but it went away. I have not been in any accidents or done anything to aggravate my neck. I sleep the same as always. The pain starts at the base of my skull and radiates to my shoulders. Some days it is better than others but today it is almost intolerable. I need to go to the store and runn errands but I am afraid to drive because it is hard to turn my head. I know you are going to say go to a doctor but we have no insurance (self employed) and really can't afford it. I wonder about a chiropractor but I am not sure if this is the sort of thing a chiropractor could fix. I have tried advil, aspirin, and tylenol as well as taking my allergy medicine. What could be casueing this pain and how can I rid myself of it without going broke. Thanks There are some great answers, I am not sure which to choose so I'll let you guys vote. thanks for the great advice.
Have any strange allergies? I'm very allergic to Ibuprofen, Advil, and Aspirin. My lips blow up like balloons! It was kind of funny seeing that at first, but then my throat started closing up! Do you have any strange allergies or reactions to something?
Calcium deposits in Brain and Severe Migraines? I recently went to the ER for severe Migraines only on the right side of my head that have been nonstop for going on a month now... these are Every day/night and are constant. I have tried Tylenol/Excedrin/Advil/Aspirin/Ibuprofin and many others including Sinus/Allergy medications just in case, and to no avail, nothing has worked. I had a CT scan and the Dr said that it showed I have Calcium Deposits on my brain. The hospital's solution was a Vicodin and 2 bags of fluid via IV...which to my experience did NOT help! The Dr did not give me ANY information other than to get another CT scan in 6 months. My question is, what exactly are Calcium Deposits on the brain and what are the consequences? Has anyone else had these problems?
Does Pepto-Bismol affect breast milk? should we dispose of it? My wife recently took an adult dose, 2 tablespoons, of Pepto-Bismol MAX Strength (active ingredient Bismuth Subsalicylate 525 mg per tablespoon). Ten hours later she pumped 6 ounces of breast milk which she can't decide whether to keep or dispose of. She's concerned because the allergy warning on the bottle includes the following line: * Do not take if you are allergic to salicylates (including ASPIRIN) Additional details - Our daughter is 9 months old.
what causes allergies ? how is it you can be able to use like an aspirin for years. all of the sudden you become allergic to an aspirin and this is serious ? what causes the change in the system so you can no longer tolerate something
migraine or something more serious? Ive had a persistent headache for 3 weeks. back of my head, top of my head, temples, in and around eyes, basically all over. as well as double vision, vertigo, flashing lights/spots in vision... other symptoms ive had are arm/leg pain and numbness, ridiculous exhaustion and sensitivity to light. i have a dr. appt scheduled but im questioning whether or not i should go to the ER,.... over the counter meds dont work ive tried aspirin, excedrin for migraines, ibreprofen, ex. strength tylenol, allergy medications, etc... nothing gives even slight relief
Lortab 7.5/500? Ok this is what my doctor perscribed me for the pain my ovarian cyst is causing me... I have a huge issue with taking medications I have never taken before as I have a fear of sideaffects/allergic reactions... When I had gone to the ER they gave me Morphine, that had bad effects on me that didnt wear off for 2 days (headache and nausea) not to mention it didnt help with the pain at all... So what I am asking is this, 1. Should I even bother taking the lortab? 2. What does it make you feel like? This is a list of painkillers that have no effect on me Morphine Advil Tylenol Percocet Ultracet Aspirin Aleve Ibuprofen These are my allergies Penicillin Codeine I have told my doctor all of this and he still perscribed me it.
Going to Florida from Nevada...? We are leaving in a little less then 2 weeks, I have never been there and am not sure of what to pack (medicine wise) is there anything in particular I should worry about (allergies etc...) I'm already taking Aspirin for headaches and such, but is there anything I should pack just in case? Thank you. Okay, I'll add a little more detail for the people who feel in nessecary to be rude. I am going to DisneyWorld and staying at the resort. I don't feel like spending twice the money for 2 pills of Aspirin nor do I want to spend money to drive around for a pharmacy that may or may not be open. I come from a state where Wal-Mart stays open 24/7. I get a headache...I can go there. I not sure if that is the case in other cites and or states. Thanks

HELP, my dog is sick, no vets open in my area right now :(? Two months ago my brother gave me a dog he rescued. She is a chihuahua. I've always noticed she has a small sneezing problem. They told me not to worry cause she just has allergies. Well the sneezing doesn't occur anymore but last month I noticed she gained alot of weight within two days, That night she couldn't walk and I thought she was really going to die, No vets open, I had to try something I gave her baby aspirin. The next morning there was poop everywhere and she went back to regular size but she was walking I was in shock because day before she couldn't move, Well tonight I came home and same thing happening again, I'm trying the aspirin again so in some miracle it'll help again, but this time she looks worse and her heart is beating really fast. What's wrong with my dog? Also not sure is sneezing has anything to do with it but I thought I add it just in case. Any info would help, Thank You Sorry first dog.I know I should have taken her after thr first episode I feel so dumb now. And the nearest vet in my area is 200 miles away, Also very bad timing cause car is in shop, and I don't know anyone that would take me to a vet so far away :(
Do you drink you 8 cups of water a day? Do you know the signifigance of water? Read it if you please: What kinds of symptoms result from drinking too little water? Most commonly I see constipation, dry and itchy skin, acne, nose bleeds, repeated urinary tract infections, dry and unproductive coughs, constant sneezing, sinus pressure and headaches. You might ask how a lack of water intake can cause this wide array of symptoms. Water is required by every cell in the body as nourishment and to remove wastes. When water becomes scarce, the body tries to limit the amount it loses through breathing, mucous production, urination, perspiration and bowel movements. Several cups of water are lost daily through breathing because the lungs require humid air to do their work. In the winter when drier air prevails outside and heating systems (especially forced hot air and wood stoves) dry out the air inside, even more water is lost. It is estimated that on an average day in the fall, 3-4 cups of water are lost through breathing. On a cold, dry winter day as much as 2-3 more cups of water may be lost in this way. The body has to moisturize the air before it reaches the lungs and does so through the mucous membranes lining the nasal passages and the bronchi. As available fluid decreases, the mucous lining becomes drier. This in turn irritates the lungs, causing them to become more reactive to dust, mold particles, cigarette smoke and other irritants, and less resistant to viruses and bacteria. The result: dry cough and bronchitis. The mucous membranes of our lungs and gut are an important component of our resistance to disease. They provide an effective barrier to bacteria, viruses and pollutants when intact. But a number of substances (such as aspirin) are known to harm this barrier. What is less well known is that a lack of water in the body makes the all important mucous less viscous and can cause constipation, irritable bowel syndrome and a slowed movement of the bowels contents. These problems in turn increase ones risk of other long term disease including hemorrhoids and colon cancer. The mucous lining in the sinus passages is similarly vital as a defense against disease. When it becomes drier, sinusitis, nose bleeds and allergic symptoms worsen. Obviously, we all lose some water through urination and urination is required for the removal of various toxins from the body. When fluid volume is diminished, the ability of the body to remove toxins through urination is also diminished. It is a comon misunderstanding that the more water we drink, the harder it is on the kidneys. In fact, except for people with some uncommon kidney problems, the opposite is true. Water soluble toxins cannot be easily removed through the bowels, especially when a lack of water also causes constipation. These toxins then must be eliminated in other ways such as through the skin. The increase in body toxin levels can cause headaches and fatigue. The attempt by the body to remove excess levels of unwanted chemicals through the skin can cause acne and will aggravate eczema. The easy solution to all these problems is to drink more water. Coffee, tea and soda all contain caffeine which is a known diuretic and will actually accentuate the symptoms of fluid loss. Fruit juices are more concentrated in sugar than your body's fluids and so the body will attempt to dilute them in the gut thereby causing a loss of water from other areas of the body. In the dry, hot air of winter and very hot days of summer, drink at least 10 glasses of water daily for optimal health. During the spring and fall, 8 glasses will suffice for most people, although those with inhalant allergies do best to drink as much water as possible. Pregnant women need to drink at least 50% more water daily than they would while not pregnant. People who exercise vigorously should add one glass of water for each 30 minutes of exercise. Herbal teas and diluted fruit juices (1/3 fruit juice to 2/3 water) can be substituted for some of the water. Drink one extra glass of water for each cup of coffee or black tea you have. Humidifying the air in the winter will help reduce water loss, but be careful to clean humidifiers daily to discourage bacteria or mold build up. What type of water is best? Activated carbon or charcoal filtered water is probably the least expensive way to drink 'safe' water. The carbon filter removes most of the carcinogens and bacteria commonly found in drinking water. These filters are often very inexpensive and can be found in almost any department store. Distilled water has had all the metals (both harmful and helpful) removed. None of the flourinated and chlorinated hydrocarbons (coming from combining fertilizers and pesticides with flouride and chlorine) are removed. It is these hydrocarbons which are linked with the most health problems. Bottled spring waters may be healthy, but they are not yet required to be analyzed for chemical and bacterial levels. Water can be a miracle cure for many common ailments. Try drinking some now and see if you don't feel better!

Anyone else allergic to PINEAPPLE? When I was younger, my mouth & tongue burned slightly if I ate raw pineapple or drank the juice, but I never knew that wasn't supposed to happen so it didn't seem "wrong". By the time I began college, I realized it WAS wrong. Not only would my mouth & tongue burn and get sore (but NOT swell, fortunately), but I'd also have a severe stomach ache for about 2 hours, stomach/intestinal cramps, sometimes nausea, sometimes a little headache, and an overall feeling of "sick." (Maybe the runs too!) If I eat cooked pineapple (i.e. Chinese sweet & sour pork, or pineapple upside-down cake), I don't get sick, interestingly enough. I suspect the allergen is bromelain, a pineapple-specific enzyme, so maybe this gets destroyed during cooking? I know pineapple is high in salicylates, but that's not a problem for me, since I eat many other fruits high in that, with no probs. I also take aspirin with no probs. Anyhoo, if you have ANY pineapple sensitivities/allergies, please share them! :)
Constant Headaches? I'm sixteen years old, a female, and I get a headache every day. I usually wake up with the headache and take two RX pain killers and again as needed during the day. I take allergy medicine, prescription pain killers and OTC painkillers, but nothing seems to help more than a few hours. I've tried everything, aspirin, Excedrin, Tylenol, extra strength Tylenol, PM Pain killers... nothing seems to work. My headaches start at my temples and move to the rest of my head. I'll usually get a twinge of pain every now and then in the back of my head/near my neck when I have these headaches. One or both of my ears usually twinge and hurt for a while during these headaches. What should I do? Do you have any suggestions on what I could take? I take Allegra and Zyrtec for my allergies, and I guess I should've mentioned this before, but I do have an oddly aligned bite. My top jaw is much longer than my bottom jaw and my top jaw is wider. Is this TMJ?
Fasting before blood tests...question...? I'm taking a blood test that requires fasting 6-8 hours beforehand. The problem is, sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night and can't get back to sleep w/o a small amount of aspirin (and water to take it with). I have itchy, dry skin and we live near a field, which I think makes it worse being allergy season. I'll take a tiny amount (quarter tablet) just to stop the inflammation. Someone at the clinic told me this was ok and wouldn't affect the test the last time I had bloodwork drawn. But this time I'm having tests done on my kidney function in additional to the routine bloodwork, so just wanted to make sure it wouldn't make a difference. Does "no eating and drinking for 6-8 hours" even include water and medicine, or would it be best to abstain from that, too? Thanks.
Any other alternatives for drug allergic patient? My sister is allergic to the following pain killers: ibuprofen, panadol, paracetamol, voltaren, aspirin, mefenamic acid and ponstan since she was a teenager. A doctor gave her ibuprofen as try and error right before she undergoes her operation next week. As a result, she suffered from the allergic reaction and was sent to hospital. Now, her operation for next week has been canceled. i wonder, 1. is there any other alternatives for my sister to take if she suffers from pain/fever/headache or need to undergo for an operation in future? Does she has to go for another try and error again? We totally have no idea about this. 2. she didnt suffer from drug allergy before. none of us (family members) has suffer from it before. what is the cause for her allergy and is there any cure for drug allergy? Thanks a lot for your information. I really appreciate it. Thank you.
question about my breathing: allergies or asthma?? for about the last 2-3 months, i've noticed a strange change in my breathing. it all started one night when i had what i believed to be a heart palpitation (rapid increase in heart rate, sweating, feeling of adrenaline rush). ever since then, my lungs feel tight. i have trouble breathing deep, fatigue quicker with exercise, and it's just a constant aggrivation. I told my doc about it and when to a cardiologist to make sure nothing was wrong (since i feel it in my chest) and everything came back positive. I still experience it quite often and i'm wondering whether i am developing asthma, or if it's respiratory allergies. my other simptoms include heaviness of chest, like a textbook is sitting on my chest, frequent deep inhales to catch my breath and I take aspirin cuz that's all that seems to work. anyone know what this could be?
